Bringing on Musah at RB instead of Florenzi, is the single dumbest move i've ever seen a coach make. It made NO sense and is the single reason we dropped two points. That alone shows Pioli has NO IDEA what he's doing. He's clearly not good enough for Milan, and the longer we hold on to him, the worst it's gonna get. If ownership waits till the summer to make a change, we are NOT making Top 4. No chance with this clueless manager. If they don't make a change in the summer at the latest, that is a clear message to the fans from ownership they do not care about winning. It's not just Pioli on the hot seat. It's ownership too. If they don't make a move, that speaks volumes, and not anything positive.

This inconsistency is too frustrating. I think Pioli should definitely go because he is not a coach for the future. But I do also feel like they should let him stay for the rest of the season because bringing in a new coach now would probably cause further disruptions, and Milan's season could end up being very disastrous. So keep Pioli until the season ends and start now already to look for a high-profile replacement.

Ever since the derby, pioli out has been the clear choice in my opinion. There has been recently a consistent pattern, the only exemption being the PSG game which was a lucky game (not that I’m complaining). We do well in the first half, then the opposing team makes some changes and we end up losing or drawing the game. Pioli has two critical faults. Firstly, bad substitutions. Musah was partly responsible for the first goal and almost entirely for the second. Putting on flornenzi makes much more sense. Additionally, he refuses to make any subs that aren’t like for like. We’re up 2-0 at halftime. Okafor can play as a striker. Take off Chukwueze who is having a bad game and put on a more defensive player!! We do not need to keep pushing for more goals. Secondly, pioli refuses to change his tactics. He has said it himself, and it has cost us many games. This is also partly due to his inability to change a game plan. At halftime, the other coach says “OK, they’re playing like this. Here’s how we play against this.” and they come back and draw. Pioli needs to adapt his game plan and make defensive substitutes to hold onto a lead. He also at times needs to change his tactics from the start. Inverting the fullbacks against Inter, the best counterattackers in the league(even though it pains me to say it), is ridiculous. Thiaw can’t handle Thurman, and you should know that. Pioli thinks he is pep guardiola but he doesn’t have the players to make up for his dollar store pep tactic imitations. Forza Milan! ❤️🖤

I’d like to add how Theo Hernandez played a massive part in the second goal against us. Throwing yourself on the ground expecting everybody to stop as a left back is not a fighter mentality. What if they dont stop then we are one man down in the back ranks which was what led to the goal. Yes Musah should have done this and that but Theo should stop acting like a baby and focus on playing the game supporting his team.

Pioli IN now... but out later
    Here are my 3 takeaways:
    1. The game:
I think we are looking at this game in the rearview mirror. For example: Why was Musah given a RB position? Because Calabria was being beaten by Banda, apparently got injured. Yunus is the only one to have the pace to catch up to Banda, which he did.
So why did we concede? Lecce brought 3 fresh players in midfield and attack. Meanwhile, the team doesn't cope with this new reality.
    * First goal: Yunus has to be on 2 players because Theo is in spectator mode on the corner.
    * Second goal: Yunus fails to stop the game, Theo takes a rest and the entire midfield doesn't get back in defense and play as if they still have momentum.
Those goals weren't on Yunus alone, I think to single him out like many in the press have is unfair.
We nearly lost this game because the vast majority of the players didn't have it in them to fight back. Pioli gets some of the blame but there is an attitude problem, an injury problem and much more which go beyond what Pioli or any coach can do.
    2. The season
Guys, it's a LONG season. Let's look at where we are in the table. Let's remember there are 26 games to go. We're not even halfway through.
Roma went to 11th to now 3 or 6 points from us (depending on how their game goes). Let's calm the F*** down. Shit happens and shit can happen again for everyone.
    3. Pioli's future
We don't have any serious candidates to replace Pioli. We don't have the money for De Zerbi. Conte is a joke who got beaten by Pioli last season. But even if we had one, changing managers doesn't solve everything and it could easily backfire. 👇Feel free to list your candidates bellow.
We need to see whether we qualify for the UCL group stage. If we don't, Pioli will be sacked. Cardinale sacked Toulouse's Manager for being just a few points away from expectations. Our expectation is to qualify for the knockouts, if we don't, Pioli will be gone. Either way, I agree we reached the ceiling with him and we should see him leave at the end of the season.

Musah had his shirt coming s of course but I agree that Pioli set him up to fail. At that point in the match with two goals up we didn’t need to be attacking that much. Florencio would have done just fine at that point. As a matter of fact we,d still have an attack minded RB on the field. Pioli’s choices baffles me at times. Only thing he got right in that game was Reinders position. He was brilliant. Seems we still need a more viable back up to right wing as well.

Superb video, Kush. You summed up Pioli's foolishness absolutely perfectly, including how he set up Musah to fail. That's what stuns me about some elements of the fanbase : how they can't recognize that while the players ARE also responsible, it is on the coach when they screw up while playing outside their proper position. You can't expect a 20-year-old like Musah to ball at RB, when he's barely ever played there.

Had no one in middle of field. No one in front of him. No one was near him! He had no pass! Maybe the real blame was giroud getting sent off for whining! Two yellow cards for whining about a call that didn’t even matter! Maybe not being a man down Milan would have been focused, had a man in middle of field for musa to pass too, had a player free in support to pass too! Yet nothing about giroud???

  • @naimichaels595
    @naimichaels595 Před 6 měsíci

Things i see with this Milan team:
    1) Selfishness in play. Always too much dribbling, never looking for that extra pass or the open man.
    2) No playstyle. At times it looks like they can't even string a couple passes together and everyone is on an island.
    3) Zero creativity in final third. The midfielders TJ and RFC are workhorses but lack any ability in playmaking. Everyone just spams aimless crosses into the box.
    4) Horrible mentality. You get the sense watching them that they are always on the verge of imploding. When the opponent starts clawing back they crumble.
There is talent there but they're going to need a new coach to implement a system and mentality because this has been going on since the start of the season. You could always see it but it got glossed over because they were getting some results.

I think it depends how the players feel. If many of them still have his back and think he's "the guy", then give it a little more time. But if he's already lost the locker room then I think it's time to move on. I don't have anyone in mind to replace him, but his shitty decision making has to be seriously questioned. When Musah subbed on for Calabria I thought Krunic or Pobega would've went to the back line, which still might not have been a great move, but clearly Musah was like a fish out of water back there. Was very tough to watch him basically give up 2 goals in 5 minutes, especially since I feel he's been playing fairly well thus far. Obviously didn't help that Theo decided to roll around for a couple minutes from a weak challenge instead of get up and play some defense. I think had he gotten back that would've been enough to prevent the 2nd goal. Easy to point fingers, but another blown opportunity by the team. Glad to see Reijnders finally score one though. Wish it had been two. Hopefully Leao's fine and we can get some of these injured guys back into the mix after the break...

I’ve been pioli out but if we don’t have a significant improvement to replace him then it will be for nothing, which is why I’m glad to see apparently they’re not going to rush to sack him and appoint an interim, they’ll see if they can find a good option and then sack him if they have to. The question at some point will be: who to choose from that won’t require a massive buyout? And there’s probably two major options for no buyout: Marcelo Gallardo and Hansi Flick(among these, I much prefer Gallardo due to his time at river plate which was more of a real project).
But I wonder if there’s somebody the club would consider paying an affordable buyout for that isn’t a conventional option(no clue who that would be). I don’t like the idea of Italiano or Gasperini. Among conventional options, maybe they see something in Thiago Motta? It would be kinda funny if we hired another coach whose longest tenure was at Bologna before joining Milan. It feels too early to chase Gilardino and it definitely feels too early to consider pipelining in Abate even though I like him.

If they get rid of pioli next month or in january, i think 6 months is enough to see what Abate can do before signing a new coach. I mean pioli already fucked up Milan chance in UCL and serie-a, so its not really too late to try a new coach like Abate before its too late. Of course with Abate, he can bring his best players from primavera to play with the main team. And I almost forgot that they need to kick lord krunic with pioli at the same time, i mean he plays so awful but still demands a high salary for his new contract. Ok Ill be “that guy” Pioli stays. Did he make the wrong subs, absolutely, there was no reason for Musah to go LB when Florenzi is available. Should Jovic play? Absolutely not, the guy is John Cena as soon as he steps on the pitch. However, I have noticed when Milan is controlling the game in similar fashion, Newcastle, Dortmund, Napoli, and Lecce, the players seems to play around too much. Like it is “too easy” for them and stop taking it seriously. In the CL they weren’t scoring, and in the league they couldve had 3-4 goals in the first half, but after scoring 2 they just stop taking it serious. We were up 2-0 with the lineup Pioli put out, even after Rafa went down. We created so many opportunities I think Okafor played good unlike Chuk and Jovic, so I give Pioli credit for the lineup working on the first half and blame for the horrible second, but again we could have scored more than 2 if the players took it serious and not waste opportunities simply because we are dominating. On a side note, my favorites Calabria and Pulisic are both injured the medical director needs to be sacked asap!!! We have seen what Pioli can do with a full team, even though we have 8 new players we can go toe to toe with anyone. Pioli does have the tactics to win, but he does not have the players, they are never at 100! We now have more injuries than starters that is unacceptable. The players need to understand that in Serie A you do not forgive opportunities because they will come back to haunt you, there are no easy games, the only one that seems to understand is Calabria, and Pulisic that is always busting his butt for the team and Calabria respects that about him. We need everyone to be serious for the entire game, and even more so when we are dominating we have shown mercy too many times.

  • @federicomarri
    @federicomarri Před 6 měsíci

    PIOLI OUT.
You correctly mentioned his "obsession" for Messias. That's the best word to describe Pioli: obsessed. Completely obsessed. When he has with an idea, he is not going to change it regardless of what happens. We saw this with Messias, especially at the end of the year when Salemeakers was consistently doing better (gol against napoli, etc.) but Pioli was obsessed with Messias. I also remember the derby lost 1-0 where he put Messias as midfielder and LEAO ON THE BENCH. Then, he preferred Gabbia to Thiaw for 7 months. Thiaw started playing obly because all the others were injured. Also there was this period between March and April where he would put Bakayoko every game in... Now the same is happening with Krunic, I bet he'd rather die than keep Krunic on the bench. He is just obsessed with his own ideas and it really feels like he thinks he's some sort of soccer genius, so he always has to do something strange to surprise everybody. You know how eventually everybody knows the best 11 for each team, and that's usually the starting eleven. With Pioli no, there's always something he has to change. I think the only time we had the best 11 on the pitch was against PSG. We have lost so many games in the past years where he would bench either bennacer, tonali or kessie to put runic, pobega, etc. Musah yesterday was a move to surprise. Then we have Romero against Napoli. Then there was that 2-2 against Rome where he changed half team at like 85' and we went from 2-0 to 2-2...
I am also sorry for Musah because he is only 20, super young and huge potential... He is not going to feel well these days, he probably knows the loss is on him... But it's not his fault, it's the "genius' fault" who chose to bring him on RB. You know, if he puts Maignan as a striker and Maignan does not score, it's not like we can blame it on him...
Personally, I have always felt he was this type of guy... things definitely fot worse after the winning of the Scudetto. At this point, even a NORMAL, MEDIOCRE, HUMBLE coach that would limit himself to have the best-11 players playing without weird stuff would be way better...
Then, of course, there is the injury problem. I bet he is obsessed with athletic preparation as much as he is obsessed with Krunic... so no hope something is going to change. Some say he has kept the same staff for like 10 years. Of course, if you have 25 injuries while Inter has 6, it gets complicated to compete...
Finally, there is the tattic problem. We are playing poor soccer. He is winning games just because the squad is too strong relative to other serie A teams. But usually, gols come out of individual plays (whether it's leao dribbling, pulisic shooting or some random cross that Giroud puts in). It feels like we defend with few men, and attack with few men. We don't play defend nor attack. It's just this highly unbalanced ball possession which does not create much gol chances and that at the same time leaves our defenders often alone against strikers. It's just bad. Anyway, given all the above, it has become the minor problem...
P.S. I don't agree on Okafor. He is not Leao but I think overall he played decently and he is a very good reserve. The first goal is somewaht his merit as well. He always puts in some dribblings and shots (think of PSG also...)

My father is a big Real Madrid fan and cause of that I watch their games quite often. For free, I could’ve adviced Milan to stay away from Luca Jovic… he’s just a no show. Idk which scout decided that Jovic was an option but needs to reconsider a career switch.

Pioli is making the same mistakes over and over again. Musah played well considering the position change. His mistakes started when he got tired from all that running. So I don’t blame him.
Krunic and pobega both in the same formation is a major bluff. They don’t help in front and are questionable in the back. He should have went with florenzi as Rb, Krunic or pobega with Adli as cdm and musah in front.
The only consistent player this season is Giroud, 36 year old, very slow and doesn’t dribble, but still manages to do more than Okafor, Chukweze and Jovic together.

Musah - was forced to play RB (by the genius Pioli) so no wonder he failed
Krunic - Another mid-table guy, like his father Pioli.
Jovic - lost the plot years ago
Theo - sick and tired of him rolling around on the ground and getting yellow cards

I said it several times here in the past and will say it again, Pioli is a Class B coach. He is limited Tactically and does not have the ability to manage Stars. Kush! I love your content and appreciate your passion for our club but all this putting down of Pioli and some players like Calabria in particular is a bit overdone at times. Is Pioli the right guy for the long term? Probably not. But we simply can’t expect every match to go brilliantly. Especially with the fitness issues, lack of good substitutes for most positions , low budget, and the fatigue of these players used like work horses in what has been a grueling schedule since late September. The performance against PSG shows what the squad can do if well prepared, mostly fit, and highly motivated. Every player put in over 100% against PSG and now a few days later these same tired players understandably took their foot off the gas after being 2-0 ahead against an inferior squad. Milan simply still doesn’t have sufficient depth to excel in multiple competitions. Hopefully as rebuilding continues we become more versatile and solid like Inter and even Juve. Both those clubs can field two competitive squads while Milan still cannot. If you lose Theo and another solid player like Leao the club is up the creek without a paddle now.
IMHO Pioli should have rested many of the starters against Lecce and gave the subs he does have an opportunity to shine against a lower team.

I think this game was the proof that pioli reached his peak 2 years ago on the scudetto season and now is his downfall, while its true that the players have a great share of the responsibilty pioli´s mistakes are cristal clear. Choosing musah instead of floranzi when calabria got injured, his absolute devotion to rade krunic as a starter and luka jovic having chances while he is a complete ghost meanwhile players like adli simply doesn´t exist for him, and when roberto D´aversa.... D´AVERSA! outplays you on the substitutions you simply can´t ignore it. Thanks pioli for what you did but he must make a way for another coach, he already gave everything he could and now its empty of ideas, sadly the admins still support him and i don´t see him out until the end of the season at least. If the decision was up to me i´ll wait until the end of the champions league group stage which is pioli´s only hope and if he doesn´t make the next round put abate temporarily until the end of the season and then go for either De zerbi or Italiano

What people dont understand is that no matter what Pioli has to go as soon as possible. Not having proper replacement is not an excuse because this man lost authority of this team and dressing room and thats the worst thing that can happen. I would like Abate as temporarly solution, until the summer, but unfortunatly for us i think managament has accepted this low standard no game style of play and coach that they will wait until summer with pioli. Because, when you look at it, this season has changed from scudetto to top 4 run in a matter of weeks. We are not going to win serie a lets be honest, and will maybe get to R16 in CL but thats as far as we are going. So they will probably leave him in position until summer and then rebuild a squad again, but then hopefuly with someone who has his saying and bigger authority then this chinese copy from Alibaba Pioli.

First, how is that Chukwueze has been looking worste then Saelemakers this season, while being Villareals best player and one of best wingers in La Liga for few years? How is that De Ketelare had 20 G/A with Brugge in Cl and Belgium league and when he came here and played under Pioli didnt do anything beside 1 assist in 30+ games? But this season, in same league with different team that doestn have as quality players as we do is looking like 60 mil player? Clearly you all think that Pioli is a great coach but you should look at the facts more then emotions and Fifa ultimate team knowledge. Cause this is not a video game. And on top of that- losing 5 city derbies straight with more then 10 goals conceded and 1 scored speaks for itself. So before you speak and pretend like super Milan fan you should educate your self.

Well if you look at the teams he managed in the past. Lazio, Fiorentina and then Inter. He was only there for 1-3 years before being sacked. Management must have sacked him for a reason. Also I don't understand why we can beat some big teams and then lose to them as well as some smaller teams. If you look at Pioli's tenure at Milan, it's not the players, it's the manager. His style and tactics do not suit AC Milan. This season we kept him and decided to go on a cash spending spree of buying players hoping to make the team better which did not work completely. We've been with him for 4 years only winning the league title last year because Inter slipped up. 5+ years if he's still there next year after Christmas. So where do we go from here? I'd say sack him ASAP before we become a laughing stock not just in Serie A but in Europe as well. Reports are saying Furlani and Moncada are gonna have a meeting with him next week. Hope they sack him after the meeting and whoever takes his place better have the balls to put our team in the right direction. #PioliOut

If we think Pirlo is the solution we are seriously troubled. Last season we got to champions league semifinal, results are coming. We should've won against our last 3 games, but the players are not helping either. To be honest, I don't understand why Pioli put Musah at right back when we had Florenzi, and why not putting Adli? Our decision making in the final third is poor but I liked what I seen from Okafor and to some extent Chuckwueze too.

This is not surprising after a terrible run of games in the run up. Pioli seems to be a little stagnated in his thinking of how to use and instruct players primarily. Or how he wants the team to attack or defend.
It is even more frustrating when juve and inter who heat us, didn't break a sweat and just used pure athleticism to win. They are not better than Milan at all.
