Dominique, my wife and are old school but appreciate what young people are doing, e.g. social media platforms. We limit are input to very few platforms and limit access to info. If a CEO is not to our liking like Zuckerberg then we don’t use or limit use. We absolutely don’t like people of right politics who do evil. Racism is evil. My wife and I both have a dream like the great MLK, judging by “the content of their character”. So be careful on social platforms.....study hard.....do good for others........pay it forward. Best to you pretty girl.
MIT is my dream school,
because i love math, and i love the spirit of the school, about helping each other and collaborating to change the world its all really motivate me to keep it up and work hard.

This girl just called me incompetent 8 different times and I don’t even feel bad about it😂. She’s a freaking queen!
Her intelligence shines through her awareness about world issues!! It's amazing how creative, attentive, and committed she is. Those schools made incredible decisions and showed that decisions don't just depend on quantitative factors but also depend on qualitative factors.
When she said that she wrote it in one sitting, it made me feel like I knew her. You can write but what you can write without stopping, is something that you feel true passion for, Then you should start editing. Whatever school she goes to is gonna be the luckiest school.
I felt that, I wrote my common app essay in one sitting about my transition from public school to my private school as black girl and facing racism..
“Umm, check my test scores” hahaha!! Yassss! I could hear her passion when she was talking about her Essay so I can only imagine what it actually said to make her cry! This is incredible

what i got from this video is that her essays got her in - like that is such a unique and personal topic that every school must've been able to see her genuineness and her innovative spirit from the first few words; and that's the essay she submitted to every ivy through the common app - like it's not just that she wants to make an impact but that she knows how and with the school's resources she can

This video has definitely changed my perspective about college applications in general! I just finished my sophomore year and since the beginning of high school I've always made it a goal of having a really high GPA and just having the highest scores I can get. Now I'm still focusing on getting the highest grades I can get but now I'm more active in clubs and my community. I remember that my freshman year I only joined one club, FBLA, and I was in the freshman girl's basketball team. However, my advisor from FBLA was the one who pushed me to become an officer for FBLA and I guess that was the beginning of me becoming more active in my community. Going into my sophomore year, I started taking classes with juniors and I was in FBLA as a member and a officer and I joined another club which was Key Club. I was also part of Junior Varsity girl's basketball team and I'm really grateful for that because I became MVP for JV this last season. I'm also really grateful because I was able to maintain a 4.5 GPA my sophmore year. I'm getting to much into details 😂
Anyways what I got from this video is that you want to have passion for what you do and just don't do stuff because "this is what I need to get accepted". What I believe that colleges look at in college applications is that applicants are all-around students. What I mean by that is that you have the best grades that You Can Get, you are active in your community, and you show passion for making an impact in your community based on what you've experienced as a person.
This girl is genuinely awesome! Her talking about her resume and her common app essay really has made me think about other aspects about college applications.

Great conversation and really enjoy your content, Dom! You're a quality interviewer. As for the last question, we should keep in mind the demographic make up of most elite schools. Maybe those students got in because they represent the status quo or are legacies. Why do we need a qualifier to explain our presence in elite spaces if the majority doesn't? Wishing Roberta the very best and so happy she chose the school she felt the best at. Like both of you and many others, I'm a fellow smart black girl. I was literally weeping when Columbia rejected me but this stranger, an Indian girl who went to my high school bought me lunch and cheered me up. It makes me genuinely happy to see this conversation and see her wearing her Columbia gear with a smile. At that age, I felt like my worth was tied to school because academic success was the only space I felt valued. I'm sooo over academia now that I'm done with grad school. 😅 Love that she's studying African American studies along with her STEM major. I recommend anyone in undergrad adding at least a certificate in some type of African Studies. My undergrad experience was so much fun. Also study abroad is a must!

I think what made the IVYs like her isn’t her stats, because tbh her stats aren’t that amazing compared to the other students I have seen here on CZcams. I think what made the colleges like her were/was her essays and what she wanted to do to impact the world.

Idk what my dream school is, but I am always between princeton, columbia, pepperdine and USC
Pepperdine has financial aid limits for international students, usc is really the best for film studies but princeton has the best campus and columbia is in new york

That’s a pretty low SAT score for white/asian cohorts i got 2140/2400 with english as second language and i would say that was pretty low among my circle of friends. Her score would convert to 2130/2400 if she had taken it in 2008 when i graduated. Affirmative action at its best!
