Nuclear Weapons Convoy March 2014

- All the elements of the convoy taking refurbished Trident Nuclear Weapons up to the Scottish base. Not a current convoy, this was from March 2014, but shows what it consists of.....from the actual armored trucks with the weapons with their own military support vans, to the spare tractor unit and breakdown truck. Plenty of police and even a fire truck, also a truck & trailer decontamination unit. An interesting video for those of you who didn't know this went on......on a regular basis! Video shot on the A1M North, a few miles before the Washington services. Look up these convoys on Wikipedia for a full explanation of how it all works.
Looks like the algorithm is bringing us together again
Those trucks are beasts
Beasts they are!! And (don't know if it is clear on the video) the bullet proof glass is seriously thick!!
Keep it up! Looking forward for more videos from you, don't stop!
Imagine pulling onto the on ramp seeing that coming.
0:41 anyone else noticed the motorway sign stuck to the front of the wrecker
Ha..................you had me there......I had to go & check first......!!!!! 10/10 for observation though!!
I was in a nuclear weapon s unit in Germany in the late 60's and early 70's. I was on a lot of convoys carrying nuclear weapons. Lots of armed troops and choppers, during the cold war
Did you have any trouble with any "Ban The Bomb" protesters in Germany on your convoys? They are still happening to convoys in the UK now and then.
@@larrywardell2459 no, the locals did not know what we were carrying.
all movements in Germany were done by Copters
A device may be detected with scanners set to listen for the song "waltzing mathilda" which must played on the transport vehicle.
Nice content!
Fuck off
Wtf
In convoy you see more these type of truks 03:37. But only 1 of them loaded with an actual NUKE.
I think they all have refurbished warheads on board.............
@@larrywardell2459 might be that only one or two of them have weapons on board and any others are just decoys
Used to bring them up the A68 when i was a kid they weren't a rarity but were on open wagons so you could see the missile until some shi@ouse moved in and started complaining.
Crazy to think those are actual nuclear weapons in those trucks
Just had a quick check to see if these convoys are still operating (especially at the moment). Looks like they are, as the "Nukewatch UK" Facebook page has a post from yesterday (12h May 2020) about a convoy leaving Reading. Obvious I suppose, as the UK's Nuclear Weapons Stock still needs refurbishing on a regular basis, as the Countries "deterrent" still has to be managed whatever else is going on (like it or not, unfortunately). Thanks for the comment!
Warheads. Not the whole missile. And of course, there might not be warheads in those trucks.
@@mrjcfpants yea i actually heard somewhere that the real thing is carried in one of the vehicles you’d least suspect, so those big trucks may really just be decoys
@@jaeson4524 probably one of the swat vehicles
@@jaeson4524 yes rumours are spread about that, but remember it's nuclear, it wouldn't just be lying around in the back of one of the more regular vehicles
Up past woodhall services. Wounder where those lot were heading 🙂
I know.......
Chester-le-Street exit sign? A1 on way to Newcastle - you must be holding your A-Z upside down 😏
Love Fearless in the background 😂 Taylor Swift is the best 😊
Original album.......but is the "revised" one better or worse??
I love how there's a taylor swift song playing in the background
Swifty fan :)
Even the people that transport nuclear stuff don't keep 2 chevrons apart.
How do you know what that convoy was carrying? I assume that in England, like the US, such information would be classified!
Well, not classified as such. These convoys must still conform to UK health and safety rules, traffic laws etc etc and their routes and timings agreed with local authorities. The convoys happen regularly so they're no secret, but are well protected as you can see!!
That does NOT mean they are carrying anything that is classified. Course, it does not mean they aren’t. Back when I was in the Navy no one was told what we were moving. Some of what I carried was very classified I suspect. The thing is, even I was not told exactly what was in those containers. On the other hand, it was a bit difficult to cover 2 1,000 pound bombs on a low boy trailer. 😳
In the US you would never know that a truck had it on board. They look just like any other truck.
@@JimRedHawk You're quite correct. Technically, nobody (apart from a few) know what is being carried, if anything is being carried.
@@larrywardell2459 Also Larry, to clarify - yes, routes and timings are agreed with local authorities, but that information is classified to a degree and will be codified and on a need to know basis. Also, each local authority/civpol only knows the route in its own area - the whole route and timings is absolutely classified to a high level and known to a few on a need to know basis.
This would probably standard cruise missiles, not nuclear. UK has a limited number of nuclear weapons, they're carried on 4 submarines, very rarely offloaded and would be stored at Faslane, not transported round the country. Clickbait title, as this convoy would be carrying the UKs complete nuclear arsenal if it was nuclear weapons
Convoy is returning home empty
Wonder what they'd do if they come across a just stop oil protest 🤣
As there are armed Military personnel and Police in the convoy, and it’s to do with the nations nuclear defence systems, I doubt they would receive the same tolerance as on the M25 or in London. I imagine the Stop Oil protestors know that too………..
Wonder ehat would happen if some wanted to pull off trying to get through all that. Probably think your a terrorist pullin in front and slowing down. And the nuclear stuff has its own police and they armed image a family of five on their way to visit granny shot cos they wanted to pull of the motorway
Taylor Swift!?!?!?
Correct! 10 Points!! Always have the Fearless album in the car ..........Old car (2005) so only a CD player in there!!
I was a US Marine Security forces member. In the US you would never know that a truck has nuclear material in it. They look just like any other truck on the road and is secretly heavily guarded by what means I can not say. You would not have any chance in successfully attacking these trucks. It would be the last thing that you ever did.
Thanks for the comment! These convoys are still going on, but as each one of the armoured support vans have a squad of armed military inside, I suppose the idea is that to mount any sort of attack would be just a waste of time, so make the convoy & protection as obvious as possible. They do get held up by protestors from time to time, but nothing that the normal Police can't deal with......I think there are other videos on YT that show some of these rather "tame" efforts to stop the convoys!
You are correct, I hauled several loads like that. Even I didn't know what was following my trucks movements
Technically nobody does know that a certain truck has material in it. That aside, it's the same in the UK, no one knows what they carry, but if you track where they start and finish, you can make a reasonable assumption.
Something tells me this isn't the first time you've told someone you were a Marine
@@everything777 Whatever that’s supposed to mean.
I feel like this video was just a ploy to get me to listen to Taylor Swift 🤔🤔🤔
Success !!
Zzzz….
Police osu van should pull itself over for the near undertake, illegal in the UK, dangerous driving.
Technically correct.........but I though I'd just leave it.......this time! Techically (also) I was probably beaking the law just filming them at all!!
@@larrywardell2459 that's probably a good point but I guess as it was a dashcam they can't really do anything
One mistake and boom everyone dies
They’re not that volatile.
Nope. It's impossible for that to happen on the road.
Go and study year 10 physics and chemistry, the biggest threats are from lentil eaters.
If it is warhead it's safe and would never go off unless activated.
One mistake and your new assignment is patrolling snow drifts in the Falklands
