Vent vaccum leak problem quick fix - 98' Ford Expedition
Vložit
- čas přidán 7. 06. 2014
- This is a fix for vent problems in a 1998 ford expedition.
Symptoms:
Air would only blow thru the defrost vents (setting) only regardless of vent setting.
Reason for problem:
Vacuum tube connected thru firewall was compromised (dry rot).
Solution:
Bought vacuum hose connector and bridged the two broken lines with it.
Notes: As stated in the video, seems like this is a common problem in fords (Especially Expedition).
Feel free to comment below!!
I will have to try this tomorrow, thank you.

Thanks for the video!!!
thanks so much brother you solve my problem thanks a lot
Thanks man i did what i seen on the video it work i was about $645 at the shop you save me money.
oh please what is the size of that piece of hose you use to bridge that two hoses, just the size please, I have a same car, same problem too. thanks again for your help.
I can hear a leak over there, it does the same thing but i can't see any cracks or anything. The air sounds like its leaking after the car is turned off
There is a vacuum circle so to speak that basically encircles the intake... It is almost always 1 of the little hoses in that circle that just rots away from age... Honestly you could have connected those with duct tape and it would have worked just fine.... Your fix should last much longer than a year...
Awesome idea! I was about to spend more money to change that vac line
thanks dude 😀👍
Good video
I'm going to try this out tomorrow I hope this works I have AC and heat in the back but no AC or heat in the front
Hi I tried what you said to do from your video and it worked perfect. the only difference was my vacuum hose had come out of that firewall bushing. when I pushed it back in it worked. The mechanic must have accidentally pulled it out when he changed the battery.
thanks for the video, exactly the same thing with me, but my T-connector snapped off.
i called my local shop and they said it's probably the blend door acuator ($600.) i'll get
a connector and see what happens..if it works -i got a happy wife with a/c.
Thank u for point me in the right direction I was try to put that connection on mine and it broke real short so I ended up using a clear tube from a extra breathing machine I had a it was alot more snugged then the connection
Iam having a similar issue with my truck. I can get ac thru my panel vents, but not heat. I'd put the heat on and it feels like ac is coming out, but the rear vents are blowing out heat. Any suggestions?
Mines the same except i only have heat in front but back blows hot and cold
my 2001 Ford Taurus does that when going up a hill it starts blowing AC through the defrost vent
Jonathan Simpson you have a vacuum leak.
This is what mine keeps doing, but the floor vent is also always on anytime the air is turned on. But the air is always ice cold.but i cant find a leak anywhere. I can hear one just cant find it.
I have the same issue, now finding it maybe another issue.
Thanks for the video I have a 2000 Expedition and yesterday it started doing the same thing and also got a check engine light
No problem! :-)
This guy is smart as fuck ty for the tip bro.
Yes an Ford ranger
I see you have the ok slip light on did you remove your air bags ?
Does this work on 2006 Ford Crown Vic p71
06C.V.P.I lovemyvic only if your problem is a broken vac tube
Took my truck into get that same tube fixed, the fucking idiot pulled the tube away from wherever it connects behind the firewall. He can't fix it. Anyone know where that line connects to and the fix besides pulling the fucking dash board?
I want to send you $. Big help! You made me money, saved me time and my customers happy. I even think this may have solved a intermittent back fire issue. Whats ur paypal account?
No need to send money. Just figured i help somebody with the same problem i had but now I drive a 2012 Dodge Durango.
