- Jake is caught in the crossfire between his two friend groups and must now make a decision: stay in the club after the competition, or leave to keep his old friends happy. Will he dig himself deeper into the mess he's in, or will he be able to talk things out with both sides and keep his place in the club?
I wrote this ep a year ago... Honestly I would've rewritten a lot of it if I could, but uh hey, more drama to enjoy hopefully haha. Episode 10 is the finale, so get ready for more conflict~!

Notice how Sean stayed quiet while all the members were against Jake. Maybe he might understand the pressure of choosing sides because of his family. And his facial expression during the close ups of their faces. He did look disappointed in Jake, but in the slightest bit, his face showed empathy and understanding for Jake. MAYBE he might persuade the club to let Jake back in.
That could be a possibility. We can only hope so. As Sean himself said before. He's like the Big Brother of the Group. Let's see if Sean can get them to listen. But it's going to take a lot to get Zander to listen to Jake or even give him another chance.
It can be a possibility. But i know they will reunite in the next episode. True, sean was quiet the whole time but maybe he understands y he said those words. It will take a while, though for all of them to recover. He chose the wrong friends bruh but its also not his fault. He was lonely so i understand Jake. They just changed a lot and instead became more mean rn.

Honestly, you could be right. In episode 7 Sean said he knew how it's like to have family issues, so maybe Sean experienced something that is similar to what Jake was experiencing in this episode.
I noticed that too, maybe he's the first one to talk to Jake after the situation or the first one to forgive him
I feel like this hurt Zander so much, more than he lets on.
They started calling each other names, like Jake calling him a King of Grapes or something in that direction and just like some friendly banter without any tension. Zander took the longest to fully accept Jake into the club, although pretty much everyone (except maybe Hailey) accepted him right away while he took some time to get warmed up to the idea of Jake being in the music club. After finally trusting him to be in this sort of relaxed state around him and trusting him after having your suspicions about his motivs it must've really hurt to be proven right after all: that he is a jerk. (Now ofcourse that isn't true, as Jake didn't get the change to explain himself.) And not only that, but he also saw Hailey grow closer to Jake over time. And as we know he's very protective towards her. He did think they were gonna announce that they were dating so it meant he fully realized that they grew very close in the time they were friends. So mixed with his own hurt and his sympathy for Hailey that she was so heartbroken (Jake pulled her out of her shell and they were gonna perform a duet together even though she has terrible stage fright, and then hearing him say such terrible things about the club who grew to be her family, INCLUDING Jake must've been terrible for her. It was never confirmed if she had feelings for Jake but it's also very clear she's very fond of him) must've been so much for Zander.
I just thought of this and I feel like it's something that's a little overlooked, or I just haven't seen people talk about it this much. I hope this makes sense and I'd love to hear other people's thoughts about this :)

honestly music freaks is really good. finding a group of friends after having a lot of anxiety from past bullying experiences, only to find out their as bad as the other bullies really sucks. you want to confront them, but their also your friends. so your just forced to sit and watch and go along with it. this is very realistic for a lot of peoples experiences, including mine.
This is an example of mental health issues.. Jake has to choose between his passion, and people who he has been with from the beginning and the fact he cant he decide and everyone is hating him for it hurts and this is hard to watch.. Now that I’m older an rewatching this he is so peer pressured by everyone.. This team is actually amazing for noticing peer pressure and etc. 🫶🏼
Jake deserves better. He offered to give his laptop to Sean. He helped Milly and basically made Lander come true. At the mall, he ditched his homies for the club. He wants to please everyone but he can’t. Please let our boy have a good ending 😭❤️

jake is probably one of the most complex and relatable characters ever made. the people he surrounds himself with are both good AND bad for his sake. Drew and his crew are manipulating him while the music club doesn’t know if they could put they’re full trust in him. jake doesnt have a place where he could just be. with the music club he was himself and happy, but drew and his friends couldn’t seem to understand that.

This wasn’t Jake’s fault. The Music Club and the Jomies both put a major amount of pressure on Jake to choose a side. They really only cared about how it would affect them and not Jake. The Club saw that if Jake was no longer friends with Drew and the gang that they would be mostly free of Drew’s constant harassment and would be able to dedicate more focus to the Competition. The Jomies saw that if Jake stuck with them, they wouldn’t have to worry about him suddenly switching sides or becoming “a music freak” and ditching them. Neither doesn’t realize how this is affecting Jake, and the amount of pressure and stress he feels building on him self. Jake has never been good at interfering, because of how alone and bullied he was growing up. Too me, someone needs to check in on Jake, and both sides owe him a major apology. Jake was stuck in the middle and wasn’t able to get out of it, and though both sides thought he could be just stop it all and create peace, they didn’t realize how damaging that would be for Jake. Jake is wrongly in the middle and someone (The Music Club) needs to help him get out of it.

EXACTLY! Honestly, I think Sean is the most likely to check in on Jake, I don't really know why. I just hope that he gets an apology. Maybe something terrible could happen to Jake, causing the music club and the The Jomies to have to confront their true feelings about Jake.
I mean you can’t have your cake and eat it too. He brought himself into the middle wanna be friends with both opposite sides. He should’ve just either kept sticking to the toxic side or should’ve left ages ago putting his foot down when he knew how bad they were (but didn’t because he wanted the benefits of both social relations). Being friends with your friends’ enemies isn’t sincere. If you’re gonna excuse Jake’s actions because of his past then you can extend that to multiple people.

It's clear that Drew cares about Jake, but he's manipulating him in order to keep him close. The rest of his friends aren't any better since they're gaslighting him, convincing him that he's being used when he's in fact NOT. Jake's incapability to stand up for himself is understandable since he never really had any friends while growing up, and Drew was the first one that made him feel like he belonged, even if he had to keep his passion for singing a secret. Hailey and the others are the first people that make Jake feel that being himself is okay, and that feeling is new to him, since not even Drew could make him feel that.
I wonder when will Jake finally snap at Drew. After what happend in the ending in this episode I think he'll do it soon, and I'm really excited to see Drew's reaction, and whetever he'll become a better friend or push Jake away.
YES!! I think Drew cares about Jake as well, but he's so used to getting what he wants (cause his rich) that he thinks he can also manipulate people into his life. I hope he learns his lesson soon and understands that in order to keep Jake around he has to actually let him be himself and not bully people nor manipulate them.

Something I don't think a lot of people realize, is that people can have attachment issues. Which is why it's be so hard for Jake to leave the Jomies. They were the people who were there for him when he was completely alone in the beginning of high school. I'm pretty sure he knew what they were doing was bad, but because they were the only people he had, he excused it and even started picking it up. Which is why when he started to actually feel like the music club was his family, his friendship with the Jomies was well already grown too deep into his head. Which caused him a major amount of pressure
It's not only Jake's fault guys, sure he was already told about the red flags but the relationship was already too developed for him to leave. Sure you can be mad at Jake for being oblivious and dumb, but you also need to understand why this all happened in the first place. Both sides pressured him into leaving the other group, and in the end he said something not so great in the heat of the moment because of all the stress
Now that I've said that, I think everyone can agree that Sean will be the medium here. When they showed all their faces near the end of the song, he didn't just look disappointed but I feel he's empathetic towards Jake since he most definitely knows how the pressure and stress of having to pick a side can be due to his parents

Also, Drew gave Jake a lot of expensive items and Jake probably thought he owed it to him. He probably stayed and didn’t want to be thought badly of by the Jomies because they were there for him while he was bullied.

I love how characters like Liam and Henry are portrayed as mean “bullies” at times but also have moments that show them in a good light because they’re human. Usually stories don’t do that I’d assume because they don’t want the viewers to sympathize with antagonists but idk I feel like this makes them so much more real and less one-dimensional (and they’re not exactly antagonists either.) Just shows that they don’t really mean to be that way

I comment every three months. Rosy animates on 1's instead of 2's, which is interesting. No wonder these episodes made so long to make. The animation is really smooth. You don't really notice at first, but literally everytime a character talks there is like 5 different parts moving, which is a lot for 1(or 2) animators. And if not the subtle movements, the subtle details that I keep finding even after 2 years 😭 In conclusion, Rosy is awesome.
I feel so bad for Jake, Hailey should've never told him to pick between his friends, the music club won't even listen to him, and if they don't want to it means they didn't trust him that much anyway. On the other side, I thought Drew was actually getting better (correcting himself by saying "music club" instead of freaks) but they're so toxic right now, manipulating him and all... The worse is filming him and send it to Hailey knowing how it will affect Jake.... I hope they both realize their mistakes and try to fix it and I kinda wish Jake would give all of them the cold shoulder for a few days, not accepting the apologie right away would feel more fair. I HOPE EVERYTHING GETS BETTER FOR JAKE T^T
I honestly CAN understand how the music club feels and I wouldn't blame them-
Like sure, they didn't listen to Jake trying to explain himself, which was infuriating, but they need time after hearing the audio (also F Zoey, I'm pretty sure she's the one who recorded him and sent it to the club because I don't see Drew, Henry, Liam or even Lia do this to Jake imo), because as Milly said "I thought you were a friend," it's hard for everyone in the music club and I'm pretty sure someone will realize that they should've let Jake explain himself and all (I *hope* at least...)
It's definitely Zoe, can we please agree that Zoe is only one of the Jomies to not deserve any sort of redemption whatever
Honestly Jake needs to think out of the box. He should choose the music club because they treated him better and he isn't a bully but it's just drew and his friends manipulating him to do all of this. This situation is not easy because this situation is a moral dilemma and he chose the wrong one which is unlucky for him.

Oh my God, this was hard to watch. Seeing Jake being peer pressured and forced to pick a side between people that he genuinely loves, manipulated and misunderstood nonetheless. Rosy made us feel the uncomfortable and anxious feeling, the empathy we have for the main character, and the ability to put the viewers into Jake's shoes is an outstanding move! Watching the music club turn their back against him, really hits hard. Can't wait for the next episode! you've come so far , this has been a wonderful joy to watch , and seeing it grow so much was and still is awesome! Props to the whole team ❤

you know what's the cherry on top of Jake's situation? His old friend group is popular, they have almost complete control over the drama and how people look at others. So if he was to choose the 'music freaks' he would turn into a social outcast and will be transported to the bottom of the barrel.

I get that jakes friends were bullying the music club, but setting things up as “you must pick one” was awful of Hailey to do. Demand they stop bullying yes, but pick one? He could’ve definitely balanced both, and making him pick just put him under so much pressure. Poor Jake was being pulled and pressured from both sides and the one time he fell over the edge all of his friends turned on him. The only thing Jake did wrong was give in to a moment of weakness. If Hailey hadn’t told him to pick one, Jake wouldn’t have felt like he was picking sides and he wouldn’t have said any of that. Rant over. Justice for Jake.

The last part hit hard. I must say that the music group was too shocked and terrified to give Jake another chance and I could see that nobody in the group could keep calm except for Sean. The ending also shows how much Hailey and the others trusted Jake. It PROVES that Hailey actually had feelings for Jake. But out of all that I'm quite curious to know what Jake would do to get back in the musical club and to gain their trust back.
The whole episode was just an emotional rolercoaster and I can see Hailey having feelings for Jake like you said

Zoey recorded him, you can see her phone pointed to him in her pocket during the scene. They clearly plotted it. The group all made plans of what they were going to say to manipulate Jake's mind. Zoey pressed the record button at just the right time and sent it to Hailey. Their plan would make sure that Jake kept hanging out with them, and if he chose to not be friends with them anymore, then he would have no friends. So that they would win either way. Very clever, Drew and Zoey.

Honestly I really hope there is an episode where Jake snaps or has a full scale break down. The amount of pressure on him is unbearable. Like others in the comment section have said, they seem to just care about their own benefits and not Jake. Maybe him having enough will show to all how much they messed up. Yes Jake screwed up but the club needs to realize that he is in a very low state of mind.

Jake and his other friends *constantly* bullied The Music Club, which of course bothers them.
Would you really like your best friend who you see as a family be a close friend with someone who bullied you?
Jake's perspective is that he wants to be cool with everyone, but that's really impossible on this cruel world.
You gotta understand both perspectives.
Hailey and others aren't the one to blame, just as y'all forgive Jake for letting his anger control him and say such cruel things, you gotta understand Hailey's and others sadness control them.
Hailey even apologized for telling Jake to decide, even though she had right to.
Imagine if you heard someone say such cruel things to you, someone you think is close to you, you wouldn't really stay calm.
Now, Jake was literally bullied by people with same personality traits as his "friends", which not helped, and his "friends" manipulated him to make a choice by saying things that could be logical if The Music Club weren't his true friends, but they are, which made him say such harsh things.
They Manipulated him into thinking such bad things, but look closely, just as The Music Club didn't listen to him when they heard that stupid record, he didn't even bother asking them when his "friends" told him what they want him to believe about them.
Overall, Drew is not his friend. He did couple of things that seem good, but that's what manipulative people do: make you think they're a good person.

im rewatching this for the 10th time and do yall realize how daisy looks stressed at 10:04, when her mom calls her?
I get that what his friends did was bad, but through their eyes, they see as Jake joining the competition JUST for Daisy, they dont know he likes to sing. So when they hear how Daisy is dating , plus their already hate for the music club, they deem Jake being in the club as not nesesarry, and since Jake keeps reminding them that "its just for Daisy" , "yeah after the competition is done im out" and him always agreeing that they are "freaks" they think theire doing a favour to Jake, since Daisy clearly isnt interested. Obviously, they do wanna cause some coleteral damage, since they dont like the club, so they use such a distructive method, and they didnt know Jake actually likes singing. Also, Jake hasnt been hanging out with them at all, and they see it as thr music club taking him away from them-another reason to hate them. AND also when they heard hes also doing it for Hailey and singing with her, is more annoying since, again, they hate the music club, which Hailey is a part of.
In conlusion, they did not do a good thing, no no no, but since they already were bullying them, and already hating them, destroying them didnt seem too much, and since they saw it as Jake ONLY doing it for Daisy, they couldnt have known. Also, lets not forget, although they did provoke him, Jake DID say all those things, making them even more sure that he still doesnt like them and Hailey . Therefore, none of this is to blame, exept for misscomunication from Jakes part ( misscomunication from him to the homies).

I agree with you but I wanted to clarify some things :
Zoey is the one who recorded the conversation (since she pretty could do that, moreover her phone was in her pocket if you pay attention) so yeah, Drew and the others did provoke Jake but it’s not their fault if a drama is created. It’s Zoey’s fault.
I actually kind of understand Drew’s action, he just wants to be with Jake and seeing him being close with other person made him jealous. I don’t think Drew is that bad since he defended Jake when his bully talked to him. For now, I’ll talk about theory but I think if Drew bully the music club is because of his father (pressure ?). His father seems to be that rich guy who wants everything to be perfect and I’ll be not surprised if he pressure a lot Drew. Ngl, Drew is really underrated, the only reason why I don’t like him this much is because of the bullying.

I feel mostly bad for them, but I feel more worried for Jake. I say this now and rightfully. That this is a sign of manipulation, his friends are tricking him to saying that its not even worth it anymore due to daisy being with sean. If he actually thought of them as friends, this wouldn't have happened. Even if his friends at first in highschool thought of him as a friend there's still a chance of manipulation here. Jake is one of the best characters with the best emotion to his voice, the voice actor must be really putting in alot of just mixes of emotions. But for the music club I just really feel like they shouldn't be called "Music Freaks" I feel like alot of people love music and even adore to play instruments and play them. Mostly I see drew as abit of a mid character. Its just saddening to see this as the ending for episode 9. They now see him as traitor, and even a back stabber. Hopefully both groups try to reconcile for Jake's sake. In a way both sides are responsible for Jake's outburst (Drew's group basically peer pressured Jake to say those things anyway).
I think if both groups knew what happened to Jake in the past maybe they could try to be decent to each other. Also random thought, I like how the music club are being bullied while people who watch anime or read manga, etc are not. I remember a time (makes me sound old lol), where people who watch anime like me would be made fun of or just bullied for liking something different.

I personally think he should be with Drew's group, not for any bad reasons, but like they became friends with him despite knowing that he was considered a "weirdo" by almost everyone is middle school. There must be a reason they don't like the music club, if they accepted Jake but not them. Either way bullying isn't a good way to do that, and what they did to Jake isn't right either, but thanks to this situation we can really see if the music genuinely like Jake or were only laughing with him in order for him to use his talent of singing. Like Jake accepted all of them, despite their flaws, but him saying things because he wasn't in the right mindset, got this guy kicked out in split seconds. And it seemed that Zander probs never even liked Jake from the start if he's now saying "that he was right" about Jake being a "bad person". For the fact they didn't even think twice that this could be Drew's doing, really goes to show how much they actually trusted Jake, if they trusted him they would have atleast been like " Jake would never say that" but nope, they shouted at him and even slapped him in the face and kicked him out. Jake isn't perfect aswell, he's gonna have some flaws too, or did they just assume since he helped them with their flaws he wouldn't have any, which is where the whole "Hailey is using you to get over her stage fright" comes to show, they only laughed and smiled with Jake because they knew he was a good singer, but before they knew that, they didn't like him one bit. But in Drew's case, he liked Jake for him, even though he was bullied, he still accepted Jake and genuinely seemed happy hanging out with him, and got jelous that he's now hanging out with people who didn't even like him in the first place.
I'm not saying what Drew did was right, but like this really comes to show how much the music club actually liked Jake.

Though i agree with some stuff that you wrote they most definitely have a right to be extremely upset because before Jake actually joined the group he already made fun of them and looked down on them. Like it’s kinda hard to trust someone who has made your life a living nightmare. I don’t think that there is a solid reason for drew and his friends hating on the music club so much besides them being different than them. They also have video evidence of jake saying all that 🤷♀️ they definitely need context but it’s hard to argue when you are watching someone say awful things about you and your friends.

It’s easy for you and others to say how they should’ve listened or “why didn’t they listen” because were the viewers and we know what happened. In that situation however, with no context, I’d be pretty fuming and hurt over the fact he said all that.

Rosy really captured the essence of school. Some people are “freaks” and others you would defend with your life. Everyone’s so mean even though everyone feels bad. Love the series Rosy!
She really has, that's why I love this series is because she made it with real situations. As someone who had friend groups that didn't get along and were toxic and made me choose between them, I can relate to Jake because of that. Some of the episodes she made hit close to home.

I’m rewatching this and the worst part of all this is that everything Jake said is true, Hailey can’t sing without her stage fright, they would go down the drain without their main vocalist, and they really do get a lot from him but gives nothing in return… so what if he only wanted to sing for Daisy? He stayed for them. Because he thought they were friends. And Hailey can’t force Jake to love her… They really should be grateful, he pulled the whole damn club up to this point.
