Plus Nintendo is charging 80$ for an extra joy con set and 70$ for the pro controller. More than either of their competitors. Nintendo's pricing is going to hurt them, at least somewhat.

the more I think about it, the more the Nintendo switch becomes a hybrid between the Wii U, the Wii, and the old cartridge systems, and the Nintendo DS... Seriously, it takes concepts from all of them and puts them together quite nicely with some new features.... Please tell me i'm not the only one thinking this XD

Yeah they did mention that they've incorporated ideas from all their past consoles into this one. The problem is, I'm not confident that the Switch will do any one thing particularly well. UGH and I wish they would have stopped with the damn motion controls. It's 2017... we were over that shit years ago!

If the upgraded Switch that will inevitably come out in 2-3 years can boost the power and give third parties a good platform to develop on, then that'll be a major game changer.

Um, have you not been paying attention? Its a hybrid, and in order to keep it affordable (and from blowing up) and also portable compromises had to be made. it's powerful enough to get the job done, playing good games

I've even heard some say it's cause they want Nintendo to become third party so they can play Nintendo games on their consoles, while others hate for no reason.

Nintendo has a bad habit of innovating their consoles but not their games. Xbox and Playstation essentialy release the same console with different specs, but innovate with their games.
Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, etc are pretty freaking innovative to me.

odyssey is just like mario 64 but in new york and such, and Breath of the Wild just looks like ocarina and windwaker combined. They need to mix up their main titles. They tried with splatoon, but made an average game in my opinion. They need a new character that they can be associated with whenever someone thinks "Nintendo", not some kids covered in paint.

Odyssey is just like Mario 64 but in New York, omg please stop your going to make me cry. Even if that's the case do you realize how long it's been since Super Mario 64? There aren't too many games that come out that are like SM64 either. I'm not even going to touch the BotW thing because that's even more ridiculous.
I would bring out examples for PS and Xbox, but honestly I think they do a fine job with their IPs and don't feel like starting a petty console war discussion. But two obvious examples: Halo and God of War.

It's the best console launch in Nintendo's history as a company, including the original Wii. If you want to argue about did better that time, find an Xbox fanboy to fight with. The Switch has a massive install base that is only being held back by it being literally sold out world-wide right now, even Amazon Europe ran out.

The Wii U was lumbered with one utterly terrible decision: the worst CPU you can imagine. It was a custom 3-core version of the Wii CPU, which itself was basically an upclocked Gamecube CPU.... it ended up with less compute power than most people's smartphones, and all it got in exchange was Wii compatibility. What it needed was a solid multicore ARM SoC (ironically, like the Switch) to go with its actually-very-good GPU. But without that CPU to back it up, developers couldn't hope to do anything fancy like texture compression, or constant disk-streaming with decompression on-the-fly... everything had to go into RAM, unless you were Nintendo and knew all the tricks. Bad move, Iwata-san. RIP. The Wii U games are actually amazing... Zelda HD, Mario and Sm4sh omg

How was the WiiU not good? It was good hardware that was almost portable with AAA titles. NSMBU, SM3DW, Smash, Nintendo Land, DKTropicalFreeze, Yoshis Wooly World, MARIO Kart, etc etc, plus LOADS of eshop/virtual console games. I mean I sat on the couch playing on the controller just like I do with the switch. There was nothing bad about the WiiU, it just didn't get the support it deserved. I love that thing.

If it was an x86 CPU, then it could run Crysis at 720p with low to med settings. The GPU has the grunt to do it.

The concept of gaming-on-the-go is what I've wanted for a long time, ever since I got my Vita. A couple friends and I were one of the first in line to preorder it and BotW, really hoping this pans out well for Nintendo.
This looks like the right compromise between portability and performance.

A lot of people are actually excited about the handheld feature. I'm personally skeptical about bringing my consoles anywhere outside in case something happens, but the fact that the Switch can immediately go from dock to handheld is pretty amazing. This is especially true if you ever want to play with friends through co-op outside of the home or on the go.
Caleb Hackett in my city there's a group that gathers once a month to play Nintendo games. its a pretty large gathering so I expect the Switch to be a hit here.
Forgetting about that nasty $600 price tag if you want the full experience.

What i am going to do is buy the fire emblem games mario maker zelda kirby and just wait until you cal buy a mario odysee bundle with a pro contrer for €300 bucks. Just wait until the price drop this year at black friday. I have more than enough game that i can buy for the 3ds and horizon zero dawn is comming for the ps4.

One thing we should all give Nintendo credit for is the fact they are still getting people to play together in the same invironment unlike a lot of modern gaming, no split screan hardly anymore and this is coming from a Ps4 and Pc user. Miss good old days of playing in the same room with my mate's and having a few beers.

Kaon Are you sure. Nintendo's previous consoles havent been up to par with current gen graphics. example would be call of duty black ops. game looked great on pc, xbox, and playstation but not on the wii.If they do have current gen games then the graphics would probably be downgraded

Botw is enough for me to get a day one purchase but for some people it isn't. If they had two popular games, maybe not huge ones like Slatoon or Mario, but if they had Zelda and Mario Kart, two big titles that people like, then they would have way more sales.

What I want to know is the joy-cons and the tablet screen have separate battery lives, so am I ever going to have to worry about playing portable and one of the joy-cons dying? or do they stay charged when attached to the screen?

i love the switch, everyone is always nagging to nintendo about graphics n stuff but you can't nagg about this. the screen is perfect for a handheld/home console and it's a good console to compete with the ps4 and the xbox one. the price is also very decent for what you get. the only thing that is holding me back from buying are the games. i think if they would have had more games at launch it would be a massive succes.
now its just a zelda/mario kart machine and that's unfortunate. but with good games coming it's alright. i'm in love with this console/handheld and will definetely buy it once i have enough money for it.

Pricing of online service. Why buy for a year when 6 months are always gonna be free?
Games: how many games are going to be made for this that are outside of Nintendo? Is say Bethesda.aids going to pollute the market? Are we going to get GTA on it? War games?
Availability of the cartridges: are they going to be WIDELY available like in a GameStop or only have a select few in stores and the rest online?
Lag: will it lag a lot or very little?
How this Xbox live ripoff is going to work: do you use your Wii character name? Or a gamer tag?

Mobility, accessibility and expandable memory.
Cons: only 5 launch titles and no Pokemon.

look it up, yes, you can charge the joy cons through the grip. on the treehouse live, i saw where you plug it in. it does charge it.
dude I bought one, having not played much since xbox360. it is a magic object built by wizards high in japanese mountains. and so far, it has fewer of the things that irritated me about my xbox - no discs that skip or scratch, no annoying avatars and complicated/upselling operating system (it's simple, easy), and I can take it with me to play with friends or in the park. I am stoked with it, just hope more games that interest me come out (I like strategy, simulators, and games that are a bit, how to put it, darker, adult, etc, than a lot of the nintendo ones)

I'd be interested to see if they put the old games on to cartridges too to buy. Hopefully those controls are a little bigger then they look. I'd hate to play with cramped hands all the time.

Zelda at 900p 30fps on the TV, really poor Nintendo. Docked should be at least 1080p 60fps.

James Nitrox most games on ps4 runs at 720p 30fps without high level shadows and details. so ps4 , even the pro is a shit tier gaming experience. if you want to play game on high def buy a fucking pc .

I have a super rig PC and a beast Acer Predator laptop.
But can't whip it out on the go like the Nintendo Switch can. I play Zelda at home, then continue playing while I'm on the plane travelling or when I'm commuting on the bus or train.

Weird, Nintendo show Bluetooth as an included specification when looking at the Switch's specifications webpage on the official US and UK Nintendo website, yet I'm unable to use this connection protocol for my wireless Bluetooth Headphones. I am primarily a Xbox gamer but decided to pick the switch up about a month ago. Mostly just for Zelda....about a thousand dollars in games/amiibo/accessories later and I am not regretting it one bit. Really hope this does well, it's def worth the purchase.

Is it gonna do well? Who cares, if you are a Nitendo fan, you will get it no matter what. If you are a PC, PS or Xbox fan, there's no way you are gonna switch. Some people owns multiple consoles or gaming platform ( I have gaming PC, PS4 and Wii U), but most people just focus on one platform. ( I mainly play games on PC, play PS4 only for their exclusives, and almost never touched the Wii U).
redpanda416 I have a PS4 pro, even though I rarely play it, I have a Xbox one S gears of war edition which I use mostly and I got the switch when it came out. if you're a gamer you'll get them all to experience them all and play all games
Uncle Grandpa vlogs Yeah a gaming PC perform better, but I do like some of the PS exclusives, like The Last of US, Uncharted series, God of War, Bloodborne etc, I also play fighting games on my PS4. Of course I have a big steam library too and I play most shooters on PC, it's just better played with a keyboard and mouse. Oh, and PS4 has a lot of Japanese games that will never get released on other platform.
