- He's back at it again. Harry Styles has just released a new music video for "Music for a Sushi Restaurant". I was not expecting this. On the other hand, let's see if this song can evoke anything in me.

pretty sure the “music video is like a music video” is a mocking reference to when in an interview about his new film he said he “loves the movie because it feels like a movie”. Always a classic
Hahah yes, I was searching for this comment!
Well spotted
Insightful as always! I feel a lot of Harry's strongest songs are the ones that tend to not be singles. Songs like Fine Line, From The Dining Table, Sunflower vol.6, To Be So Lonely and She demonstrate his creativity, lyricism, production and vocals much better than the chart toppers
His first album was so good his best songs are from there or the second album
I think you should react to his more 60’s/70’s Rock stuff like “ Kiwi “, “ Only Angel “ & “ Carolina “ and he also has some other great songs like “ Sweet Creature “( wich is inspired by “ Blackbird “ ), “ Matilda “ and “ Sign Of The Times “ and generally just his first solo album is very moving imo
Mr Styles is born 1994...
In my opinion it's impossible for him to have been able to produce 60's or 70's rock due to the fact he didn't exist.
I might be wrong, but I don't think so.
@@leilak978 yeah same like Amy Winehouse couldn't produce those jazz classics right ? 🙃
@@thesoul2sqeeze You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who'd agree that Amy Winehouse produced 'jazz classics'.
@@leilak978 what an idiotic comment.
Not in disagreement that Harry Styles embodies the 60s/70s because aye I’d probably agree he does not (although I do enjoy some of his stuff for easy listening).
But to say someone can’t play the same style as something that was before them is ridiculous. Someone can be influenced by music regardless of when that music was made. Off your high horse, mate.
@@itsonlysound 💯 needs to listen to Sign of The Times and Kiwi, 2 of HS greatest songs to date and both SUPERB live!
Harry Styles is what happens when saccharine pop meets mushrooms and honestly im here for it. His offering are still decidedly “mainstream” but he continues to get weirder and i find that healthy for this level of highly consumed pop music
I love your comment and even referenced it in my comment. The “saccharine pop meets mushrooms” line is one of the best I have ever read in a comments section. #Brilliant ✌🏾
Is this a more general take? for me this was an average song with an MGMT music video lol
It might sound better if I were on mushrooms, but sober it sounds like ass.
Really? The way I see it, his music comes off like a watered down rendition of some genuinely great indie artists. And it feels like after 3 solo albums his songwriting hasn’t improved at all. The only way I can imagine seeing his music as weird or unique is if I’d spent my entire life listening to top 10 radio.
This is a great comment. I always just say he makes GREAT pop music. But this is better.
I think he's becoming a good example of: solid pop star, but the best material he puts out really is in the deep cuts, rarely the singles - and the thing that truly sets him apart is personality and performance as you noticed.
I slept on his music and judged it by the singles because of the snob I am. (I also thought Watermelon was clean and it completely went over my head) I shazamed tracks she and daydreaming after it came on in a bar. Oooh that‘s Harry? Wish i heard it sooner
You know it’s gonna be a good video when Justin says “I think a costume change is in order.”
Oh, that was just brilliant! My favourite channel.
Haha the best!
Justin wears spandex better than David Lee Roth 🤟
Costume change of this and any other year. Pure quality 🤣
Honestly, tracks like grape juice, satellite, and even the single As it Was are pretty solid.
As it was 🙂🙂 is a great song 💐💐
Thank God for the artists musicians poets and painters. They make life bearable.
Amen to that comment. 👍✌️💥🎸
Agreed, except for the god part

I’d definitely listen to the entire Harry’s House album! But more specifically the songs “Satellite”, “Cinema” and “Daydreaming”
I consider myself a CZcams addict and this has quickly become the channel I look forward to every day…plus it led me to discover “Love is only a feeling” which is a freakin jam and I now sing it to my dog every day
AND....Justin is consistent. Releasing a video every...single...day. No matter what.
I love it. Always something I can look forward to and count on. :)
@@avedic That's just because there are many Justin clones.
"My treasured lovelies" aww ☺
Hi Justin!
I've gotta start off by saying that I (somewhat randomly) moved to Europe by myself in September (I followed a whim), and since coming here and finding your channel, you are the only thing I watch. Your videos really make this new apartment in a new place feel like home -- your humor and wit always keep me interested, the musical theory is fantastic to learn about, you are consistently kind and considerate regarding the artists you speak about, and the feel of your videos is also relaxed and soothing, making them the perfect thing to have playing non-stop. (Also, I've been a huge fan of yours for years. "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" is one of my FAVORITES to perform at karaoke!)
Aaaand now that I've prattled on and embarrassed myself... I would be interested to see you react to some of Harry Styles' more soulful, slow songs -- particularly "Falling" or "Matilda". You had mentioned that you have yet to be moved by his music, so I'm just curious about what your opinion would be of some of his more heartfelt tracks, as opposed to the more bouncy pop numbers that easily make their way onto the charts and get the majority of people's attention.
Thanks! Looking forward to all the videos to come.
you should definitely check out harry’s first album for some more moving songs ! his latest two albums are circulating more around an 80s pop sound (especially harry‘s house) whereas his self titiled album has alot of more pop-rock/rock annd acoustic type songs (like only angel and woman, for example) great stuff from that album, and definitely my favourite if harry’s.
I love Justin's commitment to wear the proper outfit for the video
You are just hilarious, Justin! Right from the beginning of this video you were comedy gold..I also love it when you have a serious face and trying to convey a serious point, all while wearing a shark suit......You've once again made my day! AGAIIIIINNNNN......
I watched this video blossom in front of my CZcams eyes! You are always engaging, insightful and enjoyable. Thanks for starting this series. It’s a lovely way for a fan to get a fix when you’re not playing nearby.
Blimey Justin, that costume change was fantastic.
I can just imagine the thought process for this purchase many moons ago.
"You just never know when I might need something like this"
😂😂
If you want to listen to a song by Harry styles that is moving I would suggest “Fine Line” it’s brilliant
I became a fan of the Darkness back in the day when you guys first came out and always knew that the singer must be a great charismatic guy but hey you are even cooler I ever imagined! Your comments, very british witt and charisma is unmatched in the music industry. And I got to hand it to ya, you are way cooler now then you were when first coming out with the Darkness.
Tremendous appreciation, love and respect from Chermany, A Fan!
The melody reminds me of “S&M” by Thin Lizzy. The horn section also reminded me of a similar part in “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
Always a joy… and the highlight of my day to catch your videos - yet another artist to check out via your recommendations John Grant that is and yes HS is a good actor but very pop song wise but still fun to watch 😊
That shark costume has me rolling! 😂
But does it have you Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'?
Please listen to his entire debut album!
Love the "Good day to you my treasured lovelies". You're making me blush 😊
The new duke of laptop music, I'm dead!! 😂😂
Good stuff thxs again Justin for riding again
From AZ
At 1:51 I loved your impersonation of Steve Coogan’s impersonation of Michael Caine: “He’s only 28 years old!”
Epic catch!
@@youreadyfreddie haha thx. It screamed out to me when he said the line.
@@youreadyfreddie Also, nice fishing pun with “catch!”
if you want a song that will move you try Matilda or Fineline these two songs to me personally are so emotionally draining especially matilda bc of how much I relate to the lyrics on a personal level and hearing fine line live at his first solo stadium show was the most mesmerizing experience I have ever been through. if you would like another artist that has such a moving and emotional song i would recommend Louis Tomlinson's two of us it is absolutely heartbreaking when you know his story. when hearing two of us live there was hardly a dry eye in the room i honestly couldn't recommend this song enuff x
Naturally funny human being, is ol’ Justin. Newly subbed and very glad I am here
Kiwi is a Good Solid Rock Song. Darkness should cover it.
Love Harry's music. Best thing about Harry is that he's just a giant music fan/music nerd who is charming but weird. All of that comes through in his music, and I hope he just keeps getting weirder and greater.
You should absolutely do an episode on John Grant! He is such a fantastic artist and I would love to hear your in-depth commentary on some of his stuff :)
The shark outfit slayed me😂
The man with a wardrobe for any occasion :)
🤣🤣😅🤣 When you said a costume change was in order, I so wasn't prepared for that 😅😅. Man i love your humure amongst you're many other likeable aspects of what make Justin Hawkins. Ps been watching some of you're recent gig's, and you guys just rock on stage.
Something about the massive headphones nestled perfectly into the jaws of the shark… Exquisitely sweet, made my week, thank you. As for Harry, I think he’s a great performer, I really want to like his music and on the surface I feel like I *should* like it, especially when it’s so often funk/70s jive oriented with super catchy hooks, but once I get past that and listen to the whole thing, it usually makes me want to bang my head against a wall repeatedly in an attempt to remove any traces of its existence. I mean, at least it’s a reaction, and he has challenged me. So I keep trying, and keep failing to like it, usually in quite extreme ways. Not very constructive of me I know, sorry, but it’s balanced with good and bad so I’m sticking with it.
It's okay not to like something. Most people aren't brave enough to admit it publicly. I also have tried to enjoy HS's music and don't seem to dig most of it. As you said, at least we make attempts and still have a reaction at all -- that's the entire point of artistic endeavors, right? 🤔😉😎🤘🌟
@@MashaT22 100%! It’s totally OK not not like things, and to have different opinions. That’s what makes for good discussion, and makes us interesting. I always feel if I really like someone I want to like what they do, but it’s just not realistic is it? All of my favourite artists have albums and tracks I skip entirely, you’ll never always get it right for everyone.
it's simon cowbell's personal poster boy - of course it's sh*t
Let's see you crowd surf in that suit!! You are a Gem!
I couldn’t imagine any better way to spend my free time than to watch JHRA.
Love the frequent uploads and the insightful and hilarious content.
The best channel to hit CZcams in a long time! 👏🏻
Justin, thank you so much for introducing me to John Grant. He’s a sexy, filthy genius. I’m enjoying Pale Green Ghosts immensely. A song containing the word “Callipygian” is right up there with Motörhead’s use of “parallelogram” in my book 🙏
I love the modal interchange at the end of your intro.
Would’ve been so easy for Harold Styles to trot out a faux rock song, some power ballads and a couple of duets but he has actually tried to do other things.
Fair play.
Is this sarcasm? Because besides a duet, those are the things that he’s literally done.
@@Gino565 no.
I agreeDave. But sometimes I miss the One Direction type easy songs.
Juuustin Sharkins rides aaagainn..

Love the video, love this.
Crazy video for sure. Thanks for intro to John Grant. Very cool. I am into Father John Misty and find Grants music in similar genre. Awesome.
Hi Justin, One for your next Q&A maybe? You seem to have quite eclectic taste in the music you listen to and review. I've been playing for ahuhmm (clears throat) years and although I can write in a chosen style (to a point), I find I get board or maybe something else completely different just falls out of the guitar sometimes. Do you have a secret stash of tunes and songs that weren't right for The Darkness? If so have you ever done anything with them? Maybe release them under an alter ego or sell them to other bands or singers or do you rework them to fit the genre that everyone expects from you?
This may have already been suggested, but I think it would be pretty cool if you did something like this with one of your own tunes. Give a little breakdown of the musical structure and maybe share anecdotes about the writing or recording of the song. I know I would enjoy that.
2 good things about Harry, superb sledgehammer cover on Howard Stern plus Sarah Jones, his drummer formerly of Bloc Party fame amongst others. Well worth a watch.
Check out his cover of 'Sledge Hammer' on Howard Stern - he does a great job and shows his 'true potential' as a musician.
John Grant is great. I have that album. I also have a lot of respect for Harry Styles. Check out the live version of Sign Of The Times.
John grant is the dogs 🐕 😍
John Grant is amazing, thanks JH, Harry has a great team.
Wow! What a costume change! Nice one!!
Could you make me nostalgic more? At 5yo I went as "Jaws" for Halloween- Grey nylon suit and plastic shark mask "from cover of the book" with the logo across the chest. Ahhhhh
Your mentioning John Grant pointed me to a whole BBC philharmonic orchestra performance “I should be practicing my scales” lol…and many other caviars. 😂Talkabout treasure!
We don’t call you out on the note because we are all jazz enthusiasts… it’s not terribly controversial to jazzers.
You had me at the shark costume.
NEVER known what ANYONE has ever seen in Harry Styles!!! Even his supposed sex symbol status leaves me bewildered ... I'm obviously far too old! But Justin, we need to see more of you performing, loved you then, love you now.
His first album actually has some good music
Amazing and tasteful video as always Justin
100% with you on John Grant especially the Pale Green Ghosts album. There's a lot in it.
Shark Attack by Split Enz, great old song. Great costume change. I love your wardrobe choices. Has your cockerel walked away?
I'm a fan of Harry Styles and was not expecting the video to look like this. It's a stretch to deem him "King of Pop" since he's only had three solo albums. I think I like the first two albums better than "Harry's House".
I quite like the chromatic rundown in brass +backing via. baaaaaaaa bapbaaaaa bapbaaaa bapbaaaaa - gets me every time
Thank you for the john grant suggestion!
Justin, you are so right about John Grant...what an amazing song writer!! Funny, captivating, and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing about this wonderful artist.
"Mer-ma-squid"......... 🤣
Good vids King
Check out Matilda from his most recent album, Harry's House.
LOVE HARRY STYLES 🖤
where the frig did you get your hoodie from, Justin? I ask because I would love one similar.
I’d love you to review a Libertines/Babyshambles, or any Peter Doherty song, Justin. Your videos are my new favourite thing. 😊
Thank you for the John Grant recommendation. I found my new music rabbit hole to fall blissfully down into.
Squirmaid. I could go for some sushi. Banger idea, Harry. There is a video by the Japanese band Dir en Grey called Uroko (fish scales) about talking down a live mermaid as they eat her piece by piece. Fantastic stuff.
Omg I made a comment about that before I saw yours lol. Maybe now he'll finally react to them lol. I saw some other's bring them up on previous videos too so fingers crossed 🤞
@@elizabethdunn9658 Great minds, etc. Been a Dir en Grey fan for almost 20 years and didn't much appreciate their Americanized sound from touring with Korn and Nu Metal bands but when Arche came out and I heard Uroko I knew they had achieved a new plane of existence.
Yaaaarp; his producer for the new stuff is Kid Harpoon (Tom Hull) from out of my very own Medway Towns (and also home of DarknessWebLegend Robertshaw); worked on a bunch of Lilly Allen and Florence And The Machine stuff too; somewhat of a local boy done good!
I'm not a Harry fan just was watching for you and you came through with the costume change! Love
Interesting? You are very very kind, Justin.
If you want some more emotionally effective music from Harry, check out Matilda, Falling or Sign of the Times!
Also I think that first comment you replied to from the sushi video might’ve been a dig at Harry’s comments during the DWD press circuit 😬
Sign of the Times is a great song
@@musicalADD_theband it’s terribly underwritten for how long it is though.
@@Gino565 i think that even harder to pull off
Dood he barely even commented on the music that’s how little he felt for it. He praised the look but he had practically no opinion of the music it’s that bland and derivative. It’s almost more insulting than him outright hating it so I doubt he’s keen on listening to more Harry styles songs except for when he has to.
@@musicalADD_theband really? I don’t think he pulled it off. The song could’ve been cut in half and made 3 minutes and you wouldn’t really miss a thing.
Loving the shark outfit 🤣 you’re like a modern day Mr Ben 🤣🤣
His music would be truly uplifting in a lift
Love that you get a Harry haircut whenever you cover Harry. That’s commitment to the bit!
Agreed, John Grant is amazing!
that jumper is awesome, both of them, keep doin what you're doin legend 💯👌

Yes to John Grant! ‘I Wanna Go To Marz ’ is a favorite. Partial lyrics is reciting a diner menu❤

Ooff...that hoodie looks comfy!
Thanks so much for wearing your necklace at the Auckland show, it meant a lot.

Just when I thought you couldn't possible top yourself, you pull out the shark. 😂 I would absolutely love to go clothes shopping with you, it would be a total blast. 🚀 Nice one!
He has great fashion sense. That jumper was nice.
You absolutely must listen to Harry’s first album, specifically sign of the times, only angel, kiwi, sweet creature
I confess Watermelon sugar high is catchy. Funny enough though, it was a accapella cover version that got me into the song.
any note played with enough conviction and swagger is the right note 🤔
This music video actually brings to mind a dir en grey music video for their song Uroko lol. In that video there's like mermaid sushi. Very different song from this one though 😂
Sign of the Times is a moving song, Sir Justin…
Enjoyed your channel for a minute, but yeah, good luck with all this
Maj3 is a passing tone to "4", (subdominant), then "5" which is Dominant and takes you back to Tonic 1. Dorian Bebop scale.
The shark is THE one which is really weird because it is totally Dominant...unless it is wearing a collar.
the star of this video is the outfit! Well done, Justin 😃
I may be rather fond of overthinking, but what if this is the grim ending to his friendship with the fish from the 'Adore You' video?
Love the John Grant reference! Pale green ghosts is a masterpiece
Holy crab sticks that costume is epic Justin, Harry Styles has much to learn, the young pretender! 😜
again!
John Grant is amazing, so glad to know you like him!
