Check your engine “compression ratio”. The higher the compression ratio the higher octane needed for better performance. Octane is to prevent your engine from knocking at high rpm.
I always use 93 from shell v power it increases performance and cleans injectors and intake valves and also I get better gas mileage when I use it
Shell gets ifs gas right out of the same tanks at the port as Delta and GasCo. Ask any tanker truck driver. You are wasting your money

Basically you put what the manufacturer recommends so if they recommend premium you put premium if not you put regular.

Car manufacturers list horsepower with regular and premium gas, like the Ford Bronco, so my assumption is that since it does have a higher hp with premium, that's the proper octane those types of vehicles need to run at its maximum capacity.
I feel my car stalling if I ever accidently put 87 only done it couple times but I'm in 2015 ford focus I feel like once u start using the better shit 93 u can't go back
Toyota recommends 91 or higher . In my area stations only offer 89 or 93. Can i use the 89?
My 2002 aztek Manuel say to use plus but been using regular for about 3 months and it's starting skip and jerk,very low power and cuts off at RPM higher than 1.5,it given me a real headache.

But in order for this to work you need to pay cash. Pereferably with coins ;)
The reduction in weight because you now have less money would give you all this nice benefits. If you pay with a credit card it unfortunately won't work.

Never put in lower octane than what the manufacturer recommends, that is just asking for trouble.
But if your engine can ajust timing does it matter if you just go down one octane rating?

Most cars don't just have on them what they recommend though and the average person doesn't probably want to go online to research. Don't see why it can't just be right next to where you fill the tank with the recommended fuel type... but that would be too easy.

The only time you need a high octane gas is when you have a new car and the manufacturer says to use it. If not it may void the warranty. Now in some cars like classic cars with huge motors YES WE NEED HIGH OCTANE. My 72 Nova needed a minimum of 100 octane. But that was a custom car with a custom built engine that needed it to avoid detonating
What most don't say is your owner's manual most of them anyways. Says use (Minimum*) of 87 octane fuel or even 85 depending on elevation. That's just what it is. A minimum, they don't give a maximum. Any fuel injected cars. Even the old obd1 systems can adjust the air fuel ratios for the higher octane. It burns slower and more complete smoother running engine more complete burn less emissions and less build up. Even on carbs people run premium that has a set fuel jet. Here's the thing, not everyone runs premium for more horsepower. It's well known most known gas stations there whole competition is how clean their premium gas it for your motor. Some people just want the best for their engine and have less carbon build up cleaner intake valves and pistons. Cleaner more efficient burning means less going into the catylitic converters to clog up. What's really better is premium to each their own. If you own a car for a few years and sl it or lease it. Doesn't really matter next owner's problem. Or you could run additives every few thousand miles. But that's like taking laxatives from eating crap food when good food is about $6 more a week. You can get through to a high mileage life eating junk constantly but when it gets dirty or clogged it fails hard. All these videos focus on high octane nd horsepower. Most who use premium don't race. No videos focus on the real reason better running cleaner engine. A engine that's clean is running in the best conditions for gas mileage. If you change fuel filter w few times and use 87 from a top tier station you can get by better then. Corner sotre. Top tier was created because EPA minimum wasn't enough engine was clogged under 100k miles it was the right octanefuel that the computer could use. It just left a lot of carbon. Premium is more refined has less of the oily residue on lower gas

They don't pump it for us here
Some stations here in New Zealand pump it for you, but it's quite common to just be able to ask and someone will do it - they are quite friendly here.

I experimented with my Hyundai. Recommended 91. Running 98 did nothing better.
Read your owners manual and run what the Engineers recommend. That simple. Running higher than the recommended is a waste. Running less causes a major increase in engine wear.

Every vehicle I've ever owned or driven got increased fuel encomy when I put 93 and above in it compared to 87 or 89.
Now do you need premium? That depends on your vehicle and what the car manufacturer recommends and/or requires.
My Volkswagen Atlas with 87 gas gets about 280 on a full tank. With 93 it gets about 380. I calculated it, drove the same routes with the same traffic, the same days and same.times of days.
I used to have a 2010 Altima. On regular it would get about 380 on a full tank. 93 premium I was getting slight over 500. One time I did all highway miles I was able to get slightly above 600 before I stopped.

Sucks because 91 about 60¢ (I've seen it as much as 80¢ ) P/G more than 87 now. I use about 60 gallons a week driving Uber and Lyft. A lot of people claim that 3habe been using 87 for years without problems.. I think they are playing a dangerous game now that l understand this better. What's annoying is that there's no reason other than greed for the cost to be so much more

From where I'm from, the regular is 95 octanes. Premium is 98. o.o
in malaysia ron95 is the lowest ron and the highest is ron100
If just look into performance it’s a waste and did you talk about engine cleaning. Have you do any research compare the intake valve. Piston head on both gas? After thousands miles of driving. The gunk build up also reduce your car performance. Bring it to the auto shop to clean up the gunk u pays a lot and will only clean up half or even less.

I live in Kentucky I remember at the peak of COVID we had a gas station here that had went down to .99 cents a gallon lol I remember being a kid in the late 90s early 00s and hearing people complaining about .99/gal gas I slightly remember when gas was .89 cents a gallon...little did we know we'd be paying $3 bucks a gallon in the future.
I've always seen when traveling that the usa has lower octane gas and always assumed it was crapier, not that it was calculated through different methods

Nomadunlimited i have a 2018 Elantra GT Sport with the Dual Clutch Transmission. It has a 1.6T engine and i have only ever put 91 octane. It does feel like my car has a bit more power.

Not sure about supercharger engines, but I know pretty much all turbo charged engines need premium (I believe, don't take my 110% word for it)
My Supercharged Cobalt SS is a performance car and yes it does reccomend premium gas

I use premium gas in my car but i might so many people are so fucking cheap on gas while they have very expensive car. Dude i know a guy have a 2016 range rover but i see him put 10$ worth of gas.
Over time regular fuel gums up injectors and passageways. Premium fuel burns cleaner even in engines "calling" for regular fuel. So while your experiment shows little to no difference initially, over time burning regular fuel retards engine performance. Using Premium full time extends engine life and performance. I've witnessed this first hand on about a half dozen different vehicles in the past 20 years.
I found out that my car need premium gas. Smh.. after 8 month of ownership camry v6, today I used premium 93 Octane gas.lol

You are only repeating misinformation in this video. It's not about the fuel igniting before the spark fires due to the compression ratio. It's about ignition timing. Knock happens after the burn is initiated by the plug and is caused by the heat and pressure of the combustion burn itself setting off fuel in the edges of the combustion chamber. This is why modern engines can control knock by retarding ignition. It's not happening before ignition.

After driving 10 hours a day for years Iv'e tested High vs low Octanage gas in different types of compact cars, trucks and luxury cars and I notice the difference in power, and speed and it is noticeable -- I tested it because I like to save money, but in this case it is not worth it is is better to buy plus or premium, because regular gas slows the cars noticeably

E15 is E15 (15% ethanol, 85% gasoline) , it adds ethanol to the mix.
In theory the E## stuff is more eco friendly because the plants used to make the ethanol are CO2 neutral (they produce O2 out of CO2 while growing and then CO2 while burning).
But that just works in theory. In order to have enough plants for the creation of the ethanol forests are cut down which would produce way more O2 than the high energy plants planted. And we are also using farmland which would be needed for the creation of food whichmakes food more expensive (not really affecting the environment in this regard but still bad) which leads to more poverty.
It would be better to use normal fuel and don't mix it with ethanol. Both for the environment and the economy...
