The relative gap has narrowed pretty fast in the past 20 years alone. South Africa was 7 times larger in 2000. It's now 3.5 times larger, with Ethiopia having the demographic dividend to push growth up.
While I except Ethiopia to have surpassed South Africa by 2100, the article's prediction is too over the top. It doesn't however mean that it will be as developed as South Africa

@@uchannel7892 that's not true it has a goo amount of resources just not a lot compared to others and plus while every other african country fell under European rule ethiopia modernized and was much more developed than the others so ethiopia should be #1 but I guess civil war and poor government have led to ethiopia becoming underdeveloped however ethiopia has a fast growing economy so we'll be fine
