  • SpaceX’s first Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket launched the Bangabandhu Satellite-1 from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 11 May 2018, at 20:14 UTC (16:14 EDT). Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage landed on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. According to SpaceX, Falcon 9 Block 5 is “designed to be capable of 10 or more flights with very limited refurbishment”. Bangabandhu-1 is Bangladesh’s first geostationary communications satellite.

      Thats a beautiful idea, only no vessels are supposed to come near the barge. The footage itself is also not bad, but the connection between the barge and the mainland always goes down due to the tremors caused by the landing shamkng the antennas.

    • @MizaT11
      @MizaT11 Před 6 lety +7

      Thomas Wijgerse It's not transmitting to the mainland. The barge has antennas that are transmitting to a geostationary satellite; a tiny dot in the sky. Upon the rocket's decent, it gets shaken up substantially and loses it's hold until it has settled down once more. This sat serves as a relay back to the mainland.

    Compliments to the guys describing events on this cast. They seemed exceptionally well prepared to help viewers understand what is happening and why. This hasn't always been the case on SpaceX casts. SpaceX needs to understand and appreciate that viewers likely instantly recognize when the talking heads don't fully understand what they are talking about or cannot clearly put it in perspective.

    • @a.bergantini4129
      @a.bergantini4129 Před 6 lety +3

      The excess of speed is because of the geosynchronous orbit (30000+ km altitude), and it is not necessarily related to the mass of the payload.

    • @Turbo999be
      @Turbo999be Před 6 lety +11

      Alex Bergantini : I have to disagree on that, it's not the first time SpaceX launch a geosynchronous payload and the first stage never reached that speed before separation. I remember an >8000Km/h separation but it was a non recoverable first stage. Here we have 8133km/h seperation and still enough fuel to land back on the drone ship. For me this is the first evidence of the additional power the Block 5 was expected to have. This is very encouraging for the future, it's a total success once again.

    I like what they do, and I am a big fan of Tesla and Nikola Tesla also, but think the same about why can't, want, or fix the landing part to be live and visible and to make sure it is not cgi or fake etc. If you go back and check all the landings. You can find a live stream when they say it is live and the two boosters landed on the same colored dark x circle, with falcon heavy.
    But they said we know it looks like exactly the same, but the two side of the live stream video is coming from the left and the right side of the falcon heavy rockets so it is for sure not the same. Then, they did edit the live stream, and fixed that problem. When nobody can edit live stream. Because that is not live anymore...
    So it did not look like they landed on the same place. And if you check more video out. They say, we don't have wifi over the ocean, so the signal can go off. And 3 sec later it does. And one time they said they don't know what happened with the central part, when live at the background you could hear that we lost it. And they did freeze and said everything is ok. Haha. When the control room said they lost it. And at the end they say everything went fine just they planned. One day later they say no, they lost it. Lol. Or when they planned to have the first of this launch, they said that i think after the Falcon took it over, they have to cancel the launch. It stopped. But the stream went on for another 30 mins. And they did say maybe it can count down again. Or they wanna know why it happened.
    Lol. It doesn't matter, we were here to watch the launch not the whys. And then of course again like lot of time they show lose signal. Than comes back. Then lose again when it is on the drone ship. Haha. Good editing and good timing for the signal to cut the only interesting part out how it did land. And it is like before picture, and after when it is landed still. Yeah right. they have wifi and signal with 10.000 km/h but not with 500 km/h when landing. That is not true.
    And they can have wifi etc signal boosters, a ship, a guy with a satellite phone to live stream it like even facebook or youtube. Rent a drone, buy a drone etc for cheap. But with that budget they have they can't show that, what is the main reason? Like to be able to reuse these rockets.
    Joke again. If it would be good landings and clear landings they would be happy to show that live. Cuz it would give everybody the feeling it is worth the money. But they have enough problem with the cars. And late arrivals. Recalls. And not good quality. Crash etc.
    So they can't afford to show that they might fail. Or they still fail with landings. But the drone ship has capability to navigate etc. Have connection. But can't use GoPro cams etc. Or a cheap drone could fly close to that to take live feed from another boat. Etc... It doesn't matter cuz we do not see the main part. And will never see. Just a maybe late video. Or maybe green screened. And be happy about it. Believe it. And buy more stuck. Just cuz the company who need the money say so. Lol. That is a big trust.
    The only one who can lose is them. So go ahead, of course they cheer like they did it right. They don't wanna lose their job, and lose contract. Or get out of the business. Just because they can't land the parts right, what they promise always. Which is the only thing why everybody is interested in them. To be able to reuse that parts, and get cheaper because of that. But if that is failing, than the whole space x program fails. Because others like Russia can take up people and come back land etc. And not crash etc. Or take up a lot of payload to ISS etc.
    Ps: english is my second language, so please keep that in mind. Thx.

      its literally frozen nitrogen falling off, not a mouse (like flat earthers say). its ice. while yes the engine is burning hot not to far away the turbopumps (basically the engines guts) are super cold, the rocket is cryogenic (basically means they use cold fuels) u can see some vaporize when it falls off and gets near the engine (also to note that feed is the second stage of the rocket, falcon 9 is a two stage rocket, stage 1 is the rocket booster that lands after sending the second stage to orbit with the payload ontop the second stage. second stage after separating from the first stage heads to orbit (space and orbit are different) tldr orbit is spinning around earth from space so u dont fall back into earth. stage 1/first stage heads back to earth, does a reentry burn then a landing burn for landing on the ship or a landing pad (depends on mission profile) second stage doesnt land, its sends the payload to space, then it deorbits and then reenters earth atmosphere and burns up (after separating the payload as the payload stays in space, and the second stage is deorbited then burned up on reentry to prevent space trash)

    Why doesn’t the first stage need a heat shield like the Apollo capsules? What is the science behind the two ways of re-entering the atmosphere and why didn’t Apollo use larger rocket engines to slow down enough to preclude the need for a heat shield?

    • @odysseusrex5908
      @odysseusrex5908 Před 6 lety +1

      Well, it does have some degree of thermal protection, but the big difference is that this rocket is reentering the atmosphere from a much lower altitude at a much lower velocity, thus there is much less friction and less heat is generated.

      Or possibly, the drone ship is several meters out of position. There is no way to tell. " Very special relativity. "

    Đồng hồ hiển thị vận tốc tên lửa trên màn hình không đúng so với vận tốc báo trên màn hình.Vận tốc báo ở phút thứ 2 là 4644km/h nhưng khoảng cách lúc đó(ở phút thứ 2) là 37km.Như vậy thì 1 phút sẽ là 18.5km/phút,vậy thì vận tốc trong 1h là 1110km/h ở phút thứ 2.
