In my city the property owner handles the easement that technically belongs to the city. They can’t possibly do every single yard in town. If it’s an abandoned property you can call and someone will mow it.
That strip of sidewalk is so much safer thanks to you guys. Older people trip in that long grass very easily. Thank you both for all the effort and for caring.

Your dad is a very fit man because he did all the physical work cleaning up this unmaintained sidewalk - line trimming, shovelling, edging, bagging clippings, raking, etc… I take my hat off to him - he’s a powerhouse! Maybe next time you could distribute the workload more evenly so your dad doesn’t have to do all the work.

In most cities, the city ordinance states that the property owner is responsible for the care and maintenance of the sidewalk and tree row that is adjacent to their property. Which is a nice way of telling property owners that you have to mow the tree row that belongs to the city.

That sidewalk looked like it hadn’t been trimmed in years. It’s much safer now, and looks a lot nicer. You should get a couple of those bright yellow safety vests to wear when you’re working in a hazardous environment like this ❤️

That was a real mess that you guys expertly cleaned up. I used to live on a very busy street where I also maintained a multi-unit property. I know from experience that working on a piece of property with heavy traffic whizzing by going 35-45 mph just adds another level of stress to a job like that.
