    * Why we didn't add iPhones or smartphones to the comparison -- the prices of these phones exceed the $1,000 USD threshhold. But if you want to see a phone comparison, comment below!

Great comparison of these three very different camera's in a Vlogging environment. Each one having it's pros and cons. But the comparison should have included a smart phone. I know you mentioned the high price of smart phones, but many people already own a very capable smart phone camera, such as a late model iPhone. So not buying a dedicated camera just for Vlogging would actually save you money. And for only around $150 for a DJI OM 5 gimbal you get many of same software and hardware features you find on the Pocket 2.

Definitely want to see phone comparisons -- I'm searching for the best smartphone for shooting and editing video. I'm currently looking at the Xperia, iPhone, Samsung S21 and Note, and anything else -- maybe the Vivo? I want to be able to run and gun in daylight, low light, and night. Lately I'm experimenting with shooting from within Kinemaster Pro -- an editing app -- so I shoot and edit at the same time.

I've been using the DJI for capturing family moments and personal vlogging (just for sharing with friends and family) and I've always felt that it was my best kept secret. Just being able to store it in my pocket (literally) or in a bag has meant that I'm able to use it a lot. Also I think of it as a step up from shaky cellphone footage.

Love this comparison. Thinking about getting the DJI Pocket 2 simply because I don't want to look like a dork in public while vlogging. I have the ZV-E10 currently with the Rokinon 12mm F2 and I think it's as perfect as you can get to a vlogging setup right now. Just turn off active steady shot and run all the videos through catalyst browse and you will be blown away. The only issue is I'm super shy and it's super intimidating walking around with a big fat-ish camera :P

Vlogging with the Pocket 2 can also be a bit tricky as far as audio is concerned. I find that the sound from the wireless mic is a bit thin and not that pleasing or loud. It becomes much better when you plug in any kind of lav mic. You can plug a lav mic into the wireless mic, and then put the wireless unit in your pocket. That works very well.
Of course, you can also plug a lav mic or the Rode Wireless Go directly into the microphone jack of the Do-It-All Handle. But I discovered that when you do that, you have to unplug and then re-insert the microphone every single time you turn on the Pocket 2. Otherwise, the Pocket 2 won't register the mic. Even with a microphone plugged in, it will simply use the built-in mics. To get the Pocket 2 to recognize that there is a microphone plugged in, you have to unplug it and then plug it back in.
That isn't quite a dealbreaker for me, but it's close. I far prefer to use the Rode Wireless Go with the Pocket 2, but it's so problematic. I try to remember to unplug the Rode and plug it back in every time I turn on the Pocket 2, but I'll still forget, and the audio will be ruined. This has happened often enough that I simply can't use the Rode. And that is a problem because I would end up using multiple cameras in a day, and I'd like the audio to be consistent across all of them by using the same microphone. But with the Pocket 2, I can't do that.

Your selection of cameras for the vlogging comparison was spot on. Those are the ones I would pick. As for the the final winner, I have to agree with selecting the DJI Pocket as the overall winner in this bunch.
For my specific use case portability is very important. I don't want to be carrying a ton of equipment around with me. The lighter the better without having to sacrifice quality so I choose the Pocket also. However, that weatherproof GoPro is vital to have in inclement weather. Having both of them would cover the deficiencies of either camera and meet my requirements. I'd leave the DSLR at home for studio work unless I needed a macro shot, extreme distance shot or some other type of special shooting that required an interchangeable lens.
This was a very comprehensive and thorough comparison that will help people decide what's best for them. Thanks for the awesome video!!!
    Cheers 🥂/🍻

  • @EmeraldAudiovisual
    @EmeraldAudiovisual Před 2 lety +12

    Couple pointers:
Wide angle: you forgot to mention the max lens option, which gives you an even wider angle. The same for the DJI Pocket 2, you forgot the wide angle lens attachment in the Creators Combo and how that fares.
    Battery lifetime:
GoPro: if you use the MediaMod or something like the smallrig cage, then you can charge the GoPro from a battery bank on the go. Obviously it is not waterproof anymore at this point. The same goes for the DJI Pocket 2. You can always keep it plugged into a battery bank and exceed your battery lifetime drastically.
I can't comment on the Sony, as I've not had one in my hands and most likely never will.
At the end of the day, if you're looking for compact and quality, the DJI Pocket 2 is definately the best allrounder.

Gopro is perfect for POV shot, water sports and perfect for car mount camera..
but when we talk about vlogging, for me there is no other camera better than Dji Pocket 2.. for me the biggest strength for P2 was the audio.. u cant find any camera until 2021 tht hav wireless mic with build-in receiver.. just turn on the cam, turn on the mic, and u ready to go.. just imagine u can fit something into your pocket with a camera system + gimbal + audio system.. if want to produce 10 videos or more per month, for me mobility is the key..

I'm thinking of upgrading it to the HB 10 because the HB 10 may be able to quickly transfer video directly to the Note 9 via USB -- but I don't know if that works. I appreciate all the hard work you put into this video. I'm still using the gp8 black. Love it. For zooming I use Panasonic's cheapest handy cam. Love that too. It has great stabilization and it's super small. Cost $200. For low light I use various cameras like the zv-10 which is adequate.

I just ordered the last of the equipment that I needed for my livestream setup (atem min, streamdeck, new lighting, etc). I decided to go with the GoPro 10, myself. Currently I do all my recording off of my Galaxy s20+ phone and it's been great. Just decided that I'd like to quit doing that. The low light problems and mic aren't an issue for me, because I already use a rode wireless go with a lav mic anyways, and all my recording is in the kitchen where I can control the lighting. What I really liked about the gopro is that the Camera ($399) and the Media mod for it to add hdmi out and a mic interface ($79) makes the cost on it under 500 bucks for a camera that can record 5k/60, 4k 120, and HD/240 (??). As far as what I have seen, finding a 4k DSLR that will do higher than 30 fps is waay expensive, and I plan to use that slowmo feature a lot for advertising my merch... Seems like a great solution in my particular case, anyways...

For me, I like most the zv-e10 for a more cinematic videos. Next is the gopro for its more action capability especially when im doin’ a moto vlog. I hate the dji, with that built-in or fixed battery, it’s awful.

I agree 100% in your opinions of your excellently detailed comparison. Gopro on top imo, but dji on top in certain situations the gopro fails at. I think a combination of using both is the best way to go. The zv-e10 (or zv-1) imo is more of a planning/planned shooting camera than a run and gun. I may just have to pick myself up a pocket 2 based on this video. (Already have the GoPro lol)

I love this channel, but this video deserves a redo, especially with the GoPro 11 and the Pocket 3 coming out. SteadyShot is just one stabilization feature of the ZV-E10. The standout feature is the Gyro Data. The ZV records gyroscopic data you can use to stabilize your footage even further. Idk how you guys missed that but just FYI! Also, idk why all the footage from all of the forest walk throughs just look rough and jittery

I just now bought the Pocket2 Creative Combo....started to question that call because I'm an adventurist, but I need quality vlogging for the sitdowns I want to do - and to do so at night. Sound quality and night quality clips are important. Hopefully the P2 can handle the trekking/running bits I'll be doing in the mountains. Thanks!

I didn't even know that I wanted to watch this comparison (especially since I have already watched a ton of Pocket 2 comparisons) and this video was really good and very detailed! Many people don't talk about the battery life but you covered that too. I am quite excited for the Pocket 3 coming out later this year (possibly in the November) as they might just use the 1 inch sensor used in DJI Air 2s drone then it will be even better in low light and add a much requested feature - a bigger display. Cheers!

As a night owl, anything less than the pocket 2's low light quality is unacceptable. I can't simply not film past 7 pm lol.. Not surprised the Sony stabilization isn't good. It's hard to achieve on DSLRs, and it crops to do this. Some lenses might have it built in though... My zv1 is so shaky, and SO cropped to this tiny frame when stabilized. Gimbals are such a pain. So the p2 is great for stability while retaining wide shot with the analogue stabilization built in. I personally like the mic of the p2 sound better than the Sony also, which was louder, but seems a bit overly resonant and harsh in certain frequencies, and boomy low end. The p2 BUILT IN mic has a surprisingly flat, balanced frequency profile.. And the battery is built in, but you can shoot perpetually with a power bank. My handle has USB power built in so the p2 can shoot as long as you need. But it must be at 100%, otherwise if its actually charging while shooting it isn't good for the battery, but it can hold 100 no problem, apparently according to the devs. No problems here yet

There are areas you touched on where Sony is better. In the areas where DJI wasn't best, it wasn't far enough behind to make up for the ease of carrying. I could put that in my pocket if I needed it, and it's light. Thanks for this.

It was one of the best video comparison with my choice between go pro and DJI. I have seen many videos in comparison. In my opinion the DJI is best because of Long battery life, easy to use, best image stability, best night time use, the biggest screen access when connect to cell, Low cost. For blogging, DJI is best. As because, we don't always film by fixing in helmet or we don't film always under water. About the vide angle only thing is that we can use the filter in DJI. I am gona buy this device now. I am very much sure about it. Again thanks for your informative video. You got one subscriber. Blessings from ANDAMAN ISLANDS, 🇮🇳 India.
