Thanks for sharing. I will definitely have it try.
This is better than ther purchased stuff that came with my airbrush kit. I had such a hard time getting A.Mig One-Shot primer off my airbrush - but this did the trick! So thanks
Very good demo, useful tip, thanks you for sharing.
BR from 🇨🇵
Thanks for the tip, mate!
Happy to help!! :)
New to airbrushing and this was a great DIY brush cleaner guide. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching! :)
Questions can I use regular water
CLEAN. How's that? Thanks for the instructions on the cleaning fluid. 👍
Perfect!!! You're welcome! :)
Nice tips ❤️❤️❤️🙏
clean! nice videos.
Yay!! Thank you! :)
Ammonia cleaning products are known to eat through chrome plating on airbrushes... might be worth mentioning that in a pinned comment in case you unintentionally cause many users to damage their nice shiny products.
Thanks for the heads up, that's a good idea.
@@CosplayApprentice So pin the damn comment. Ammonia is NOT something you want inside your airbrush.
As a beginner - thx for that and the thinner.
So glad it was helpful!! Keep crafting!! :)
Was looking at my supply of Amazon Vallejo Airbrush cleaner and how little liquid you get for such a high price. Did some googling and found this video. Just walked around my house, happened to have plenty of every ingredient needed and scaled the recipe to 500ml since that is the only size of empty re usable bottle I could find. God bless you my friend. I ordered another bottle of flow improver... now if only I can find a DIY recipe for that... I have a large jug of Floetrol. But I'm not sure if it's the same thing, I believe it to be similar so I use it to lessen my use of expensive branded airbrush flow improver that won't eat at the gaskets etc etc.
Yay!! So glad it was helpful!! :)
@@CosplayApprentice Thank you. Now I can spend more on paints and the real supplies for my projects. I have been googling and searching youtube for various mixes for flow improver, and simple dilute with a bit of lubrication via Floetrol, a bit of Vallejo flow improver, and even podge modge matte in various mixes with alcohol and water to extend the drying time and consistency so the piece can be worked more and better. I am diving in head first. I am huge on DIY... And saving money. I am working on a simple dilution mix now. Got the cleaner and a flow improver made up... And embarrassingly a bottle of Vallejo Flow Improver coming from Amazon when I realized I was running low earlier.. That is what got me thinking of how I can cut out those costs... They are literally absurd for what they do. Some swear by their 'secret recipe' but those of us who have ever cleaned a nasty mess know better I guess. My Amazon shopping is done for the month though... I gotta stop using it for Canadian Lockdown Therapy.
Bonjour merci pour votre video. Est ce que du lave glace voiture peut fonctionner aussi merci
I just made a bottle of cleaner and a bottle of thinner and man. This is life changing. I’m very new to airbrushing and the last time I tried it I gave up but I didn’t use the right thinner and then I forgot to clean the airbrush and left for a con. 😂
Can you use ethanol instead of isopropyl?
We can use regular windex right?
clean
Just ordered my first Airbrush! so this poppin up is a nice happy yt algoritme moment. But just as my UK comment friend. In the Netherlands alcohol is pricey.
Haha, yay YT algorithm ;) Dang pricey alcohol :/
I just got mine 4 litres of IPA 99% alcohol at 48$ Singapore dollars. Is this a good deal. becos 1 litre cost 28$ so I might as well buy 4 lures.
I am still looking for an answer how to make DIY cheap acrylic paint glossy.
Nice!!
@@CosplayApprentice I saw yr video on making cheap acrylic paint from cheap brand acrylic paint. But how to make them glossy. after spray on it is matt.
thkx
found them. The ones you have with the red cap, does the nozzle twist to seal for storage?
The cap twists on but the tip of the nozzle only has a little cap for it.
Old 1 lt yoghurt power as a cleaning pot. Cheap and cheerful
How much water do you fill the glass jar? Will it be the level o the black plastic below the filter?
Where are your links for the bottles?
Could you use ethanol instead of isopropyl? I'm thinking Everclear would be cheaper and easier to get right now.
I am not sure, I have not tried it personally, if you try it please let me know if it works. Probably true that isopropyl is hard to come by nowadays. :/
Clean.
Clean
Correction, you do NOT want ammonia in your cleaner.
When I need a little help for my airbrush, I’ll just take the CZcams Express all the way to Cosplay Apprentice Station for all of my airbrushing needs.
How does this solution affect the neoprene and rubber gaskets over time?
I’d guess eventually they would have to be replaced best advice I’ve seen is to take it apart and clean them as best you can along with this process
can I use this for lacquer based paint?
Not sure if it would work for lacquer based paints. I have only used with acrylic.
What kind of airbrush machine are you
Thanks! Great video but I hang up on one thing. 100ml+150ml+50ml= 300ml !? Cant get it in my 250 ml bottle.
Hahaha, yeah, the 250 ml bottles I got have the measurent markings up to 250ml but then there is still about another 50ml before the top of the bottle so that's how I made it work :)
it is the same question I asked grumpy but he never reply
Can I use tap water instead of distilled water ...I don't have that in my country
You can probably use tap water, the distilled water is just to help prevent any hard water residue or clogs that might happen with tap water in different areas. :)
You can use De-ionised water it works the same as distilled water.
Keen
I just use rubbing alcohol which with alot of water
Why do you use windex because of the ammonia inside? I bought ammonia instead. How much should I add to your ingredient in your opinion?
I'm not sure outside of the mixture I mentioned what will work best, I got the formula from the grumpy modeler or something like that.
@@CosplayApprentice there is only ammonia in the pharmacy 250ml with 9.6-9.9% percent how do I do that?
I'm not sure, I haven't played around with a mixture using straight ammonia so I am unsure the proper quantities. I would guess a lot less than what I add of the Windex.
I have 99% isopropyl alcohol. In what proportion should I mix the ingredients?
100ml 99% isopropyl alcohol add 10ml pure water/cold water, you can get 91% isopropyl alcohol.😁
You know that alcohol is really cheap in the states but it’s like liquid gold here in the uk,
Its actually probably cheaper or as cheap ish to use the manufacturers generic stuff this side of the pond, send me few bottles will you 😂😂
Oh yeh.... clean ....thanks bud 👍
Serious, I didn't know there was such a price disparity across the pond for it. Is it because of government regulation or something?
Probably my good man but I don’t really have a clue , more than likely greed bud it’s everywhere 😬
A year ago you could get 5 litres of IPA for about £5, now its about £25 for the same amount. I'd wager its because IPA is a main ingredient in hand sanitiser and the covid has driven the price up.
Where do you buy glycerin?
You can get it at any pharmacy like CVS or Walgreens type of place, or on Amazon or at Walmart too I think.
I just found it at Walmart. By the isopropyl alcohol.
Hello i cannot find 91% isopropyl alcohol what can i use instead thank you
If you can find 70% just use less water in the mixture.
There is no isopropyl in my contry on the normal alcohol 70% can i use it with less water? It is truly urgent
I am not 100% sure on the answer to that. What type of alcohol is the "normal alcohol" you are referring to? Is it IPA? Isoproponal? I think that one main purposes of having the alcohol in it is to help it evaporate quicker so that your paint does take forever to dry/run when thinning your paint and for the cleaner it is to help avoid water sitting and rusting, the alcohol will evaporate and leave less residue
Yes i am refering to the normal alcohol that we use 70% if i want to use can you tell me what the mesurments will be for 250 ml bottle and also if i want to make thinner and for what the thinner is used
I am ussing edible ink for cakes
Any news regarding my last message? Thank you
Good Day. What purpose does the glycerine serve?
Hi :) from what I understand it helps to prevent the airbrush tip from drying out
@@CosplayApprentice Omg I had the same question! Thanks for answering it!
Yay!! Happy to help! :)
@@CosplayApprentice glycerin is a surfactant and helps lower the surface tension of the liquid. This makes it breakdown the paint. Which is the point. It also protects the neoprene seals and or o rings.
Why not use just pure acetone? It attacks(soften) most paints.
Acetone works too well. It will destroy the rubber gaskets and teflon seals. With extended soaking it might affect the finish as well. Definitely do not use!
@@miketorchia8045 yes thats true. It should be used sparingly. I only use it on metal parts and always with a cotton swab.
I just saw another vid that said to not use glass cleaner that has ammonia in it because it is harsh on the airbrush. Who's right?
Iduno if I would trust anyone who is recommending I buy 5 different bottles of ingredients to make a home made airbrush cleaner instead of just buying one bottle of actual airbrush cleaner.
I don't know if there is anything difinitive on that, what I heard is that it may be harder on older airbrushes, but that the newer ones are constructed with different types of o rings that aren't corroded by ammonia and stuff like they were before but I'm not sure what the right but I've been using this mixture in my airbrush. :)
Hahaha, right?!? :) The nice thing is that the five different bottles of ingredients cost less than a 16oz bottle of Iwata airbrush cleaner and you can make both acrylic thinner and cleaner with the many of the same ingredients and it will make probably 4x the amount of cleaner so it works out pretty well :)
I also recall hearing not to use ammonia because over time it damages the o-rings/gaskets.
I’ve been looking at this as well and the claim is that ammonia will react with and tarnish or damage the chrome finish on the airbrush. Car windshield washer fluid has been recommended instead of windex as it contains no ammonia and has the added benefit of a small amount of detergent
And sharpie cleaner.
I’m clean
My 250ml Squeeze Bottle suprisingly only has 250ml , not an extra 50ml for the alcohol. it would be easier to mix, if you would give a recipe for 250ml not for 300ml.
You can just mix it in a bigger bottle or bowl and then pour it into your 250 ml bottle :)
Klin
I Go to a votech in my town and they are making a video Game in one of the other programs there and so they cast me as there villain
That is so cool!!!
Cosplay Apprentice thanks
So do you reallly need glycerin or no?
Yes it both breaks the surface tension so the alcohol and water will mix and helps to not dry out your airbrush tip.
Cosplay Apprentice okay just wondering, thanks!
I shall help boost your channel in the my following comments..because your videos are short, to the point and I appreciate that. Just please stop redoing grumpys info
Thanks!!! Sounds great! I wasn't trying to steal his ideas or anything, I just loved the concoction he made and wanted to share it with others outside the modeling niche too to spread the word, that's why I gave him credit in the video and description and everything. :)
Clean lmao
Your markings result in 125 ml water, not 150
Haha, yeah, the markings end at 125ml but there is still more room in the bottle about 25ml more up to the top of the bottle so my measurements total up to 150mL :) sorry about the confusion. :)
I do not understand. Do not mind explaining. You mentioned 250 ml bottle but 150 ml distill water, 100ml windex and 50 ml iPad that is already 300ml exceeded yr 250ml bottle. 15 drops of glycerin is negligible
Haha, sorry about the confusion on that. I probably didn't show it super well in the video but the bottle has mL labels on it on the side that go up the bottle, but those markings stop at 250mL about 1 inch from the top of the bottle, so there is around an extra 50mL left at the top of the bottle and that's where the last "50mL" fits in, basically just fill it the rest of the way up to the neck of the bottle with the 50mL ingredient :). Hope that helps clear it up :). Thanks for watching and asking that question, I bet a lot of people where wondering the same thing. :)
@@CosplayApprentice Thank you very much for the reply.
Sure thing! :)
Please correct me if my math is incorrect...150ml distilled h2o....50 ml alcohol.....100 ml windex.= 300ml into a 250 ml bottle
Um No! I did this before. Horrible idea! Do not do it!
Why is that? What happened?
