BTW, I love Advent and Advent X. Thanks for providing a quality component and a reasonable price 👍🤘✌️
You bet!
It's been 2 years since I've installed my first AdventX derailleur. It's been through three pulley wheels replaced, I've smoked it innumerable times on the rocks and trees. Despite all of that, it was still able to shift. Now I plan to disassemble it and see if I could squeeze a little bit more life out of it.
Great product!
I suspect most riders that have a sticky clutch just need to adjust the tension. My clutch was sticking so removed the cover, completly backed off the tension then retightened. Been working great since.
For people having a sticky clutch, i had it too on my advent x, but before disassembling the whole derailleur try blasting the clutch with wd40 and then leaving it to dry. It solved it for me
I disassemble the clutch system and it was dead easy. Very simple engineering here. And if you look at their manuals you hardly can make any mistake. Just try not to lose the springs because they are very small
woo yeah baby! that's what I've been waiting for, that's what it's all about
LOVE my bulletproof, affordable as f*** Advent 9-speed! Shifts flawlessly but the clutch has started to feel a little sticky when testing it by hand. Thank you so much for posting this video!
The clutch should feel slightly sticky - it takes a bit of force to overcome the initial friction caused by the friction washer inside.
Very helpful, thank you!
I thought I just watched this vid the other day. In any case it’s crazy you guys reposted this vid because my Advent 9 cage just bent on me this morning and now I gotta take it to the shop!
It was a music change. lol. I hope the bend was not too bad.
@@microSHIFTTECH too bent. Don’t know how it happened. Took the wheel off to clean cassette before replacing chain, put everything together and there was serious rubbing on the lil tab inside. Used this video as reference to take the derailleur apart and straighten but no go. Currently waiting for LBS to open so I can get an Advent X cuz that’s all they got in stock
@@microSHIFTTECH checked and triple checked chain routing just to make sure I’m not crazy
Love the background music, this is like watching bike repair porn ;-)
Whats stopping someone from taking the cover off and cleaning the clutch with IPA whilst its still installed? Your video doesn't really seem to show much in the way of cleaning.
Is it possible to replace both left and right pulleys? I bent mine. But have since bent it back straight and it still works a treat.
Any recommendations for aftermarket jockey wheels (10 speed derailleur; 12 and 14 tooth wheels maybe)? I absolutely love your whole drivetrain, and I've ridden it really hard. The teeth are starting to wear down a bit after a year and a half.
Please acolyte maintenance video too!
I have an advent x there are times when when you change the sprocket it stays stuck and the chain stays loose, because it will be.
Question: maintaining those pulley wheels? (Just got done cleaning and lubing them with SuperLube grease.)
Best thing to do is just keep em clean!
Any advice when it is a good time to do this? Is there any specific malfunctioning that indicates it might be a good time to clean the Clutch?
And is this like once in a season thing or more often? ( surely it depends on a lot how much and how you ride...)
All clutch cleaning and maintenance is sort of an "as necessary" thing. If your clutch stops working, you can certainly replace it with the instructions here, or you can also just fill out a warranty claim if you bought it less than 4 years ago.
Is it safe to use paint thinner/mineral spirits to clean it instead of IPA?
We suggest sticking with rubbing alcohol or a light degreaser. If you try it, the key will be to wipe off all excess so you do not contaminate the friction washers. Thank you!
Good day. I was hoping if you have a manual for clutch maintenance of Acolyte?
The SpringLock system uses extra spring tension to keep the chain on. As such, it doesn't need lubrication or any regular servicing.
Hi, is there any part that needs lubrication? I find that de-tensioning the clutch so it doesn't stick, results in zero effect when engaged. thks.
The clutch is supposed to slow down the motion of the cage. It sounds like you should be running a higher tension on your clutch. I'm not sure what you mean by sticking, but it should be hard to push.
@@microSHIFTTECH by stick I mean that it doesn't return backwards as I shift to a smaller cog. This results in an overly slack chain that falls off
will this fix my advent x not tensioning as long as the clutch is activated?
Yes, it should help. If you continue to have problems after you've serviced it, please reach out to our customer service team via our website.
That's the reason that my derraileur is sticky? It happened after rain caught me on the road
Could be a lot of things, I'd recommend reaching out to customer service via our website.
@@microSHIFTTECH Some wd 40 worked for me it was just muddy.because before the rain i was in the forest. Thank's for helping me
What happens if you disassemble the assembly?
We recommend not to disassemble the ratchet and pawl clutch assembly because it is tricky reassemble.
But what if I don't have a shirt that ugly ? Can I still maintenance my clutch 🤔🤷😁
It may be tough but we have full confidence that you will pull through.
