The Tamassos Sword

The Tamassos Sword is an Iron Age silver studded sword from the 6th century BCE. After lying in the ground for some 2,400 years Fitzwilliam Museum scientists and conservators have undergone extensive research to understand how this sword was made. Learn more about its history in this film.

Deeply disturbed to hear that Fitzwilliam scientists and conservators have been lying in the ground for some 2400 years, but impressed and delighted that they have nevertheless been able to produce so fine a video.
