  • Thanks for watching, this is a slow paced ride around downtown Austin, taking in some of the sights. It was a cold morning starting in the 30s but was up to 71° by the end of the day. Glad to
Be in a place where’s it’s 70° and sunny in the winter.
Started at Zilker Park under MoPac and rode to South Congress and the Capital building before gettting on the hike and bike trail around Town Lake.

Thanks Andrew. I used to live in Austin for a few months back in late 1972. It's definitely improved since then... except for homeless.
They didn't have any of those nice bike trails back then.
Beautiful day and lovey video quality.

Nice, I used to live in Austin as well for four years when I was younger. Crazy the difference from then to now in such a short span of time.

@@cyclingtexas1670 The road you were on around the state capital building has the same feeling as back in 1972.
But the skyline with all those modern office building high rises is completely different.
What were the changes you noticed from the years since you lived there?

@@gorrddthe most noticeable thing is the skyline, I remember when the tallest and only modern building was the frost bank tower. Now it’s unrecognizable from back then, you can’t even see the frost tower anymore with all the other buildings

@@cyclingtexas1670 How long ago was that, Andrew? I returned to live in Texas back in late 2008 and Austin had expanded incredibly, even back then.
Now we are fifteen years past that point. Apparently, this is when most of the high rises happened. You images sure show that.
And I'm guessing that rents have hit the roof, forcing allot of people out.

Austin Texas was the first big city I ever rode a bike in. I rented some bromptons and rode from my hotel off i35 to Guero’s on south congress. It was cool to see the same area I rode in. 10 years later I’m getting ready to fly to NYC with my trek to ride the 5 boro tour in two weeks. This is going to be the 2nd big city I ride a bike in lol, and a huge city at that. Im super excited to ride my own bike this time and make memories with it.

@@cyclingtexas1670 I got the whole ride on my go pro, but somehow the camera reset without me knowing and it shot at 480p!! 🤦🏽‍♂️ so the footage looks like some 1980’s footage lol. I was so disappointed with that. But the experience was amazing

@BUCKSHOTSTV lol, I know how that feels. That’s why I make less videos now. The damn camera annoys the hell out of me sometimes. Have to troubleshoot in the middle of the ride, instead of enjoying the ride. Glad you enjoyed the experience!
