The calm dude at the beginning is not killed by Homelander as it seems in the video. The calm guy is the comic book version of Madelyn Stilwell with Stan Edgar’s personality. Homelander doesn’t kill him because he didn’t the fun in it since Stilwell seemed to not care. The dude he decapitates is President Victor Neuman. The comic book version of Victoria Neuman.
On the contrary. Madelyn Stillwell is the show's version of this character. And Stan Edgar is the show's version of his personality.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind it, JB Blanc is such a phenomenal Australian voice actor that I think he could really pull of an animated version of Butcher if they ever decided to fully adapt the comics

This plot twist makes absolutely zero sense. You mean to tell me that during their time together, Homelander (who has x-ray vision btw) never bothered to check what Black Noir looked like under the mask? You can even see in the early issues of the comic that BN is around 2-3 inches shorter than HL and much leaner in build. Garth Ennis was clearly tired of writing this nonsense so he pulled this twist out of his ass to wrap up the series.
Can you see face and muscles on an Xray picture? Cause it s not how it works. So neither HL can. It s shown in the comics how HL see another person with Xray : Skull and bones.
As for BN. It s not improvised. As Batman is the anti-superman, BN is the anti-HL and you have clues before the twist which make it pretty good actually, because it changes completly what you though was happening during the whole story.
During the whole story,the boys werent preventing HL to snap or lash out, they unintentionally provoked it, which turned things to sh*t. HL was a prick, but not a sociopath. He was pushed to madness by the so-called "good guys".

FTL speed, lasers strong enough to rip himself and his clone apart despite durability enough to eat tsar bombs, enough strength to hold up 6k ton bridges one handed effortlessly, and a sonic scream that can make people's heads burst.
His strength and speed and durability is already overkill, but adding Venom's heat susceptibility and extreme weakness to sound just makes it a total mismatch. Homelander is like kryptonite to him, except the kryptonite is also already capable of wrecking him effortlessly even without the weakening properties.

Home lander was always a piece of shit. He did bad stuff. But he wouldn’t have ever tried to take over the world on his own. He freaks out when he sees the pics cuz he thinks he just blacks out and did it at some point. Cuz he wouldn’t do things that fucked up. Then butcher gets the pics and releases them, so homelander is like, “welp I’ll lose everything anyways” might as well take over the world because I can. But yeah, the pictures majorly freak him out. And the boys releasing them means his life is over. So it pushed him to do this.

@@Ember2168 Also important note, from what I understand (and tbh I may be wrong) but noir was a clone made as a contingency plan against homelander incase he ever went rouge which was the clones only purpose. But since it was such a long time were noir was essentially just doing nothing while waiting to serve his only purpose, he went insane and did all the stuff that he took pictures of.
The most brutal but well deserved execution in comic history. This story was dark. It gets worse after this but eventually gets better.

Notice that there is almost no one in The Boys comics who can be defined as "heroic", and the few who try to be are treated as weak fools who's only job is getting offed by other characters. And that's not only in The Boys, you can see this with pretty much every comic from this author. Like he is litterally real life Lex Luthor, he hates metahumans and is obsessed with the idea of them getting beaten by normal people in edgy ways. Mostly in that he appears to be stronger and more durable than homelander since we saw how he one shot his jaw off. But that never happened, for years even since we all know the seven don't really go on missions, just publicity. So, as a result, black noir goes insane, and like any insane person, he tries to shape the reality he's in to his desire. And so he disguises as homelander as he explained and performed gruesome acts like raping and killing Billy's wife. He would then send these pictures to the boys to send to homelander which would then drive homelander to the moment you see.
