- Video of our fine grinding hammer mill for gold mining and milling. We have easily replaceable hammers and armor in our mills and depending on the screen size installed in the mill it will produce 1-2 tons/hr. With the finest screen we get about 1 ton per hour with 100% of the ground material passing a 20 mesh and 50-60% of the grind passing a 50 mesh screen. Just changed a $250,000 rotor on a hammer mill with a diameter of 7'. Cool to see this little guy, our hammers are 80 pounds lol. Coated with hiney liners.

We built our own. We used a big pipe around 2 feet across, then we filled it with smaller pipes, attached a motor and a gear to the big pipe, to make it spin, put it on a down ward slope, loaded from the upper end, comes out the bottom end. Runs dry, works good.

Hi Tom From Ayr in Scotland, I am looking to build one of your mills or something like it! I need to get a supply of Crushed glass for my Blast cabinet, Seems no one over here does units like that, So a Hammer Drill seems the answer. I will make a sort of rough version of your unit. Thanks for the comment about the bolt in screen. We are working our way in that direction. We have a bolt in screen for our recycling hammer mills (video coming soon) and it works great. The reason we still weld in our mining screen is miners usually don't change to different screen sizes, they stick with one screen for the fineness of grind they need, when it wears out they replace it and keep going. The other reason is it is hard to get a good tight tolerance all the way around the edges of the screen using a bolt in screen. In the next six months we are going to try and make the switch to a bolt in screen for all our hammer mills. Thanks again.

Due to the big gap between the hammer and the screen if you throw in a "little" rock wont just fall down to the bottom of the screen and stay there forever? Thank for the video, very informative.
+egamezl Hello. The gap between the hammers and the screen is about 3/8"-1/2" so it is pretty close. There will be some circulating load that will stay in the mill after you stop feeding. This is about 2 pounds worth of material and it will come out the next time material is fed into the mill. Thanks
