Real OGs remember when the extra deck was called the Fusion Deck..
Thats cause back then all it contains was fusion it eventually got changed to extra when it got added with a bunch of other cards thats not fusion so cant really call it fusion deck anymore.

At my local Pokémon tournament we were doing some regular matches and one guy showed up saying he hadn’t played since 2004 the game was still pretty much the same but everyone instantly destroyed him with much higher hp decks

True because when I first started duel links I was used to normal summon but the enemy already has a lot of syncro monster and as these day I still don't understand
I havent touched the yugioh series since GX (and like an episode or 2 of 5Ds) and then I download Duel Masters on steam and this was my exact reaction😂

When master duel was announced i got excited to play it.. when i saw that i either had no turn or my only turn was if i went first only, it threw me off completely
Not gonna lie I stopped before synchro summoning became a thing. Came back and got destroyed in 4 turns but the people at the card shop helped me get up to speed and thanks to playing the games I'm decent XD

I think people don't realise that Link summoning is 6 years old at this point. Pendulums have been in the game for almost a decade as well. (August of 2014 for those of you who are curious)
Me and my friends are playing with only structure decks. It's more fun to play with that way.
This is a great idea. I got a few new decks to play against my brother but nothing too crazy. We just play with structure/Starter decks now and we’ve been playing for 21 years. Bought synchro xyz pendulum but nothing compares to old school yugioh/yugioh GX style dueling when fusions ruled the game

Dude i had the same reaction when i played against new Link summoning in Yu gi oh Duel links.
the first time i played master duel i was confused on how is monster in the spell and trap zone, then the link summon got me bonkers i was so confused.
i’m just getting back into the pokemon tcg and even tho they only changed like 3 or 4 things it was still confusing as hell to learn what the lost zone was and why i lost in 3 turns
I remember when you actually had to think multiple hands ahead just to get a special summon off.. now it takes 9 minutes for someone to finish their first turn, they have 6 monsters on the field, all of them have super long paragraphs like. “Can’t be destroyed by battle, can’t be destroyed by card effects, negate all spells and traps, once per turn choose one monster to destroy, than special summon an even stronger card to your side of the field, or than activate a spell card that will take another 9 minutes for you to special summon this card again, than, when this card goes to the grave, your opponent instantly loses… “I end my turn.” Than he’s got 5 traps down, 12 cards in his hand, 4 of which are hand traps, he’s got 4 monsters that also have the same long paragraphs with 17 abilities, and if you don’t have anything to play against that, you lose on the first turn… I’m trying find the word for it… oh yea “balance.” I wonder if they have a word for that in Japan, cuz I don’t think it ever got brought up in the slide presentation about “how to market waifu cards to 12 year olds.”
This is why I keep a straight forward beatdown deck with the new Summoning mechanics, just to teach older players what's up.

Yep - that’s in Master Duel as well, that’s how I gotten some knowledge of the more modern ones - but I still play partly retro, and mix modern, and got my own tricks in my playstyle and theme.

Iv seen ppl who build tournament decks where u can win without even attacking one single bit. Jus a bunch of combo and hand traps and what not it gets confusing when u can summon monster in so many different way with this syncro summoning and link summoning
