According to Yan Le Pon, the Etranges LIbellules artist who designed the Floating Islands in DOTD, the Burned Lands used to be another part of Warfang. As you go through the level you can see Warfang statues, destroyed bridges and burned trees. To think, this used to be just a city block until Malefor attacked Warfang as soon as he was resurrected after TEN. He must've had so much hatred for the dragon city if he wanted to uproot the city temple and parts of it as his personal domain above the continent.

*This is the most sobering soundtrack in the series*
You just watched Ignitus, your father figure, the man who always seemed to have a plan and a solution just incinerate himself so you could live on. Ignitus was the first character you saw, even before Spyro; he was the first voice and person you saw in the entire series. He was a clearly broken and tired man, having to hold the title and responsibility of leading the charge against Malefor WELL past his prime. And just when his son-figure returns, RIGHT when the war seems to be turning in their favor... he dies before he can see it end. He was born in war and he died in war. Not once did he ever know a time of peace.
And with THAT painful thought, what people don't realize is... *The burned lands are Spyro's old home.* This is where Spyro grew up with Sparx and his adopted parents, now his home (and most likely his parents) have been long since been destroyed.
Spyro's old life with his parents and home is gone, his present life with Ignitus is gone, and his future is about to be gone too. The entire level, you see the Destroyer slowly approach the volcano, knowing the world is going to end the moment he reaches it. The end of the world is today. Despite ALL you've suffered, all you've sacrificed, all you've endured... it's all about to amount to nothing. You couldn't save your home, you couldn't save the man who loved you like his own son, you couldn't save the world... and now you trudge towards the temple, a place you once felt safe at... in a final, desperate attempt to buy the world just another day. Yet as you get closer... the destroyer gets closer.
    *These are your final hours*

this is so true and I love the fact that more people love this game and reflection about it. However, I believe that actually the burned lands is not the swamp, like I know the swamp and the temple were close but the temple wasn't under a volcano before, it's been moved and it's not in the same location. Or maybe it's a different temple but I believe that if it was the swamp, someone would have said something about it.
But for the rest, I love the truth and reflection of your comment:)

Actually it isn't true. According to this new information.
A story mistranslation or error in dialogue in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon has Hunter of Avalar heavily imply that the temple Malefor took over was the Dragon Temple.[1] This isn't the case, as it was revealed by a game concept artist that Malefor actually tore a fraction of Warfang along with its city temple above the land.[2] However because of this error, fans believed that the Dragon Temple was made into Malefor's new stronghold and the surrounding land was the same region as the Swamp.

There's alot of things cut out and I'm working on a script getting through forming the first parts of ANB, you can check my video to see what I think about a Remake which is for minor changes, only keeping the same story and layout of the games the same but Remaster doesn't mean it is done so much like the Reignited Trilogy, you can have an HD Remaster keeping it the same but improving the quality which I feel for us Legend fans, we need that Remaster and that can spread to those who don't know how great this series is or that it exists in general, it's best to do it because we can play with new consoles and systems but with this Remaster, I want Aether playable in all levels in ANB without needing hacks.

Exactly the reason I enjoy this series, and the icing on the cake is this trilogy depicts dragon magic as WAY more than just simply breathing fire. A wrecking ball from the mouth and swirling in a blizzard tornado is just a few cool ideas out of the countless possibilities.
The team said they barely scratched the surface of what potential the Dragons of this universe are capable of.
By the way, there is an upcoming indie game with a dragon protagonist. Glyde the Dragon. It does give off TLoS vibes with similar powers (only a more fairly provided budget and fairly paid developers meaning more abilities and a happier team). It's starting out with a PC version (and it was my reason for finally getting one) but it will find its way to other consoles if it's successful. I'll buy it on Switch too after that happens. I am that hypes and grateful for its existence alone.

So I just settled for concept art and music. Still, it's a testament to how good the worldbuilding in LoS is that I wanted to try making a tribute to it.

One thing I realized was that to Spyro and Cynder, since they have been in crystal for 3 years, to them everything from the end of A New Beginning to the end of Dawn of the Dragon is literally happening within weeks.😢😢😢 meaning if they did die in Dawn of the Dragon, Cynder literally would've had weeks to live as her own person.😔😔😔

thankfully they didn't die, if that were the case, Cynder literally would have been one of the top most tragic characters, she's been taking against her will as a mere egg, turned into a literal monster against her will to serve an evil purple dragon who thinks purple dragons were meant to destroy, she was still blamed and hated by Sparx and the cheetas despite the fact she was brainwashed and who knows how many others still have grudges against her and she even blamed herself, she spent 3 years trapped in a crystal along with Spyro, chained with him and have her very oppressor lie to Spyro that she was still evil and then forced her to attack Spyro against her will...AGAIN...and then dies after all?. what kind of life is that?? but you know what's interesting? even tho AFTER they defeated Malefor and they are finally unchained, Spyro taught her to leave, she could have had a chance to leave and finally get to live her life while Spyro rebuilds the world, but she didn't...she'd rather stay with the very dragon who saved her, searched high and low for her after she decided to leave the temple, protected her, and who is also her very FIRST FRIEND...and even developed feelings for him after knowing that Spyro thought it was pointless to fight back when he told her she left him nothing to fight for, she realised after all the misery, all the grudges thrown at her, the horrors she caused against her will, Spyro was the one person who cares for her more than anyone else, she'd rather die with him then be without him, Spyro completes her. but thankfully they didn't die, now they can finally be happy and be together, remember when Cynder didn't sound empathetic when Ignitus dies? i think she behaved like that cause she never knew what it felt like to be cared about until Spyro revealed his feelings to her. i know that this is a different Spyro, but Cynder deserves to have Spyro as her boyfriend more than Elora, also cause they are both dragons

Imagine that everything you knew, the place you grown up and lived more than half of your life, suddenly is reduced to nothing but ashes. Memories, people and tender feelings of the old days, flowing like smoke and simply dissipating into the air, remnants of grief being inhaled and filling your lungs. Nothing can be made, only acceptation of the loss, and keep trying to stay strong to keep facing the arduous war harvesting the world.
This is my favourite song of all TLOS trilogy. It is ethereal, melancholic and funereal, very fitting to this moment of the story and for the feelings of the main characters

1:36 this section of the choir bit had some very discordant notes, which of course is applicable to the situation that Spyro and Cynder are in at this moment. But I'm wondering, what's going on with that discordant harmony? Is that a tritone, or something different? If it is something different, is there a name for it?
I'm good at matching pitch, but not at understanding what the notes actually are. If you played a note for me I wouldn't be able to tell you what note it was on what scale, and I wouldn't be able to tell you the length of the note either, even though I could sing that note back exactly. That's why I'm asking, for anyone that has any musical knowledge. I'm really interested in this stuff, like music theory and the role of music in storytelling.

so many pieces in this trilogy sound like church music or something. it gives an incredibly massive and ancient feel to the songs and the world. a lot of them remind me of hans zimmer’s compositions. this one particularly reminds me of the piece that plays during and shortly after the stampede scene in lion king.

It only gets better once you understand the latin lyrics... The first part is one of Catull's mournful elegies, where it's all about evil deeds and losing beautiful things, they emphasize words such as "male" (evil) by singing them dissonantly and shrill... As to vocalize how evil and horrifying the deeds were... In the second part the song gets more steady like a slow, defiant march in he face of it all, and the lyrics talk about surviving despite being burned.

@@n4sos Yeah, if we say that the lyrics are sung from Spyro's PoV the loss of Ignitus would be the freshest thing on his mind... Even with the literal devestation him and Cynder are surrounded by in this level. And then the part comes that shows that Spyro is pushing on, thanks to Cynder's love, something Ignitus actually predicted in his final words to the two. I like to think that being like a father to Spyro he knew how much Cynder meant to him.

@@n4sos Ikr, there are so many clever little beats in the cutscenes and character interactions, like Ignitus telling Spyro and Cynder to stay close to him before he moves into the wall of fire and then later Spyro repeats that to Cynder before they enter Malefor's lair, showing very subtly how he honors Ignitus' sacrifice, and just how much significance he had to him. They did that at the end of A New Beginning with Spyro and Cynder already, with Spyro repeating Cynder's "Bring it" and then just outright saying "She is just like me" alas the two of them are revealed to have a lot in common as Ignitus literally states. It's incredible how much you can read into it all. So it is no surprise that little things like level music contains such detail and care...

Malefor was just an evil purple dragon who believe in evil things including namely destruction and resurrecting the Destroyer to destroy the world but however Spyro did not like Spyro forgave Cynder one of his friends that he was close to and even being lovers too for what she unintentionally did because she was turned into Malefor’s puppet and he even still cared about her like he did with his mentor Ignitus and his own adoptive brother Sparx also for three examples when Spyro was worried if he was going to be like Malefor Ignitus told him that he doesn’t think that because he knows Spyro and his (Spyro’s) heart won’t allowed that he believes Spyro is destined of great things like bringing a new age of peace, and when Malefor told Spyro “It seems like we share other qualities besides our color.” which Spyro replied back was “No! I’m nothing like you.” and when Malefor said to Spyro “Your destiny is to destroy.” which then after that and being knock around by a corrupted Cynder then he (Spyro) told him (Malefor) was “No I don’t believe that!”
