    UPDATE: Also when it comes to large sizes like 128GB+ Chances are they're much smaller. For that one I'd strictly test 32-35GB and no more. If that comes back as successful then try the whole size, but chances are a lot of them come back as 4GB/8GB/16GB/32GB Memory sticks never usually more.
    "I did found a way to change it back to the original size, just press win + r button and type diskmgmt.msc then press enter. From their you should select your usb drive and delete its volume, once done you should create a new volume and select the original size for me it is 16 gb only so I convert it into kb." - "Patrick John Itable"
    Big thanks for this tip!
    How did you fare? Let me know if you got the right size, or were you scammed like me??

      Another bad sign is when the flash drive doesn't have a manufacturer label or a listed capacity on it.

      KDStudios I have a question. I’m not able to run the H2test because I’m on Mac and don’t have the necessary items to use it on that. So I bought a 128 gb Samsung micro SD and I found it wasn’t storing more than 36 GB oh my switch. It’s very odd because it came in sealed packaging and looks very real but I noticed the edges are black and from what I read that’s asian it’s a fake. When I look at the storage capacity on switch it has a black bar that prefills up all except about 90 gb of it. When I went to download a game to it it would only take two games before it said it was filled, even though those games only rallied up to 30gb. Is that a good enough sign that it’s indeed fake and formatted to appear 128?

    Keep in mind that operating systems report sizes in multiples of 1024 (binary: 100-0000-0000, hex:400, easy to remember and do in your head) and drive manufacturers report in multiples of 1000 (binary: 11-1110-1000, hex:3E8). Anyone that says computers should report as 1K=1000 has never programmed in Assembly, or is just an asshat, or both.

    H2TESTW is really helpful .
    But there are still a lot buyers want the super cheap price usb flash drive ,like 1 dollar or 2 dollar ,really crazy .
    Those low price chipset ,we call it upgrade type chipset , the real capacity is about 128mb . But it display on your PC is 16GB . The only way to find it is using this H2testw to test .

      Can you help me? I have a newly-bought 32Gb SD Card Class 10, I tested it using H2testw and showed no Errors (No Bad Sectors nor anything). But when I put it in my phone, I always lose lots of random files on the SD right after rebooting my phone. Especially, when the SD Card Used Space has reached more than 16GB. The lost files tend to change themselves to 0,00B in Size and sometimes they move themselves to SDCard/LOST.DIR Folder.

    • @QueVivaLaRaza
      @QueVivaLaRaza Před 6 lety +1

      Hello, Everyone. I need a help, I've been using my (Rooted) device for the last 2,5 years and lately I keep losing Data on my New 32 SD Cards (Such as Images, Mp3, and other files). For this month only I already purchased two genuine 32SD Cards. I bought the first one 3 weeks ago, then I transferred all my files from my old 16Gb Card Onto the Newly-bought one. And whenever I restarted my phone, I always lost 2-8Gb of files. For instance, before I restart my phone there was 8Gb of Free Space & 20Gb of Used Space on the SD card; but after restarting my phone the free space mysteriously went back to around 14-15Gb and the used space also went back to 14Gb, meaning that I just lost 6Gb of Random Files (The disappear files' sizes tend to change themselves to 0,00byte or 32,0Kb). I've Tried Formating The Card & Re-transferring again for like 10 times, but the problem still persisted. And i'm tired of this, because it needs more than six hours to transfer all my data worth 20Gb (from my Flashdrive & Card) to the abominable Card; but in the end 6gb of it will eventually lost. The card simply, can't hold more than 14Gb of Data on it (if I put files more than 14Gb of files on it, some random files will eventually disappear & corrupt after reboot and the free space goes back to around 14-15Gb Again) but it only happens on this phone (Because the card is 100% pure 32Gb Class 10, and I had tested it using various softwares on PC and they all tell that the card is genuine). At first, I thought the (First) SD Card was fake/fraud product so then 2 weeks later for the second time, I bought another 32Gb Sd Card with a different brand (which now I'm using). I also tested the Card on PC Using H2testw prior to using it, and test results showed that The 2nd card is also 100% Genuine (No Errors & Bad Sectors). But today is my unlucky day, because I Rebooted my phone that had been On for the last 11 days. I knew this would happen again because the first 32Gb Card also has similar problem despite the card being genuine (Everything is fine if I don't restart/reboot my phone). I kept my phone awake for more than 260 hours, because I knew If I ever shutdown/reboot my phone I would lose lots of files. BUT IN THE END I will always need to reboot my phone knce in a while, and I just lost random files again (today's loss was 1,8Gb).
      The questions are, Are the SD Cards actually Counterfeit Products? Does this problem have something to do with my firmware (ROM)? Does My phone have bad Motherboard? Does this have something to do with the TWRP (Custom Recovery System)? What should I do To fix this problem? Kindly, I'm seeking for help.

    It's getting ridiculous how many counterfeits there are out there. I bought a 64GB drive for $8 and a 16GB driv for $5 from the same supplier as I needed 72GB to back up my music with the HE-AAC v2 codec (just because I can) and the 64GB turned out to be a 16GB counterfeit. So I ended up with two 16GB drives. But what's the bloody point of doing that? I got my money back but the really annoying thing is the seller wasted everyone's time, both mine and his with his stupid little scam. As if people are really not going to notice there are 48GB missing.

      Oof, I should have said the moment you see Data Lost/Corrupted you may as well take a screenshot and end the test as the rest usually will result in a failure also. Instead of waiting for it to finish. Really wish fakes would disappear. If you are to keep the SD card be sure to delete the partition of the SD card and make a new one with a limit of 10GB, that way you can use it until it's real capacity.

      Turned out, only 30gb was usable which meant it was a 32gb card.
      It truly sucks that only a handful of us tested these cards & left negative feedbacks while the rest of the 100+ buyers were oblivious to the merchandise they received & just assumed they were real, leaving glowing positive comments, LoL.
      This experience was a good lesson in learning how to differentiate the fakes from the real ones... yeah, I had to buy them again except this time it was with a big seller who I bought a new Galaxy phone from just a few weeks earlier.

      Most scam drives have fairly small real capacities. I wouldn't test beyond 65 gigabytes. If Verify comes back at that point and stays it's still good, then it's likely that the rest of the drive is ok. Also a modern USB flash drive with a huge capacity should be writing at USB 3.0 speeds at least. Check the write speed while it's testing. A scam drive is more likely to be a slower, USB 2.0 drive.

      Yes they do exist. However, just test only 70GB (70000MB in the program) first. If it loses ANY data, it's fake. Or if that comes back fine test 130GB, then 270GB etc. Just to be sure. Testing 2TB will take forever.

    • @dialupdavid
      @dialupdavid Před 5 lety +3

      The reason this happens is that the SD card will just rewrite itself continuously when it runs out of space on these fakes. So to your PC it's copying fully, but if you tried to play it back it would either be completely broken, or highly corrupted. When these programs write the data, they generate a hash signature that's verified when the data is read back. Essentially making perfectly certain the data contained (fully filled) on the SD card isn't corrupt. Another helpful tip is noting the write/read speeds when the test operates. Especially for higher end cards that have ~90+MB/s read/writes. If it's only giving you 2MB/s on linear reads/writes it's probably fake.

      All that matters is that you're getting the speeds and the capacity you pay for. I hope this helps.
      Thankfully this tells you the read/write speeds and the capacity. Google the speeds your card is supposed to be at and also check to make sure you're using USB 3.0 so you know you're getting the best possible speed.

    u can do the same test with aida64 btw, i bought a 2tb, well not me i know its a scam, but my sister insisted she knows someone who bought a 1tb usb stick and everythings great, i said to her probably its great with a few files that work, rest is lost, she insisted on buying it for me for 4€ so i said what the hell, itll be fake anyway. Did get it, tried it, it showed 1.9tb free, i said sure, copied a few files and was ok. Tested in aida64, first test showed a quick 753gb somethign, i was like, hm could it be the capacity is well not 2tb but at least 750gb is still good enough for this cheap. Well no, turned out, when i performed the write test and verify, well it showed only 15gb could be realistically wrote on this drive, but i think well its still ok for 4€ but not near 2tb, then i went online searched for 2tb flash disks, well the cheapest is like for 200€ and its a disk not a stick (i dont think they are the same) i think brand is Patriot and the most expensive on that list was for 330€ i think corsair. I dont remember i only remember that it was way way more expensive for this capacity. Still external or even regular hdds with 2tb capacity are way more cheaper then this solution (external disk are enclosed hdds so ...anyway). Either way that amount of data is never that cheap and never will unless u buy a second hand one, in the future maybe. So lesson not learned cause i knew all along that its a fake, but my sister now knows that she should trust me on computer matters. She thought she knew better. She failed. Hope that she learned her lesson and wont fall for this crap again. At least it was cheap and the capacity is decent and working.
    Also with aida64 it took me testing that stick only like an hour or so, test and verify all in all, 61hours and the like its madness.
