- I found what I think is going to be a really slick solution for my 2 X 72 belt grinder's dust collection. This stuff will allow me to easily move my dust collection in various positions and will work with all my different belt grinder attachments. I should have installed this thing years ago. I bought it on Amazon and here is an affiliate link if you are interested yourself: amzn.to/34fRdBn

About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

Dude.......... that arm is so legit!
Thanks buddy 👍
Your Lathe reminded me of a story. In my father's younger days as an apprentice machinist, he worked in a heavy-duty machine shop. They would work on massive industrial things. There was a lathe that was large enough that you could fit a car. He told me that someone had started the lathe without the chuck being locked on and the chuck unthreaded and launched through the wall and into the parking lot.
He also told me about someone getting shavings caught on their ankle and it cut his tendon.
I'd love to have a metal lathe!
Now the Machinist is coming out...good job, Jeremy
Haha, thank you. Fun to have these little projects to use skills that I don’t get to use too much.
Awesome vid
I love how the dust collector can be used in multiple ways and how it’s mounted to the belt grinder stand.😎😀
Thanks 👍
Sweet
He’s back! Yippee! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Your Millwright skills are showing ...Nicely done....
Thank you 👍
Nice job!👍
Very clever grand master!
That will be solution for my grinder. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you - great info - appreciate it.
Kewl idea and setup, that ability to move it around is great :)
This is great. Well done!
Thank you!
Man that turned out pretty cool
Looks like a great product. Definitely picking it up. Personally, I could 3D print a stronger tab for it, and many of them, so I could move the arm to various benches in the shop. Thanks for sharing.
That is actually a really great system. Ill see if I can find it here in Sweden and fixate it in between the grinders. Thanks for the tip!
I really like that as a solution. Well done.
Love your videos BTW.
Thanks for sharing....
Thank you! I think it’s going to save a lot of time with the bolting/unbolting of the old system. Thank you for watching! I really do appreciate it👍
Great project. It like one of those GoPro clamp mounts but for dust collection. Always impressed with the way you work, keep it up Jeremy! 💪🏻
Thanks Brian! Much appreciated 👍
LOVE this idea! I have the water exchanger for my grinder setup but honestly I never really use it much for steel and its a PITA because I have to move the catcher when I put on the surface grinder attachment. I like how this just moves out of the way!
Thanks for the video. I have been deciding whether I should get a dust collector in my shop
My experience has been 100% worth it. 👍
Certainly a step up from the system you used to use out in the SeaCan. Mind you, that thing holds up for as long as the shop-vac you have it attached to, and if the shop-vac goes down, you just move the system to a new one! The one I won from you a couple of years ago is STILL going strong! Cheers!
Knifemaker here (peu.net), be sure not to use with steels, the sparks heat up pretty quickly and will burn holes thru it. I made one with my 3D Printer way thicker than what you purchased and this gives me a bit of time to throw some water. Keep an eye on the sparks. I like the idea of the flexible arm a lot!
I have some of this for the dust collection on my drill press. A little pricey but nothing I've found does a better job.
Nice, plus you have the UF colors.
6:21 I like your hold down thing!
I was looking at that too thinking how cool that was.
Very cool! It’s always satisfying when a tool upgrade works out. Are you going to try and make a spark arrester so you can run the vacuum for metal dust as well?
Very nice! Looks like we can purchase the 1ft sections for ~$15 ea. also and make the ends if already have close enough. Or if want just the ends, they're about ~$5-6. US pricing from what I see. Really like how you've setup so works out between two machines. Handy, thanks for sharing!
NIce!! I've been trying to figure out something like this. It's just hard with the little space I have. Great idea though. Hope all is well, take it easy..
Thanks Dave👍
Watching you walk straight into that tall dry grass on a sunny day and picking up a nice warm pipe near on have me a heart attack, you didn’t even stomp or kick it to try scare off snakes 😂😂
Hahaha that’s funny. We don’t have any snakes here. I think the last time I saw a snake around here was a garter snake when I was 7 years old. I don’t even think we have a single venomous critter here. Just -40° which I guess kills them off 😄👍
Simple Little Life now there’s the question- would I rather -40 degree weather or dealing with snakes
Exactly! Definitely a trade off. I’m an odd fellow, I love the cold weather. Especially skiing 👍
Nice video the punch you use to center the hole. Where can I buy this set?
I wonder if you attached a stiff paint brush to the back end of the dust collector if it'd act as a wiper and knock the embedded dust off the belts some.
This is great! Wonder if I can hook up to my shop vac for now until I get a dust collector 🤔
Yes! They actually have adaptors in the kit that mount to most shop vacs. Just roll it where you need it. I actually almost want another one just for my shop vac for other areas around the shop 👍
@@Simplelittlelife this is definitely a lifesaver! Thanks for recommending. I've been Jerry rigging and holding the vac hose in one hand. Just seems like an accident waiting to happen 😂
That absolutely invaluable pile of scrap that the wife keeps asking when you're going to get rid of. They will never understand.
Hahaha! Exactly. I always want to clean it up myself but then times like this come up and I’m glad I have it 👍
Hey do you have any tips for how to get the belts to track better on the kmg. I have the same one and my belts have about .125” of movement left to right. I am using a flat platen with a single speed 1.5hp motor and 3 speed pully adjustment. That’s all I can afford at the time and I want to make the most out of it. Thanks!
Have you verified it’s not the belts that are the problem. Unless there is something loose they should be running consistent. I have had some belts that were just not cut correctly and had that back and forth tracking.
@@Simplelittlelife Thanks for getting back to me. It is entirely possible. I have noticed some belts have run straight and some that move. Any belt recommendations? Brands or places to buy them?
some-to-think-about, mmmmmmmm, ok.
how bout connecting a Mafell 85Ec to a Festool CTM26E ...
👍🏼🍺👊🏼
I know you’ve been dying to find a project to use that tig machine on😂
Exactly! Then it would have done just fine but why do that when I have a new tig right?
How much extra hose did you add?
I bought two of the kits. I ended up using 1/2 of the second set. I figured I could save the rest and swap out individual connections as they start to wear out.
To keep ist moveable I have attached mit to my Tools with a neodym magnet. Works very well. Great stuff.
That build really sucks, nice work😃
Hahahaha! Sure does 👍
First to comment
Woohoo! 😄👍
I hope you can get a refund on the box of CrackeJacks your welding ticket came in....😜🤣 Now that the trolls are satisfied.. seriously that's looking good! I like that solution, and the bonus of hitting both grinders at once👍 keep up the great work
Hahaha!!! Just a little better than bubble gum😆 Thanks 👍
@@Simplelittlelife I've progressed from bubble gum to runny pigeon poo🤣
