In this video, I review the Behringer P1 personal in-ear headphone amp. This monitor is perfect if you need a wired in-ear monitor solution that sounds great and has stereo functionality. We are using it for the drummer in our worship band. While this setup works great for any worship musician, I recommend it most for keyboardists or drummers.

Little bit of a week 2 update, i'm still a firm believer of this thing and still find it great it's a must for everyone.
Hi mate, great video! thank you.. anyway what s the name of the app? I cant find it in the app store
“Only” $1000-2000. Such a different world over here. We’d have to stop paying rent on our building to get a new mixing desk.
In-ear monitoring is equally important for all the atheist progressive death metal bands too! 😁
Of course!
Martin Václavík okaayy that works too
Im in an atheist Metal Core band Lmao
As someone who plays both worship music, and melodic death metal I agree completely.
Y’all are pathetic.
I'm a touring drummer with 2 bands. This thing is amazing. Couldn't live without it
Thanks for sharing!
I have a few of those and they work great for me! All you said is correct. You do a great job! God bless you more!
My drummer uses it too! We bought it about a month ago, and in europe it is even cheaper! What a great company you are behribger....😍
In a previous video , you were talking about a multi-headphone amplifier. I said stringing unbalanced headphone cables across the stage was a b ad idea. I offered this exact model as the much better solution. I'm glad to see you took it.
Love love love the P1; and that’s without the X32 even. That being said, I’m excited to receive our recently ordered X32 and S32 stage box to run the P1. Thanks for all the help you provide Josh!
Awesome product im using for almost few months and its crystal clear
Had a couple of those in our hybrid wireless/wired IEM setup and they worked great for my team. Had them primarily for my keyboardist and drummer as well. Vocalist and instrumentalist were on wireless packs. Great choice for doing in ears on a budget.
👍Thanks for sharing, Joel!
FYI you dont need a modern digital mixer to use the P1. P1 comes with XLR balanced inputs and any old school analog mixer like the Mackie 1604 (even first gen.) has (1/4in) balanced aux outputs so all you need is a balanced 1/4 to XLR male cable to get the job done. Great vid Jake. Keep em coming.
This product is good for both Church or gigs. I use one alot and love it.
Jake, another cool wired option I've used, is the Art Headamp 6 Pro. Single rack space with 6 stereo mixes. Rack it with your stage box, and then you only have to send a single headphone cable to each musician; no need for dual XLRs, batteries or AC power. I've even plugged the returns from the fan side of a 50' snake into the Headamp, and then run headphone cables from the stage drop, and it worked great. Cheers!
Nice, I'll check it out. Thanks for sharing!
I use the P1 and it works great. I have a custom guitar cable that is combined with a IEM cable. I have the P1 on the floor by my helix and I basicly plug my IEM's into my guitar cable. I made one cable and had one loomed together for me. The custom loomed cable was $100. The one I made was about $50 with 2 quality cables and some gaff tape every 1' of so :)
nice!
I use this very amp and it does the job at a very affordable price.
We started using this exact setup at my youth worship group around 6 months ago and do not regret a thing! We absolutely love the functionality of it, specially the stereo option, if you have the outputs for it, then USE IT. It makes a huge difference listening to the click on one ear and whatever you want on the other, or just set it up however you want it. The Behringer P1 is a beast, and does not break the bank at all! Trust me, if you have the money, go for it, it made our IEM experience way better!
👍👊
I use one of these at our church. I play drums and it works great. We split the feed to one of our wedges and send it to the P1. Then, just to be crazy we split out of the P1 so the guitar player has in ears as well. Certainly not ideal but until we get a digital board it works just fine. Of course we both have to have the same mix but it works.
Thanks for sharing?
I’m a drummer, and use this amp. It’s awesome!
I'm the lead guitarist and vocalist in my band. So I'll just velcro one of these to my pedalboard, and then have a 15ft headphone extension cable going to me. So then all my big cables all run to my pedalboard, and then only my guitar cable and headphone cable go to me
I got to of those at my church for my piano player and my bass player and it works perfectly have had no problems till this day, couldn’t of made a better purchase than that, it’s great and a cheap
Nice! Thanks for sharing.
We've had these at our Church for awhile now and they work great. They are big and heavy though I've never tried clipping it to myself as it's just too big and heavy with the cables hooked in as well, I use a stand for it. Our complaint is our send mix like you said everyone wants their own mix so upgrades required to other equipment but these P1's are great.
Thanks for sharing Dan!
Thanks for all the tips dude. Brazil it’s in a House 🇧🇷
👍👊 thanks for the support Edgard
Ohhh yeah!!!!
Cool! I prefer a small mixer though. As a drummer I need to plug my metronome in. Thank you for your videos.
If not mistaken, you can plug your metronome click into the other channel of the Behringer P1 too? So u can have the mix on one side, and your metronome on the other
We have 6 of these + 4 wireless units. One of our soundguys made special cables for P1s - they are combined XLR + barrel plug to deliver both signal and power from where the digital stagebox is. We don't like to rely on batteries as they can give up unpredictably so having mains power is a must. With the combined cables we don't have to run electricity to each and every P1 box and have a tangle of cables near the musician.
mikosoft Interesting! How are the cables wired exactly? Are the P1’s getting phantom power from the board?
We have used those boxes for a while, but we placed box to the guitar pedalboard so then you can use only regular headphone cable (and also taped those 2 cables to 1) so then 3 hanging cables isnt a problem
Super demo grts Marc
Thankyou brothers
God bless you my brother, thanks for your tutorials videos it's a big support for me, I just need your help because in my church I'm setting the audio so we got a sound craft si mixer and I need your help about the crossover dbx 234xs, about the front control recommend the low, mid low and high, when and how can I use the x10 if it is necessary for 2 ways because when I active the x10 the sound canche. I hope you can make a tutorial video about the crossover dbx 234xs. I really need it. Thank you so much and God keep bless you so much.
This is kinda blowing my mind right now. if i'm understanding correctly....can i use my mackie dl16s and setup mix bus as described here and then behringer to go STereo Wired for each band members iems? We are a 4 piece. You may have made our band feel and sound so much better because of this video!!! thank you!
Sound nood here.
I've bought the P1 and we love it so far! However our church is growing and we are in demand for more. Our digital mixer at our church is a little old and only has 4 bus return channels. Our singers use the Audio 2000, so they all share a mix and take up 1/4 busses. That leaves 3 open buses but I need enough for 6 musicians. Is there anyway to split up the mix or some type of distributer I can buy to to get more buses/returns? Our snake is also an analog snake. Given that we are a set up/tear down church, would investing in a digital snake be the best move? Or is there any alternatives? Thanks!
jake, quick question... you still send the signal from the behringer headphone amp to these smaller headphone amps right? and if so, do you just max out the volume from the big unit, then let those who have the smaller unit, adjust on their own?
When using the P1 and listening through my in-ers the sound coming through should already be EQ’d with the way it is on the mixer correct?
For the mic stand attachment, how do you remove the 3/8" thread adapter in order to access the 5/8" hole? I tried a tool to unscrew it but it won't budge!
God bless you bro , we just upgraded to all powered speakers 2 EV 15s , 2 EV 18s . couldn't afford the powered monitors yet , so were using 4 passive monitors , 1 for keys , 1 for drummer , and 2 for vocals . i got a behringer x32 because of you lol , how can i connect the power amp to x32 , to use the passive monitors . until we can get powered monitors ?
Is there anyway you could add a wireless mic cable on to it making a wireless belt pack for cheaper purposes?
Gday JakeJust wondering if you created your intro/logo 25-30sec mark? What program did you use to create it? thanks
What's the advantage of this compared to plugging directly into a rack headphone amp like the HA8000? Wouldn't you still get stereo control from a TRS if you're otherwise set up for stereo?
How does the balance knob effect 2 channel input (Behringer P1)? Is it worth having their own instrument split between FOH snake/mixer & Ch1 and a shared mix into Ch2 so they could hear themselves plus share a mix? The best option is to have the full control of a mix sent from the FOH digital mixer (eg. the 8 to 16 mixes from the X32 family) or a 16Ch personal monitor mixer (eg. P-16M). My church started with a A&H Qu-16 so mixes are more limited. The guitar/keyboard/drums would love themselves 5 to 10db louder than a shared mix but the instruments probably don't give the right levels for the P1 to mix with. I guess the P1 works best with the line level from a mixer.
My personal PA rig is a Behringer X32 rack (with Sd16 I/O box) and I've got 3 P1's wired in stereo and 3 P16 mixers for a total of 6 stereo IEM mixes- not counting my wireless IEM setup that I can patch in as well. If you have the X32 and growing needs for wired IEMs, the P1's are a good start, but really look into the P16's, which give personal mix control to the player (with some limitations). But for $50-ish, you can't go wrong with the P1!
Which app do use for the P1s. I presume it’s different from the X32 app?
@@rodneysmith8863 I like Mixing Station, but the regular app works fine. There's also Mix-Q or something that is a very simplified layout just for monitor mixing. I hand my guys a tablet that is already set up to just their mix (I still control channel Gains and EQ's)...
So I’m wondering if this would work in the club/bar/other venue scene? That may or may not be up to date with the mixing board. So all that is really needed is an XLR that would power a wedge correct?
for the worship leader school are you also teaching me about sound board, Ableton, logic, and everything else?
Hey Jake,
why did you choose to buy this, when you had the Powerplay HA8000 before? With this you can also make Stereo-Monitoring - so why would you say the Behringer P1 is better for the drummer? (let's say except controlling volume without going to the HA8000)
I would be very glad for an answer!! :-)
Good evening. My church has a X32 and we just purchased the P1 for the musicians. Which app should they download to control their P 1 and not the entire board?
We don’t have an S16/32. So I got two HA8000 and replaced the two wedges on stage that was generating too much room noise. One HA8000 is mixed with all the vocals and the other HA8000. Then each member gets both mixes to their P1. Our Pastor in the band uses Bluetooth earbuds connected to a little 3.5mm bluetooth transmitter. One of our singers uses the same bluetooth transmitter and her iPhone (the P1 was too bulky for her). I am trying to get a digital snake...baby steps.
I have a question is the Behringer in-ear module able to have a microphone ran from the front of a guitar cab to the actual Behringer wireless? like the end of the mic cable plug it into the Behringer XLR , as a drummer I'm real curious, so straight mic cable from the guitar cab being mic'd up , into the wireless box???
Can you use in ear monitor on analog mixers with 1 aux send to the band that you mix the vocals and band instruments to just that aux send. How do you setup an in ear monitor with this setup?
Just wondering, If you only use 1 xlr in (mono), can you still pan different instruments left or right thru the X Air Q app? Thanks
Hi Jake, I'm using these P1s at church but if I have my in ear headphones in and plug them in there is a loud pop sound which hurts my ears. I tried turning it off, plugging the headphones in then turning it on but there is still a big sound from turning it on. Since we're coming up to the stage up to 5 times in the church meeting putting in my headphones on stage once I have already plugged them in isn't really an option. Have you noticed this? What do you do?
Hi bro. Are you familiar with Zoom AMS 24? Can I use that for IEM? Thanks for your video and answering my question.
So question.. This has more to do with headphones than the set up. But who should provide the headphones? My church is currently supplying a couple sets for our 4 singers and our drummer. But over time the drummer breaks a set or we have a set with additional singers or guest musicians.
Shouldn't the singers/musicians be the ones providing headphones to go with the ministries wireless system?
Hi. Do you know if this can work plugged directly into a pedalboard without a mixer in between? I would like to use it for practicing at home with my pedals without needing a mixer but concerned it might not give enough volume?
Hi! Can I use the Aux Out's TRS from the X32, to my P1, instead of XLR's X32 outputs? It would be the same? Thanks!!!
Hey Jake, great video! Do you recommend mono or stereo in-ear? Is stereo that much better than mono?
Starting out you won’t find it too different but ince you start dialing things in it makes a HUGE difference.
Looking at getting the p1 for the band at church. still running an analog desk with only 4 aux channels so a few of the band need to share. is it possible to get the p1 to link together so 2 people can have the same mix with their own p1 box
I purchased a P1 for my self, but my drummer took it over...and he uses full size headphones and wont part with it...LOL. Been trying to figure out how to get him a stereo mix from my Behringer XR16 DIGITAL MIXER into his headphones. Anyone have any info on how to accomplish this? I've been unable to find any info on how to perform this and cables needed. HELP! Thanks so much. Really like your videos. Jake....keep em coming.
I am trying to decide between the behringer P1 and P2. I am using the mee audio m6 pro. P1 seems a bit quieter than the P2. However the two inputs are great. Is it loud enough? I guess it is.
I'm a keyboardist and I prefer wireless... Of course it is more expensive but it's my thing... Haha good video!
Haha we all prefer wireless.
Great video! How do you incorporate the click for a drummer?
I would have my main monitor mix in one input and a metronome that I would control in the second. Means having to trust your drummer for setting the tempo each song but everyone could use a trust exercise every once in a while.
I just got 2 of these for our worship team at church. Jake, first of all, great video as always. Secondly, do you know if there is a way to to send a mono signal to both sides of the earbuds? Thanks!
I believe when you have it in Mono mode it will mic the feed to both sides and when you pan it will just increase the volume of one over the other.
Churchfront with Jake Gosselin thanks for the reply. These work great! We have an M32 and and DL32. The integration with these are perfect!
Can you have like pop-ups of images of the stuff that you're describing when you describe them? Sounds like gibberish when you describe what you're explaining, but when you see it, everything would probably make sense. Thanks!
Can u run two keyboards into each in put and still here both in each hear?
So if I'm playing live can a guitar amp connect to this and I can listen to him ?
hello, I'm from Chile! I have a question: Can I connect the signal of a Line Out D.I of an instrument amplifier? Like for example a Line out of a bass or guitar amplifier? ... And so have a personal return, in addition to the sound that is emitted by the amplifier? Or is it exclusively for the auxiliary signal of a mixer? regards
I know this is a long time coming but yes that will work. You would have to have your monitor mix from the console in mono but you would set your P1 up as stereo. Basically, your monitor mix would be in one ear and your instrument would be in the other. It's kind of redundant though. You would already have your instrument in the monitor mix and you can adjust the level to your liking with the M32-Q app.
@@TheKajunkat I don't need a return from the mixer, just from my amp. I have the Laney A1 Plus acoustic amp that has an XLR-DI output. Can you connect that amp output to the Behringer P1 for personal feedback?
This is apart from the sound that the amplifier's speaker emits itself.
Is it good for studio recording??? That’s the question my equipments on the go...
Can I ask a question. I play saxophone. I tend to make a lot of mistakes because I can't heat my saxophone before making the huge mistake on my notes. I just want to hear it louder but I can't turn it up because we have conversational monitors in front of us all. My band partners wouldn't appreciate it if the saxophone sounds louder than their own instrument of course. Lol. so my question is. Is this monitor system good for that. So I can hear my saxophone louder than the rest of the instruments? Thanks a lot. Blessings to you.
I'm a drummer at my church and I was just wondering is it possible to setup a click system so that I can hear the click and the band using the behringer p1??
Can i connect my regular metronome? i use Korg M30 or Korg BeatLab, sorry im beginner drummer.
Hi new to this in ear monitor will it work with an analogue mixer. And what all do I need to get started? I play drums and sings
Can I leave a rechargeable battery in the P1 and never take it out with the power adapter plugged in to prevent for it to turn off if the adapter fails?
would it be safe the leave a rechargeable battery in there with the power adapter?
We have the personus 16.. can I use any kind of digital snake? I have a reg one we using now. I need to go in ear for the 4 pc band. Pls help we’re new to this
I have the presonus 24.4.2 am I able to do this set up? I know my mixer is old🙃 I have a snake (not digital) going to the stage
Is it not possible to get a stereo mix using the Behringer ha800v2?
can i plug the input of this device into the output of the stagemonitor output?thanks
Question : what camera did you use? You got a nice bokeh.
Can I record my input using the headphone out?
I use analog mixer dynacord powermate 16 channel can I use behringer for iem system ? I dont know where I put in
I have an x32 and s16. how can I have my people use the app for individual mixes?
Can you give me a list of everything i need to run IEM. I am a singer and guitarist. thank you.
Hi... one question... I need an in ear monitor like this.. but in my church ich musician have just one line stereo.. If I conect just one line stereo can pan to right or left? Or R and L line work like mono?
Always seen your videos
Not sure I totally understand the questions. Can you unpack this a little more?
Hi, I have a question. I know the basic about increasing the volume of my instrument and mic but how can I increase the volume of a specific instrument or vocal other than my instrument/mic thru my in ear monitor only. If I raise the vol of others they will be equally go up.... we have a behringer mixer 16 input in my church and planning on buying a rolls pm 351 in ear monitor cuz that's the only thing I can afford. Do I nid a specific device to do this?
God bless
do you need the snake box? We are a really small church and the board is close to the band
Can you use this with just one xlr input (mono) rather than stereo?
Yes, you'll just switch it to mono mode
Can you do a review of Gear4Musics new own brand wireless IEM kit?
I'll check them out!
Can this be used to heat the piano and bass player?
Is there an in-built limiter on the P1 and P2? As a safety measure for unexpected bang (from mic drops, feedback, equipment power shutdown, etc) in your ear which could potentially damage your hearing for lifetime?
Hearing damage (which I'm a major victim of), is due to exposure over a long period of time, (i.e. >85 decibels over an 8-hr period). Short burst loud noises don't usually cause hearing damage. I'm not saying they can't, but it would be rare for a singular headphone event to cause permanent damage. Standing next to a nuclear explosion, yeah that probably would :) but headphone/earbud speakers aren't strong enough to damage in a singular mic drop, feedback, etc. event.
Hi can we put a metronome sound in one of the input?
Hi!! Can i use headphone amp for in ear monitoring?
I'm curious, how do i run 5 band members stereo mixes with the x32 producer, it only has 6 bus mixes as #7 qnd #8 are assigned to main out
Left and right. Love your vids vy the way. Nice work.
you can't then. you would need 10 bus mixes to run 5 stereo mixes.
@@emmanuelfafunso5194 thanksbso much. Ive ran the last memeber out of the aux in stereo, this make routing interesting but im hoping to also get another 6th out for my lead singer who wants to run shure witeless iem for live shows . Can i run one bus mix to two different physical outs.
Do you need a mixer if you are only using it for one person?
Does the P1 need to have 2 xlr imputs or can I just put in 1 on the left for example?
You can just put one on the left mono and then adjust your mix from the app or whatever board you’re using. Just like a floor wedge.
@@christysuperneau3861 which app did you use for the P1?
Hey jake my church currently uses the 16 digital snake & we have 8 musicians & the drums are mic up, would we have to upgrade to the 32 so we could all run this?
Yeah get whatever console or snake you need to have enough monitor mixes
I dont understand the difference between using a p1 vs a p2 in stereo mode. Dont they produce the same result? Can someone please educate me?
Can you use talkback mics with these ?
Hey, question.. does it have to be a digital mixer in order for this to work?
Jose Castaneda No. You should be able to plug this unit into one of the Aux sends from an analog mixer and receive signal just fine
How does it setup to shure in ear monitors and 6 channel mixture
Does this work with Yamaha Digital Mixer boards?
Hey Jake, Whats your wireless solution
Awesome review!!! What do you think about the behringer p2
It looks awesome! I plan on making a review of that in the near future as well.
Thanks!
I’ve been wondering that aswell!!!
They are pretty hard to get hold of, I've had a back order since August, looks like I'll be waiting till the new year for stock here in the UK.
NestCam wow! They’re already available here in the states
What type of in ear headphone do you recommend?
Nice piece of gear! Have you checked out the Behringer PM1? Since you don’t use the PAN on your body-pack itself, this would be so much cheaper and you only need one wire coming from your stereo rack amp. We are using this setup in our church and it’s super reliable. You don’t even have to change batteries.
The PM1 is not an amp, just a volume controller, so you really need to feed it from a headphone amp (which he has covered here before) but that's extra expense. A better option would be the newer P2 body back which is much slimmer, same size as PM1, but is a headphone amp that can take in a mono or stereo, with a custom XLR or TRS, signal and does away on device panning. The main issue is getting hold of one as they are in very short supply. I've been waiting almost 12 months for decently priced stock in the UK.
Yeah I’m a little unclear about how the stereo functionality would work with the pm1 or p2. I’ve gotta research it more.
Churchfront with Jake Gosselin Hi, you could use a y cable. Trs- 2 female xlrs
It’s not balanced though. I use this set up with a rolls amplifier and have had no issues.
@@tekhieboy Currently Gear4Music have the P2 in stock @ £26, the P1 is £35 through them too.
