Fortunately, Dave I like working with the maul, and any repair man will tell you about how good and reliable the older Jonsereds are. On a sombre note, I was told today that a man, who was an arborist, was killed while working on a tree recently. It seems that a hung up branch fell on him while he was cutting it down. You have to be completely tuned in all the time at this game. Keep safe and thanks for the comment.
Good video. What length bar do you normally use on your saw,and how wide do you leave for your hinge?.Does spruce produce much creosote when you burn it in a log burner stove?.
It's a 20 inch bar. The hinge is about 10% of the diameter of the tree. If you keep the heat up, it burns off most of the contaminants. I have no problem with creosote.
Nice neat job Mick. Good to see you wearing the safety equipment
Evening Micheal, good job with a great old saw the venrable 630 Super ! You have a bit of work now with the maul.

No Dan. The stump in the foreground was the one that was the subject of the, er... expletives.
