This board has a switch next to RAM, which is pressed from the bottom shell and it activates the battery.
Inseparable from this wire will remain so
yes the crazy back cover ... happened before but wasnt the battery it was the back cover itself not pressing down on that switch and figure it out by luck it was a stupid piece of plastic that will make the laptop dead
Hey Ervin, absolutely right, there is a button. That bridge it to gnd.
:O Wow, that made me chuckle. Thanks for the warning. I will keep a look out for that.
i have a laptop i fished out of an ewaste bin a while back that was stone dead with the battery plugged in, this video got me curious and i checked with a multimeter, this stupid little switch wasnt working unless i pressed really hard on it so after bypassing it i checked each battery cell they were at about 2.9volts so i charged them manually to 3.6 and then plugged it in... my laptop happily charges the battery and runs with it! Thanks for sharing this
11:43 - Mr. Sorin casually pulling out an actual scalpel and then basically performing surgery on the battery
Another amazing fix Sorin, achieved by determination and electronic fault finding skills.
Great video Sorin very educational . Thanks for sharing your electronic knowledge
You are a genius Sorin..thanks for sharing your knoweldge with us
Bravo Sorin.
Excellent find !
Bravo
Amazing detective skills (and advanced electronics knowledge)...chapeau!
Sorin you are the biggest electronics.
I am sure nothing else I find and solve that problem except you. ❤
Thanks a lot for sharing this huge amount of knowledge ❤❤❤❤❤
A great work with the discharged battery 👍👍
That was brilliant, you a still the master.i realy love to see how you work on multiple propblem laptops, you a guineus .
Perfekt :D I like that fraze PERFECT
I have read the comments about the battery bottom cover switch.
But i still believe that we have all learnt something.
(As Louis Rossmann would say )
I didn't know there's a switch connecting the enable pin to ground after reading the comments so i think this is a solid repair i just would put a tiny proper calibrated fuse instead of a solder blob imo, nice job
Each video is better than the last. It is amazing how you apply your instinct and knowledgement against some silly modern stupid and useless things that manufacturers do. ,,
Crazy stuff, ghood job sir :)
Good job mate 👍
Thank you.
Fantastic Sorin
You are Great - I love to see your Videos - The Best
Waw good job! I am so disapointed that some companies decide their computer can t work without a battery plugged in.. My computer works with no battery for years, hope for no general cut 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻😄 Thank you anyway for your videos! ❤
Many thanks Sir
Sorin the wizard. you're the best !
Excellent Sorin
i have NEVER seen anyone work on a battery before. this is god's work.
Thanks for this helpful video, logical question, what is the cause of this problem or it's a phenomenon, it's faulty related to the PCB or the battery, unless you have a protection switch pressed when the bottom cover is installed to enable the battery and run the laptop.
Waw that was amazing sir
Maybe that link from orange pin/wire continuation on motherboard is somewhere broked. At some point you can see where it goes that pin with a schematics. Maybe somewhere a chip disable the line to ground from that pin, and when battery died, that chip disabled line to ground from that pin.
Maybe if you upload a new fresh bios, it will work without that bridge.
Like a detective movie! Exciting and twisty! Amazing!
wow Sorin very impressive :)
Wow! and thank you. You are a genius lol👍
Sorin :) it's an acer laptop... there is a switch that cut off battery power when someone opens the RAM slot... this is made to not kill the ram controller during ram expansion :) check the memory expansion cover... you can find the switch.
Mine is an515-58 I can't spot it anywhere :,-)
@@_numbb Nitro is different, no switch
Wow, I never would have guessed a battery ground issue. Learned something new - thank you !!!
@Mr Guru yes - I saw that in the follow up video - guess we can't all know everything or repairs would be boring🥴 I agree, a very stupid design.
you are a great master
Nice video
I learnt more from the video. but my question is, is it not possible for the laptop to turn on with adapter only (with the battery unplugged)
Hi, Sorin. I'm not quite sure, but there's a device missing in your channel repairs list. I think it would be very interesting to fix up a NoBreak device for an electronics repairs school. Just for give us a break (no pun...!) from laptops and phone repairs. Regards.
In my case my laptop is turning on. When I open some intensive apps like games it automaticaly shutdown with no reason. I already cleaned the fan and changed the thermal paste
Great teachers
Great and really useful video. The first actual 'shortcut' would be to literally Google the model and 'orange LED slow flash'. I don't know the model, but to me that looked like the laptop is reporting a battery problem the moment it started flashing. The fix, ingenious. But the first shortcut seemed to get missed. 🙂
Provides good content for us, but no idea why a computer shop doesn't just see that fault indicator and order a new battery. Of course, that doesn't always fix the issue but I'd guess it's pretty much what 90% of computer shop techs would do first before putting it on the mobo repair pile.
what part of the board is making that led orange blink? charging ic? or superio or bios?
@Mr Guru thanks, another question is sorin always explained that the superio fetch some data in the bios and store it in itself and most get corrupted and you must perform a cmos reset is this common?
@Mr Guru ohh thanks clear and clear now, the southbridge is change to chipset from motherboard pc and laptops chipset and on some lower laptops like asus and acer is built in the cpu almost. thanks alot.
Mine is slowing blinking as well I'm not able to spot the button the prevents the laptop from activating anywhere mine is Nitro an515-58
There's an smd switch near the ram: when the back cover is closed, that switch is normally pressed and closed and needs to be so or the computer won't neither work nor charging the battery.
I think there is switch to enabling the battery
Interesting
No power to the chip where dus it supposed to come from? If there is no wire soldered
Can we replace laptop battery pcb (bms) with other battery but I have not same model battery can we replace with other models
Was that Pin 3 the "system present" pin? That really should be connected to ground. I can't imagine why it was not. A very strange problem!
@@MrTGuru Ah. So Sorin repaired a design flaw by running a jumper wire to ground. Good fix.
@Mr Guru The design was just implemented poorly, the idea was basically good. There are improved designs nowadays with this kind of safety feature. The idea is that you don't have to detach the battery for memory installation etc.
Genius
I have a similar issue with my acer laptop. But theing is that sometimes it'll charge fine. Sometimes the orange light will blink. Sometimes the orange light will never come on. Other times when it is charging just fine, and i just start a heavy application or connect my phone to my laptop to charge, it will start blinking again and the chargung will be improper. Could this just be a charger issue? Because i have noticed that when i try to adjust my power cord it may go from working to not working. And not working to working
If you have electronic trouble, try removing the button cell, all other parts, and leave the motherboard for one day. The laptop will full reset.
Owesome
I hate these types of faults, why do manufacturers use these stupid ID pins to things like battery OR charger. They over complicate things that should function simply. Good job Sorin for finding the fault once again.
WOW this laptop is just like my Acer aspire 3 only deference is mine has nvidia graphic everything else is the same my motherboard model is LA-E892P
😄sorin, no matter what piece of crap it is, it's always "it's a nice laptop"
sir der A battery Schick on ram side to use plz puss this bontun and battery charger
😂😂😂 Wow Dodge Repair... I Love It...
I Want To Ask One Question...
As We Put A Jumper Wire Externally To Enable The Battery...
So Is There Any One More Fuse Or A Resistor Internal Side Of The Battery PCB, Which Is Doing The Job Of Enable The Battery By Default... 🤔
As You Are Saying It Must Be Enable By Default...
menakjubkan
I see the video your battery connected not properly sold
Ugly fault and brilliant solution. Great, Sorin!.
Sir i need bio this laptop can you give me
Insane job it was but informative. Thanks.
so weird. I Wonder what it was
WoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoW amazing 👍👍👍👍👍👍
😊😊😊i literally died when you said "lets solder that pin to ground" gj Sorin
@Mr Guru man its not about what he did,i understand electronics, I laugh how he said it,Mr Sorin has humor 😅😅😅
😍
Wau,this was challenging even for master himself!
But Sorin solved it gracefully as always, nice job!
simply a piece of jumper wire for solving stupid mechanism 🎉
Fault finding of the highest order .. you should of been a detective 😂😂 .
Thanks for the education here, next time I'm stuck on a problem il remember this one and keep at it . Best of luck Sorin
Tricky fault! By the way, what device do you use to diagnose the battery?
www.laptopu.ro/
I think sorin also made a video about this device
edit: search for this on youtube: Laptops Batteries Repair Tool - Best tool to repair/replace cells/reset laptop batteries and DJI
CRAZY !!!!! Always learning.
Awesome diagnosis process!!!
sorin, did you find any other way to unlock a battery without this device?
It was very interesting, a tough fixing.
Always impressed by how much sorin can infer from such small amount of information
battery on/off button have this model close back cover battery charging and good job for battery reparing BOSS
always we learn new stuff ,thank you for sharing all thjose information
I just repaired a Dell doing the same thing. I tried everything. Last thing on my list was to replace the cmos battery. Dell is now working!
Възхищавам се на лекотата с която прилага знанията си ! :)
Can it be legal issue if fixed battery catch fire later ?
A diode in line with that negative(orange) wire maybe blown? Be nice to know why negative was lost. That was some VERY useful info to know! Thanks Sorin!
Hahaa, clearly that pin is not going to ground, but i don't want to know where is going and how that battery is getting enabled, neah, i'm just happy it's working :D
No Sorin, No fix :)
Some Acer laptops has a switch which pressed by the bottom cover of the laptop and then only battery activate(protection system). maybe this is the reason sir
i think on board have a switch for activate charging, when the cover is removed the switch is open.
I think above the ram on the right side of that 8 pin soic there is a switch and thats probably a chassis sensor to check if the back is closed, probably that one shorts the enable pin to ground as soon as the back is closed
my framework laptop has one of these switches as well and it makes both charging lights flash when the laptop is still on and open
edit: still doesnt explain why the flashing charging light went away and came back later :/ maybe someone else got an idea
My Nitro keep flashing slowly 🤕
this is insane
Normal ca iubim lenea :))
interesting
