Someone should have been paying you for this. You did such a good job of selling this thing that I’d have bought one right after watching the video, if I hadn’t done it already. I’m joining up. CZcams’s ads can pay you.
Hey man, thanks a ton. I appreciate that and I hope you dig the Mosky! It’s a cool little unit.
I owned Boss ME80, Zoom G5, Zoom 606 and Nux Cerberus. I bought a sol918 after watching 2 or 3 youtube reviews including this.
In term of value for money vs tone vs functionability, I put this at no. 1
Thank you.
It really is a great unit. I use it a lot, the drives are awesome.
This is a really great demo, and the reason for my purchase of the Sol918. Probably the best bang for your buck in a usable fly rig. Thanks for the in depth look inside, very helpful!
Thanks man!! I am glad you liked the vid. I really do love this thing, the loop is great on something like this. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the update. I enjoy the Flamma preamp pedal. Setting it up this way opens up some new possibilities with it. Good informative video.
I am glad you liked the video. Thank you for watching.
Great video. It made me buy a Musky Sol918. It arrived today and it sounds really good. I had a T-Rex Electric Soulmate board, but some ass stole it. Now this is a cheap but good replacement - Thank’s to you 👍🏻
Dang, sorry about your T-Rex. Thieves suck!! Glad you like this pedal, I really think it is an underrated gem. Great drives and very useable delay and verb sounds. Thanks for swinging back by to tell me what you think of it..
Thank you Sir. Best review plus great explanation. Easy to understand for newbie like me☺️👍.
Awesome!! Thanks for watching and I am glad I made the uses clear. It’s a great unit!! 🤘🏻😊
Really loved this pedal. Simple and efficient
It is, basic essentials and they all work.
@@DoubleDguitar the distortion is huuuuge... I play at level 1...
@@SoundCityEstudioPedais yeah, it can be too much if you go beyond that, in certain uses.
Thanks a lot for ur nice video, bought one of this at Shoppe & the sound is incredible, for the price, I think it's worth buying👍
Thank you for watching and I am glad you dig the Mosky. It is definitely a keeper and a great sounding piece. 🤘🏻
Thank you sir great demo and another knowledge again from a world of tone Cheers
Hey, thanks a bunch my man! I’m glad you liked it, this is a great little pedal.
for many days i watch this video i finally made a decision to buy .. vheers
I hope it works out well for you!
Seeing it in your hands made me realize how small it actually is!
It is, very convenient and easy to keep around as a backup! Thanks for watching, as always!!
Thank you for the review..
nice sound, thank
Thanks for watching! It’s a great pedal. 🤘🏻
great review
Thanks!! It a cool little unit. 🤘🏻
10:29 i believe they don't mean "press B for 50k", but rather that's a Presence (Pres) trimpot which is B (linear) type with the value of 50k ohm (you can see the trimpot says 503 which means 50x10^3=50k ohm)
great video, thanks a lot :) i have the same pedal and i use it all the time
Oh excellent, thanks for that clarity and thanks about the vid. It’s a killer little unit🤘🏻
Excellent review as always! I use a Boss GX100 that I love, but just ordered one of these to try as it will fit in my guitar bag for practices.
Hey man, thanks! I use the Sol all the time. It’s a killer little unit for throw and go. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Do you think it would work with just that into a Headrush speaker? I was shooting for very light grab and go, but watching your video now vs. the Guitaria CubeBaby and wondering if I need a preamp or cab sim or would it sound ok without it? I’m in an oldies band so mostly clean and crunch or light distortion.
@@rtroiani you would want a cab sim if you used this, and then leave the “od” on all the time to act as a preamp. Dial it in for a cleanish channel and add the drive for dirt. Put the sim in the loop, or even after. It works well like that direct. As long as you aren’t trying to get really precise and sculpted metal tones, you can get a couple of gain stages going and dial it in. The cab pedal I have is simple and sounds good. Makes me want a better one though. 😆
@@DoubleDguitar thank you sir! I may go for the Cube Baby then since that may be a better choice for three preset tones going into an FRFR or direct to the PA. I’ll still use the GX 100 for gigs. That thing is pretty darn good.
@@rtroiani yeah, they are different things and each have a benefit the other doesn’t. The cube baby is smaller and can go direct without anything else. The two together is a good little setup, but may be overkill compared to what you want. Have fun!
nice demo, thanks for share
Thank you! I am glad you liked it.
@@DoubleDguitar actualization: recibe it 3 months ago, been using it with joy, OV and DS tone is so good ...that coarse grain is just what i needed to tame a "sharp" Marshall amp. Thanks Double D guitar!
@@elcochipit I am glad you like the combo of that and a Marshall, I have been using it with my dsl almost exclusively along with a few Iset pedals to augment the setup. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I bought that and it is a totally fine workhorse. The price is a killer itself, but even without that it is great.
I agree, I use it a lot and it has 100 percent useable tones. Thanks for checking out the video!
I appreciate it man, thanks 🔥
And a thank you to you, as well!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for this video! I would love to buy this as back up pedal to my Zoom G5n.
You are welcome, it is killer little set of effects!
good review
Thanks for checking it out 🤘🏻
thank you ❤️
You’re welcome, thanks for checking out the video. 🤘🏻
I just received the Mosky today, and found multiple videos using it with the Flamma preamp, which I've started using. What a pleasant surprise! That preamp is magical- it turned my cheap Monoprice 15W Laney Cub clone tube amp into a Marshall Plexi, a Marshall Stack, and a Friedman Brown-eye, among others (it does the Plexi exceptionally well). The two together make for an ideal fly rig, a superb pedalboard replacement, and a great all-around simple wall of sound option. Thanks for the amazingly thorough review and run through- nicely done (SUBBED)! PS- what are you using for power? Any noticeable noise issues? Thx
It’s a great combination! So cool you got the same set up running! I am just using a One Spot and a smaller daisy chain. It is nice and quiet. Thanks for Subscribing! I really appreciate it. This and the Flamma are really almost all you need. All my best!🤘🏻
It's hard enough to find quality product reviews, but to find one with my exact setup was spectacular. Thanks! PS- FB link?
@@StevenMKirwan I hear you and am glad I could get these pieces. They are great together and you made a good choice. For FB, you mean a page for the channel? I haven’t gotten one set up. But I am on fb, David Dowling and I have Double D Guitar in the name somewhere. Feel free to hit me up.

Thanks for letting me know. I definitely need to add some more Mosky to my line up. This thing is really great. Thanks for watching 🤘🏻
Would I put a put a cab simulator unit into , the send / return jacks for even more capabilities ? Great , time watching this
Yeah, and you can leave the OD on all the time as a preamp. Then stack the distortion on for more juice. Glad you liked the video. The Sol 918 is awesome.
Thanks for this very informative review. Have you tried the Mosky DC5? If yes, which do you prefer between the two? I'm torn between the chorus on Mosky DC5 and the reverb on Mosky Sol918. Can I also patch thiw to a wah pedal? Thanks in advance...
You’re welcome, and thank you for watching 🤘🏻
I personally like a wah before my overdrives, so you could go guitar into wah, out of wah and into this unit.
I haven’t tried the DC5, so I can’t speak on it. I was drawn to the effects loop on this being a toggle switch, as opposed to what I think the layout was on the DC5. I really like the drives on this and the delay has a nice character. This reverb is worth the price of the pedal, alone. It can be nice and subtle or get really saturated. I tend not to use chorus too much, and only very subtly if I do. You have the option here to always get a chorus pedal or two to run into the effects loop and try some different ones. Hope this helps!
@@DoubleDguitar Wow, thanks. I was about to purchase the DC5, then I bumped to your vids. Your immediate reply helps me a lot on deciding what to get. Thanks again and keep it up, new subscriber here! 👍
@@daejumong4386 I am really glad I could help and thanks a ton for subscribing!! I appreciate and hope you enjoy the unit. It’s a killer piece and sounds really good into my Marshall DSL 20. 🤘🏻
Hello, I’m thinking of using it for vocal because it easy to turn on off from switch. However does it make electrical noise? Thanks
Hello, I don’t have any grounding noise when using it with guitar. It doesn’t have an xlr Jack for a microphone, so you would need an adapter, which may introduce noise to a microphone. I can’t promise it would work properly that way, but may do what you need.
Thank you for a very good review. Do you happen to know this thing's current draw? I haven't been able to find any info on that, not even on the official page.
Thanks for watching! I do not know, but I know I can power it and 7 other pedals with one single 1Spot rated for 2k.
All you need is a regulated 9Vdc 300ma Negative Tip standard power supply, it’s the most standard power supply you can buy, I can get new in the UK for around £5 so if you know where to buy from in the US you should be able to pick one up for no more than U$10 if not cheaper, you’ve probably got one at home somewhere to be honest.
@@thedeadxtras9927 it’s 9v and definitely 300 ma will cover it.
@@DoubleDguitar thanks and apologise I’ve been looking at so many different specs the last couple of days I got mixed up, thanks for picking me up on my mistake!! Excellent video by the way sir
@@thedeadxtras9927 hey man, no apologies needed and thanks about the video!🤘🏻🤘🏻 I have accidentally messed up a couple of things popping the wrong voltage into them. All my best bro
All that fat fuzz from that 'lil box? Pretty incredible. I'd say that's a bargain for 4 pedals in one. Now,
are the effect buttons spaced far enough to use your foot on it though?
They sure are! Check out my comparison on this and the Getaria, the spacing is great for at your feet. And add some inexpensive button toppers and you won’t miss.
Please review mvave mini pre amp paired with mosky sol918.. Im planning to buy that mini pre amp since i already bought the sol918 after watching your videos.. Thanks for your review master double d! Cheers!!🤘🤘🤘
Hey thank you and I am glad you like the channel and the Mosky! It’s a great one. I will look now for that preamp, sounds interesting and I know the Sol works great with the Flamma preamp. If I find the M-vave, I will grab it and do a video for it, for sure.

@@DoubleDguitar woah im really looking forward to it.. I can't wait for the review so i can order mine asap.. Well thanks master double d!! Cheers!! 🤘🤘🤘
@@kcahm911 check my latest upload, and thank you for the request! It’s a cool preamp, especially for the price!
Just wondering, can you remove the small knobs and replace them for bigger ones or are they just permanent?
They are permanent. You may be able to use certain styles of knobs to fit over them. I have an “OKnob” sized for Boss pedals and it fits over them.
In the four cable method, where would one put an external modulation pedal like a rotary in the chain?
I would put it in the loop, since I like modulation before the reverb and delays. Send from Moskey to pedal input, out from pedal to return. However, if your modulation is stereo and you want to run a stereo setup from it, use it after the Mosky. Output from Mosky to the modulation, then stereo out from there.
@@DoubleDguitar I'll give that a try. I've moved on from modelling amps and got a quilter and want just a handful of fx to go with it's already great amp tone
@@skukeness6201 oh nice! I have heard great things about the Quilter amps. Let me know if you end up with one of these. 🤘🏻
@@DoubleDguitar I opted for one of their overdrive pedals instead. But I can attest to the build and sound quality of the company
Where did you connect the output? If front of the amp while the fx loop is at the send and return of the amp? Is the puroose of the toggle switch in mosky is on and off if you want to use the fx loop?
When using it 4cm, the output goes to the return of an effects loop. The loop on the Mosky can also just be its own loop. And yeah, the toggle turns the Mosky loop off.
@@DoubleDguitar thanks a lot
@@kristobalsanchez8188 you got it. It’s a great little unit, for the price.
@DoubleDguitar so guitar goes into Sol918 input, Sol918 send goes into amp input, amp FX loop send goes into Sol918 return, and finally Sol918's output goes into amp FX loop return? Does it set drive and OD before amp's preamp, and modulation in the FX loop?
Hi, can you control manually the looper function? Thank you
Hey man! You need to use the switch to turn the fx loop on and off, you can’t use your foot for it like the model before. But I just always leave it on.
thanks to clear it up, I was planning to buy it for my synthesizer. I don't own any pedal or guitar.
@@j4nnem4n oh cool! I bet it would work well as a primary unit. Let me know if you end up getting it. 🤘🏻👍🏻
what power adapter you use?
Any 9 volt works, i am pretty sure I had a one spot.
Can I use looper pedal with this?
Yeah, I would put the looper after this one.
Hi..how the mosky sound if direct to amp..?
Sounds very good! Very easy to get good sounds into an amp with it. Thank you!
@@DoubleDguitar thank you so much for u answer..😊
@@salim6129 you are welcome, thanks for checking out the video.
At 16:52 Aren't the arrows on the loop pointing the wrong way?
You send the signal from the Mosky to your pedal & it returns, altered by that pedal to the Mosky.
The arrows point against that flow... 🤔
The arrows on the unit are backwards! I say that in the video, at one point. Follow the words on the unit, not the arrows, for signal flow. It was 😵💫🤯at first lol
@@DoubleDguitar Sorry, missed that. This is the first guitar video I've watched since I lost most of my fingers on my left (chord) hand to sepsis. It's been a tad emotional!

Anyway, it's in cherry red deep gloss, maple neck & gold fittings. Owned it since 1983, learned to play on it (try getting that guitar out in front of people whilst you're learning! You just can't do it! I had to hide until I could make a convincing noise with it! 😆)

I have to keep it low on the volume for the most part, try the dip switches inside. Check out the section about them to see if it would help.
is there any difference between using fx loop and not using fx loop?
thank you sir
Hey man, as far as the sound from the unit with it on or off, no difference in tone. It’s a nice option for adding the gain stage to your preamp input and using the amp’s effect loop for the reverb and delay. Or to add other pedals, if needed. But as far as a 4 in one unit, it’s a great little piece with really good sounds. Especially for the price.

Zoom g1x four or mosky sol918???
The Mosky has no amp modeling or anything like the Zoom, just these effects. But they are really well done and it is easy to expand the unit with other pedals.
