BE FINALLY FREE! | The 7 Documents you need to drive your car in Nigeria, Cost and Where to get it

- To be free while driving in Nigeria, you need 7 documents for your car after registering your car and getting the particulars. These 7 documents are what would be checked whenever you encounter the Federal Road Safety Officials (FRSC), VIO, Police and other road law enforcement agencies that vary across every state in Nigeria.
Please feel free to tell us how much you did yours and also your experiences when you have been stopped and just generally contribute to this to make someone else's life easier.
Your Nigerian Driver's License is not enough to get you running on the road.
We noticed that the standard prices for obtaining these documents that we see on Government owned websites are false, they have been changed a long time ago but not effected on the website thereby misleading Nigerian motorists.

A much needed video
Wow! Fisayo Fosudo don't even know all this things 😊😊. FF I am not trolling you man just excited to see you watch 234Drive channel. Much love.
@@christophergodspower7987 haha. I know all this. I’m glad someone is putting the information out there in good quality. Police don show me pepper too. 😂😂
Road worthiness is the most useless paper in Nigeria because the roads are not even car worthy.
1.license
2.proof of ownership
3. insurance document
4.road worthiness certificate
5.vehicle license
6.optional(hackney permit )
7.tinted glass permit.(government says it’s not compulsory but some police officers still ask for it).
Road worthiness for commercial vehicles expires every 6 months!
All police ask tinted permit
What about police clearance and CMR ?
As regards the tinted permit, let me add that it's not available for factory tinted cars. You need the permit for cars that you tint here locally and however the permit has been suspended for now.
Note that if you have your car after the suspension of the permit, at every official check point, you roll down all your windows. This assures the Officials of their safety and yours. Thanks.
You also need to make sure that your tyres are not expired, many people don't really know this, but the FRSC is very much against it.
Please always remember to do a recap of your content before you end the video.
Very important idea too
Absolutely loved this video. The team at 234Drive is dropping 🔥 content these days

You’re doing well man 👍
Thank you for this insightful video!🙏🏽
I didn't know I needed a channel like this till you made one. Thanks a lot
In as much as this is a very good content and I love the energy you put into this. But when I remember how damfo, okada, Keke and the rest drive like mad people with expired and incomplete papers and yet road officials don’t bother checking on them. All they are after are private car owners so they can extort them. You can have all your papers intact and when they can’t pin anything on you they will hold your papers and delay you unreasonably until you drop something.
Omo bros, you no lie at all 👏
Na why e good to get multiple copies in your car, that’s what I do, I just photocopy like 5 for each and then tender to an officer if he wants to delay me I just zoom off.
You’re good bro
There are so many people who have acquired knowledge to navigate everything that is involved in having a car in Nigeria. But no one I know has committed to having a dedicated CZcams channel talking about these things.
Much respect for doing so
Excellent presentation and well articulated.
Highly informative!

Some brand new vehicles don't come with spare tyre from the manufacturer. No Jack, no spanner. E.g. F01 BMW and so on
Love you bro ❤️. Can you do a review on toyota avalon 2014?

You didn't mention the validity period of the Hackney permit and tinted glass permit
Hackney is a yearly thing. Tint permit...I don't know of but I think it should be for life. I never needed the permit.

Abeg do review on Toyota Avalon 2013/14
Please can you do a review on Honda pilot 2012 I want to know if it has shaft issues
Fabulous well thought out content and insight into Nigerian motoring.
Want to ask a question ❓ Planning a weekend fun ( not wild) road trip from Lagos to Accra, with my own car. When I come to Nigeria later this month.
What documentation will be needed and from my estimation should not take more than 8/9 hours.
One other thing I have a UK driver's license.
Many thanks
Please can you review the Hyundai sonata limited 2013 modern and price please 🙏
Great video. But i was waiting to hear custom duty.. that can make you lose your car
Can you do a review on Toyota Avalon
Got harassed today, because I had tinted glass in an Easter state(Anambra) even as the medical report and the tinted glass permit was made available ..Trying to claim my right they told me that the law doesn't apply everywhere...Eastern states esp🤦🏽♂️
Choi!
Tinted glass is banned in Anambra state. Because of unknown gun men..
they did same to me.
I had to pay even though I had everything complete
@@ugochukwuonyeriri4763 I just got to learn about that today, they said it's for security reasons ....I thought same law applies everywhere🤷🏽♂️
Please Can you do a video on acura cars?
Just 3 documents required in the UK to legally drive your car.
1 - V5C Document - registers your vehicle with the DVLA (Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency). This document proves that you own the car.
2 - Insurance - Third party etc or Comprehensive. You can pay monthly or annually.
3 - Drivers License - Learner means you can drive a car but a person with a full license must accompany you in the vehicle. Otherwise you'll need a full driver's license to drive unsupervised.
NB -;MOT (Ministry of Transport) check is carried out once a year on cars over 3 years old. This checks vehicle safety, roadworthiness, and exhaust emissions. Once your car passes MOT the LICENSED MECHANIC issues your certificate.
Thanks for the video very informative 👍. But one thing I think you forgot to mention is just have extra cash at hand for the very stubborn officers alot of them are just there to make money of the citizens so the earlier you speak their language the better.
Can you do a review on the mazda 6?
Nice video my guy. But are these requirements also applicable to Agbegi-lodo (Nigerian Lumber trucks)?
Thank you sir for this enlightenment. Please, why is the absence of an extra tyre an offense? Is there any harm or discomfort attached to this that is not also attached to you running out of fuel on the road? If it is an offense for vehicles then y is it not for motorcycles? Yes I can relate with the use of bad or worn-out tyres. Thanks
Very nice. Good info. But what if you are a visitor, is it legal or acceptable to drive with your foreign driving license?
You are doing a good job. But please if there is a way to get this across to Nigerians who may have to pass through Edo State, please tell them that EDO STATE police will ask them for "INFORMATION REQUIRED" document or some of them stupidly call it CMR. This is for vehicles registered in Lagos most time. If you have all documents in this video and Information Required as they call it, you are 100% good to to in Edo State. They will stop you but let you go
I made a list of all these items and ticked them off one by one. I don't want wahala with all these people on our roads
Nice one crank, what about us that drive with government plates 🤣🤣😉. We no need am 😎
You are the big boys of Nigeria
Please my brother can you make a video on fuel consumption of cars in Nigeria 🤝
Thank you for this video. It was quite helpful for my curious learners in Greenhive School, Lekki.
Glad to hear that! you are welcome
You forgot to add something
You need to make sure that your tires are not expired, every tire has an expiry date, be up to date with your tires so that they don't put in trouble. Thanks
Just roll ur windows down wen u approach a check point. That way nobody sees a tint
I’m sure you haven’t heard of “Police Clearance”. You should check it out.
What about ECMR? Or allocation of Number
Still waiting for the Toyota Avalon review.
Road worthiness errrm last I checked when I was in nigeria the amount of car that was not road worthy
💯🔥
Opooor
Nice one bro! Just following your videos. My question is about road worthiness permit: Does Nigerian road even worthy of our cars? Bad roads everywhere damaging car suspension, arms, bushing, shock absorber etc.
Lol... VIO don't give a damn about those things.. just make sure they don't catch you
oga frank... there's a last one oooo..... its actually a joker for the police....... they will ask for allocation of plate number.... no leave am for house oooo
I see you drive a Mazda can we do upgrade on Mazda in Nigeria ?
Abuja FRSC will require you to have a razor blade for emergency release situations.
Also, not only that you should have a spare tyre, but all 4 plus spare must not be expired tyres... yes tyres have expiration date written on them by the manufacturers.
Razor Blade?
@@234drive Some brand new vehicles don't come with spare tyre from the manufacturer. No Jack, no spanner. E.g. F01 BMW and so on
How about custom papers.....
This was absolutely enlightening and interesting to watch but please I have a question, if someone buys a registered car (Nigerian used), how do you go about the proof of ownership? Do I still say the car belongs to the previous owner?
No. It is expected that the co-signed change of ownership document the owner did for you at the car registration shop, c/o the Licensing office, authorises the officer to go ahead and re-register the vehicle for you. This means that the old number plate & ownership will be revoked and a new one issued in your name with the authority of FRSC also.
It costs btw 2-5k for change of ownership and then 50-65k for new registration. So calculate this along with the amount you plan to spend on the car.
How and where does one get the Hackney permit from?
I see this channel becoming like carwow CZcams channel soon. Just a matter of time
Throttlehouse please
The only documents u need is 200 hundred naira changes and they like it ment 😋
😂
My guy you too much.🤣🤣
