I have noticed that a lot of people who are not quite so experienced with after effects are a bit lost so I am considering to do a remake of this tutorial in a more of a step by step process to explain all the details. If this comment gets 10+ likes I will write this tutorial on my do list. Also be sure to comment all the steps you are having trouble or You lose me at..... making that tear drop mask .Dude, you are really good, especially for a young guy. You definitely have a career ahead of you doing this stuff if you want, you're a natural. Look forward to watching you get even better. Keep it up! One of the most creative and clever uses of fractal noise I've ever seen! Very very impressive. I love you for sharing the project file :D You saved me a ton of time. Thank you so much

Okay thanks for the input. Draw it with the pen tool. And with the pen tool you can click and drag to form a tangent line. Hold ALT - or OPTION on mac - to beak the tangent line.
now that is what I call a good tutorial. someone who knows his stuff and explains it in the least amount of time possible without any understanding issues. awesome job
Dude, you are really good, especially for a young guy. You definitely have a career ahead of you doing this stuff if you want, you're a natural. Look forward to watching you get even better. Keep it up!
Although it's not a step by step tutorial, but it still easy to understand the idea and the logic of making the effects by your explanation and the results of comparison before the 10:08.When it comes to the fire work area part,it's so fast and having so much layers that I can't not understand how to do it and don't know why I should do these steps. Those steps are essential to make the effects more real,so please, pay more attentions on explaining this part.Hearing you prepare to remake this tutorial is really like a big gift to me.And by the way,I am searching the after effects tutorial of making ghost rider's firing-skull head,so I'm trying to use your tutorial to make it.
Wow, I would consider myself extremely advanced in After Effects and Cinema 4D and came here looking for an alternative to my current 3d Fire to make it easier on my render. But holy shit dude you already taught me like 3 new things in the first few minutes of this video that are going to make life so much easier lmao. Great tutorial my dude!
Loving Your complex/complete approach to the subject. It really is the best After Effects fire I've seen, by far. Thank You very much for this (and also other) tutorial.
One of the most difficult tutorials to follow. I got half way and had no idea where he was going with it. I think I'll just work it out myself. Thanks for the effort though.
So F..kin Cool. Had no idea this would be possible from scratch. Kinda fast for beginner but deff worth watching over n over n like he said, so much reusable stuff. Really mind blowing, n blew through it like he was tying his shoes. I thought Maya or Max type programs were only options.
Probably because he's using After Effects CC. This option he mentions isn't in older versions like CS6 or 5.5, but it can still be done, it'll just take a bit more work.
great info and use of native tools; you do go a bit fast and at points it seems your initial novel steps (like multi masking) are readily understood as you zoom through them.
*looks up a tutorial on how to make a flame* oh this one seems good Visonary Fire: this is the start of the tutorial video so you must already know how to make a flame shape, mask it, feather it, make it look how its fading at the top, etc. -_- thnx dude...
Thank you for your amazing work ! All is ok for me with until 5'35 I don't get what the gray layer is is it the previous (layer 2 white) that you've duplicated or something else ? it's not that clear for me
Your tut is good as an intro. Learned some things here. But just a hint: do not slash or expose other's work, as you did at the beginning. After all, you are also using third-part plug-ins... ;-)
I have a challenge for you. Since you did an AMAZING job at making a simple flame.... Can you make a full-on flamethrower effect like the one shown in Suicide Squad with El Diablos fire powers?
I will put in on my do list. But hey, check out these flame throwers you can download for free here on my channel. czcams.com/video/KNb3q-hXt68/video.html
Hi could you help me, how scripting the flame direction to right to left? And then I progress the fractal on layer there is on my whole flame (mask) not only in the end like yours, why? please help
Hi i have two questions. Can you make a video where you explain how you make the Matte with the different Masks ? I would be very happy. my second question is when i dobble klick on kurves it diden´t appear the compositing option. what should i do ?
Hey, so I thought I followed every step to make my fire effect, only to get an expression error from the offset from my turbulence when connecting it. Something about error line 1 of layer 2, and syntax error: unexpected identifier.
Mate, I tried to Like your comment about help, But Googles invasion of YoutTube is messing with me (I click like and it wants me to retype password then goes on a spiel about crap). All that aside, love this tutorial and the speed in which you do it. Just unfamiliar with how you composed MIR into the effect still getting my head around some of the finer points, would love ya explanation of this aspect.
Had a good laugh watching this. Great video - can't wait to see more. If you can spend a bit more time explaining the setups in a bit more detail that would be perfect. I got lost a few times as you skimmed over things. Subbed!
Tileable flame (or any techniques would be hugely helpful for me. I created one, but a lot of the techniques you use here don't work quite as well. A lot of the masks you use make it impossible to tile and when I'm modeling, a candle flame won't work nearly as well when I'm making a fireball mesh that's cylindrical. Wondering if you have any ideas how to approach that instead or if you would be interested in taking on the challenge. Your vids have been extremely helpful. Thank you very much for your time!
If you don't have mir, taking a fractal noise, animating it the same way he did, than applying a glass warp with a negative sharpness value will create the same effect
Actually, could you do a tutorial on how to make like a box burn or something? Your candle flame looks great, but I really want to apply it to a bigger object with more flames - or is it just pretty much the same concept?
ooo yeah that'd be awesome! applying your procedurally generated flames to different areas / objects or even text would be super cool. also animating it so it flares into existence before burning constantly / extinguishing would be sweet :)
lendon, really good tutorial definitely should make a step by step, maybe even do a mini series on fires and smoke with step by step for idiots like me. unfortunately I only have cs6 before cc came out, can you also include the tear drop set up?

Visionary Universe i can't find the candle light shaped mask and I have trouble with the displacement map...
Okay thanks for the input. Draw it with the pen tool. And with the pen tool you can click and drag to form a tangent line. Hold ALT - or OPTION on mac - to beak the tangent line.
10 likes already so if you guys could submit your questions and requests I will begin the tutorial.
In the tutorial you should add how to animate it in a moving torch or something
Yep I have been thinking about that lately.
now that is what I call a good tutorial. someone who knows his stuff and explains it in the least amount of time possible without any understanding issues.
awesome job
One of the most creative and clever uses of fractal noise I've ever seen! Very very impressive
Thanks! I also have an updated fire simulation tutorial here on this channel! :) :) :)
Visionary Universe I'll have to check it out!
Dude, you are really good, especially for a young guy. You definitely have a career ahead of you doing this stuff if you want, you're a natural. Look forward to watching you get even better. Keep it up!
this is next level. love the attention to detail. feel like displacement maps never get the love that they deserve.
This is a great tutorial. As an advanced user, I really appreciate how you keep it moving, and don't dwell on the minutia. Subscribed.
He has several fire tutorials, but I think this is the best n most realistic.

*type google at the search*
so much cringe
I do the same thing. Who cares?
yea me too
@@BenPierce. same
i think it was meant as a kind of visualization for the audience ;)
Awesome! One of the best Fire Simulations I've ever seen.

Cool tutorial, but, if you move it, will leave a trail?
One of the most difficult tutorials to follow. I got half way and had no idea where he was going with it. I think I'll just work it out myself. Thanks for the effort though.
definitely the nicest after effects realistic fire around. i think it'd look even better if the loop was done without the crossfade though.
Please do more videos dude🥰😘....
you can't start a tutorial with stuff already done in the file. how do you get the that point!
So F..kin Cool. Had no idea this would be possible from scratch. Kinda fast for beginner but deff worth watching over n over n like he said, so much reusable stuff. Really mind blowing, n blew through it like he was tying his shoes. I thought Maya or Max type programs were only options.
Thanks Jim! If it fits your goals jump in my new After Effects course for more updated stuff. VisionaryFire.com/aftereffectsaccelerator
Great tutorial and thanks for the project files
Nicely done my man! That's easily the coolest, most realistic fire I've seen in AE without a 3rd party involved!
Apart from Trapcode Mir, VCP Optical Flares and Trapcode Particular...
Wow, you really nailed fire FX. Thanks for sharing this info with the After Effects community. Very helpful.
ASTONISHING job man, really great. You really know how to put your hands on AE! Thanks!
You're not doing a tutorial on how to create this, you're doing a tutorial on how to use and edit your project file.
You lose me at..... making that tear drop mask. :/
Probably because he's using After Effects CC. This option he mentions isn't in older versions like CS6 or 5.5, but it can still be done, it'll just take a bit more work.
You're not the only one. I find myself checking out his videos and then not being able to follow along.
Wren just made a secret cameo ;)
Brilliant tutorial, best I've seen in ages for AE. Thanks!!
Thanks back to you. New and improved episode coming up for this effect so keep an eye out the next few days. :)
Amazing total tutorial thank you
That looks INCREDIBLY GOOD!
Omg the last airbender
You're a freakin genius dude
Thanks for the compliment!
You sir are a genius.
that looks good
great info and use of native tools;
you do go a bit fast and at points it seems your initial novel steps (like multi masking) are readily understood as you zoom through them.
You sir, have earned a subscriber and a fan
Thank you sir! I hope you find my other videos to be helpful!
*looks up a tutorial on how to make a flame* oh this one seems good

Wonderful.. Best Quality. Thanks a LOT!!!
Thank you for your amazing work !
All is ok for me with until 5'35

Thank you, James Franco
Hah thanks back to you.
man you very good i am from china i hope you can always make good vfx for people thank you vary much
Hey, greetings from America! Glad you are learning some cool stuff here!
yep man
best after effects fire simulation dude!!!
Awesome dude! i look so realistic. Best fire i have ever seen in after effect :). Keep up the good work
"Nothing in After Effects is going to look a 100% real"...shows a pretty damn impressive 100% real fire. Ha! Outstanding.
Symon hey if you like after effects stuffs then check this out czcams.com/video/bIb6v0ups0A/video.html cool and easy tutorial 😊😊
Pretty cool.....cool
Simple y efectivo. Muchas gracias
Your tut is good as an intro. Learned some things here. But just a hint: do not slash or expose other's work, as you did at the beginning. After all, you are also using third-part plug-ins... ;-)
Excellent work man! Some clever stuff in there.
It is very cool! Thank you, I will definitely learn how to make such a fire!
Reallly good tutorial! Dig the way you make tutorials, straight to the point no bs, keep up the good work! :D
Appreciate that for sure. You be sure to let me know if you have any questions!
Earned a sub from me! Glad your going to be going back and creating more detailed tutorials of videos like this for more novice level AE users!
Hey no problem. Thanks!
Damn bro, it's so difficult but really amazing
brilliant tutorial
Thanks!

Amazing work man! :) Really nice commentary! :D
This is just straight up awesome :D love your work!
Thank you! So glad you think so. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions on this video or any other. I love answering questions!
Hi i have two questions. Can you make a video where you explain how you make the Matte with the different Masks ? I would be very happy. my second question is when i dobble klick on kurves it diden´t appear the compositing option. what should i do ?
Great job!
Thanks!
Got stuck on the displacement mapping. I just end up with the displaced fractal noise behind the flame.
nice tutorial,THANKS
Could you do this in HitFilm Express? Sorry, I'm too lazy to watch the whole thing but so far it looks possible.
Thx for sharing project file!
will the flame react to movement?
Thank you so much
How can I add it on fire flame in other picture ?
my fire doesn't come out like urs, I feel like I'm missing steps but watch this video over ten times already... pretty frustrating
Sorry it's not working out. Try downloading the project file.

who is that black circle in the center of the simulation?
Great job bro :)
can you make this effect follow a path by any chance so it looks like its moving in a scene
You're so amazing. Love your work!!!
Thanks a lot men.
Appreciate you watching my videos man!
If you don't have mir, taking a fractal noise, animating it the same way he did, than applying a glass warp with a negative sharpness value will create the same effect
very nice!!!!
Start from scratch an explain everything and why you do it. Its great fire tutorial. But people beginning need to know how you got there.
THANK YOU
Actually, could you do a tutorial on how to make like a box burn or something? Your candle flame looks great, but I really want to apply it to a bigger object with more flames - or is it just pretty much the same concept?
Oh yes of course. It is the same concept for me but I can a tutorial for it if you would like me to.
ooo yeah that'd be awesome! applying your procedurally generated flames to different areas / objects or even text would be super cool. also animating it so it flares into existence before burning constantly / extinguishing would be sweet :)
just awesome
Anybody know what kind shape of the 4-7 masks?
You're bad ass man!
how can we use it as an alpha layer for using in an environment. i really have a big problem with the black BG.
Google search "after effects screen blending mode"
can you please do a fire spin tutorial??? i haven't seen one anywhere
It says I'm missing some effects, such as Mir, Optical Flares, Particulates and another. Do you have any idea where I can get these?
you are the best!!
Back to you!
the best!!!
Good tutorial
But,how did you get that fractal noise just at the tip?
lendon, really good tutorial definitely should make a step by step, maybe even do a mini series on fires and smoke with step by step for idiots like me.
unfortunately I only have cs6 before cc came out, can you also include the tear drop set up?
I gotcha. Hopefully I will be doing this soon!
Bro! you are fucking NEXT LEVEL!!!!!! SUBSCRIBED!!!!
This is not a tutorial, it is a presentation for graduated students!!!
Can you tell me please, How to make sub surface flame matte from the begining of the vidio, btw thx
unreal
