      I just played this game. And personally I strongly dislike it. Too many unnecessary rules which isn't all that clear. It has combat but it's very constrained. Rules easy to be break to get victory points like casting spells which strangely gives you victory points. Basically just control your continent and never leave and collect resources and cast spells to win.

      Hey Scott - it was the rules around moving from one sea region to another sea region on the opposite side of the board. Basically, from a corner, you can move to the other two corners on either side of it, but not to the diagonal one.

    • @ToxDrawace
      @ToxDrawace Před 6 lety +1

      Ah, okay! Thanks for the response!
      I actually remember thinking that was an interesting choice considering that the real world is typically portrayed in such a way that crossing horizontally loops you around, but the diagonal seemed reasonable from a gameplay perspective. Obviously, for symmetry on a game board, allowing for travel to both horizontally and vertically opposite sides, as opposed to just horizontal as a typical map, is necessary. The diagonal method keeps that symmetry too.
      Relatedly, the world of Heroes of Land, Air & Sea is apparently a donut shape (a Torus, in math terms) with the mapping as stated. Here's an image that might help with visualizing it: www.learner.org/courses/mathilluminated/images/units/4/1615.png

    Looks fun, very Warcraft. From this video, it looks like the board may become very crowded. The regions are small and all of the units/vehicles/structures seem to take up a lot of space. And that is just for one player's components! Do you find this to be an issue during game play?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  Před 6 lety +1

      It helps that you can't have more than 5 units per space, unless it's a fight, and in those cases, it's just a short period of time that you have the space crowded.

    Hi Rodney - I have a mild form of ADD. I know this may sound silly to some, but I (and a few others who have it that I have spoken to) have problems with the way your videos seem to be edited.
    You appear (and I may be wrong) to cut out the natural pause that you would find at the end of a paragraph - where you finish one idea / rule / mechanic, and move onto the next. This causes us to have no time to digest the idea, before you have moved onto the next one.
    In normal speech that pause, albeit small, is enough for our brains to sort the new idea into a box / category, (filled away in a memory area), and prepare us for "ready to learn next idea" mode. When you remove the pause, our brains are still working out what to do with the idea as you are midway through the next sentence.
    Your videos, brilliant though they are, could sometimes be compared (for me and others like me) to a "wall of text" and its very hard for some of us (and it is I presume a very small number) to digest what you are saying.
    It could be argued that I could try and pause the video of course, but I often am sitting with the game in front of me, and the TV or laptop behind it out of easy reach. By the time I have lent over to hit pause that distraction has made me forget what I was trying to learn :)
    Please don't take this as a criticism - I do enjoy your very helpful videos - but if you could leave a few seconds more before paragraphs this would help me, and others like me, to get even more out of them.
    Thank you for your time spent making the videos
    Regards

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  Před 6 lety +2

      I really appreciate that you brought this up. I think that the longer both Pep and I work on editing the videos, the more we become accustomed to hearing it at an increasingly faster pace. Looking back at older videos, I can definitely tell the speed at which I talk and the pauses between points have sped up significantly.
      Despite trying to find the right pace, we sometimes do clip a bit closer than necessary - we’ll try to add some micro adjustments to the spacing moving forward. Thank you for the comment!

    A quick question about the conscripts combat card. It has an * as a combat strength. Does that simply mean that you'll gain a variable combat strength because you move more units into the battle? Or does the card itself provide 1 strength per unit you move (and pay food for)?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  Před 6 lety

      You get the strength of the units you moved in, plus 1 victory point per unit moved in.

    • @eirikjohnsbraten6370
      @eirikjohnsbraten6370 Před 6 lety

      So the card itself does not add strength? It just feels counterinuitive that they put an asterisk on the shield in addition to the food cost...

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  Před 6 lety

      I can understand the confusion, but the explanation for the asterix at the bottom really is just for the victory points. The asterix at the top just represents tat you're gaining an unknown amount of strength based on how many and which units you move in. I've confirmed this with the publisher.
