- Mega Rare Opportunity Strikes once again
Royal Air Force - Ministry Of Defence Weapons Convoy Coming Through Rosyth today - Seen On Admiralty Road in Rosyth - Ministry Of Defence Protective Escort Vehicles along with Recovery truck support truck and 2 big Irizar I6 Coaches - on there way Up To Leuchars Seen On Admiralty Road in Rosyth - that’s twice I’ve seen this convoy now they stopped off in Crombie on a 45 minutes break. This was great seeing this massive convoy again - very rare opportunity this time police are on lights and sirens aswell. Renault Midlum Protective Escort Vehicles along with MOD Police Land Rover Discovery Armed response vehicles. All seen in convoy - not bad for my mums camera skills she was the one that videoed for me whilst I took the pictures.
Whenever I see these convoys it always surprises me that the cameraman knows when they will be coming through. Isn’t that a basic security risk?

Looks like command and control units and poss radar for UAV's, this isn't a Nuke convoy as there's no Defence Fire Service vehicle.
As stated elsewhere, UAVs Nuclear warheads and rods are transported with a fire engine in attendance. (yeah, I know, like keeping in the wind).

DAF are part of PACCAR, which also owns Leyland Trucks, the Army used to use Leyland trucks, in 1987, DAF bought 60% share in Leyland becoming Leyland DAF, Leyland DAF were bought by a management buyout in 1993, acquired by PACCAR in 1998 and all trucks are now branded as DAF (also owned by PACCAR). All DAF LFs are designed and built by Leyland Trucks, Leyland, all RHD CF/XF models are also built by Leyland Trucks. Basically, RHD built DAF trucks are British....

No motorbikes to keep the roundabout flowing and to guard the tail. You see the convoy slows down to a halt even
Yeah, splitting the convoy seems like a big no-no, to me, yiu would have expected the advance vehicles to have completely shut down own that roundabout until the rear most elements had passed.
That's because it's not nuclear weapons for once.

Whats the reason for the coaches?
Civilian coaches are used to transport military personal between bases. Given that this is near a RN base it's probably equipment that will be transported overseas to another base and the crew that will be doing it along with specialists who know the equipment heading to the base.
The Civilian Coaches will be part of the convoy and will have either Military/Civilian support or MDP officers onboard.
They tend to be tail end Charlie’s along with the Recovery Wagon and Spare Artic Unit.

Combined military unit. Army/RAF.
Leuchars became an army base and called Leuchars Station in 2015 when the Army moved troops back from Germany. The QRA that was stationed there was moved to Lossiemouth. I am guessing due to cuts in funding. There is still a runway there and it is routinely used by the P8's and Typhoons to practice aborted landings.

Useless convoy drill, the convoy should have been kept together with no civilian vehicles in between by blocking off junctions and roundabouts.

Not good drills. Someone should have challenged the cameraman. In this day of live streaming attacks. Anyone taking interest should be looked into. All asleep on the coaches etc. Yanks would have had double the manpower and vehicles and loads of aircraft and heli top cover. Brits. As usual on a budget. ❤
