Wow if you guys have not tried Standley's candle cost calculator you have to try it now. No more scrambling your brain trying to figure out numbers you simply type in exactly what you pay for each item and will give you your exact cost. Whether it's 1 candle or 48 candles you can get your cost of goods within a minute. Everything from wholesale to retail. This is an amazing idea thank you so much!
Awesome calculator, thanks!
As a professional UX/UI designer I can suggest a few improvements:
1. "$" units next to "Quantity/Ounces" fields are confusing. Looks like these units can be omitted altogether on the right column
2. Having switches between Imperial/Metric USD/EUR would be a great help for international users (like me ;)
3. Consider adding a bigger vertical margin between groups (section label and fields) otherwise it take time to figure out which labels refer to which group.
4. Consider making a font size for a group label a bit bigger than a label of fields.
One more variable that is potentially missing from the equation cost of dye.
I hope this helps 🙏🏼
Awesome! Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks Standley Handcrafted for ALL you do and share to help us out! Have a Blessed Day!!
Thank you for coming out with this and explaining it. This is definitely a life saver. I love this. Thanx again!
This calculator is EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you 😊
Thank you Stanley for updating this. I have the old version of the calculator and I was going to use it when I saw another video of yours saying you updated it. I just checked it out and it is awesome. I know doing a you tube channel takes a lot of your time with everything else you do. But know it is truly appreciated. I have learned so much about candle making, marketing, cost from watching you and others on you tube
Just starting out making candles and this looks great!! Thank you so much for making it and making it available. Can’t wait to use it, it will be so so helpful!
Thank you so much, this is so much easier then trying to figure it all out.
Thank you!! This made things so much easier for me so when I tell people my prices I can be confident in it being the current pricing
Thank you so much for this! I been struggling trying to figure out how to calculate price per candle and your information is the only one I have came across that is specific! God Bless you ❤
OMG!! I was just making my own spreadsheet and something said check with Standley to see if he has an update! THANK YOU!!!! Time to send in some invoices.
You're the GOAT since day 1 Jeff Standley! Grateful for your growth and continuing to bring us along and helping us grow, too! 🙏🏼🕯
Thank you! I needed this
omg you are awesome! This helped without going crazy trying figure out costs. Thank you so much!
This is genius! Thank you so much!! The numbers of COG were making me nervous to launch my candle line but now i feel so much better
Wow this is an impressive calculator. Thank you. I can finally stop using old fashion pen and paper lol.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!
This is vey good, thank you!
Thank you 🙏
I just used your calculator and it is the best one I have ever used and super easy! I am not the best at math. Thank you for helping us all out 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You’re welcome and I’m glad it worked well for you. 😁
Can you add in a section for taxes paid on the items and factor it into the pricing models? The calculations are a bit skewed since I'm paying taxes on all of the items I use but they arent factored in on each candle to give me an accurate cost of goods sold for each item.
Awesome! For size of candle, should we put the ounces of the fill line or the size of the vessel? Because for my 10 oz vessel I actually use 7.2 oz of wax and 0.43 oz of F.O.
With fragrance oil section, do you calculate all fragrance oil purchased or just one? I hope that makes since.
Hey jeff! really appreciate this video! I think it would be great if you could also do one for wax melts. I use your combination of the 4625 and the igi6006 for my wax melts and figuring out the price of that for some reason just completely freezes my brain up and i want to make sure i am pricing everything as accurately as possible! i can calculate the clamshells, f.o. and everything like that, but when i go to figure out the different weights of the waxes i struggle so bad wrapping my head around the math. Thanks in advance if you can help me out! You've taught me a lot and can't thank you enough
I will absolutely make one for melts. 😃
Hi thanks so much for this .. how can i calculate in £POUNDS
Hey Steve, amazing calculator. I do have a question though. Typically smaller bottles of fragrance oils are sold in milliliters or fluid ounces. Your calculator is using ounces for the fragrance oil and then your fragrance load % is obviously based off of the weight of the wax. So is your calculator using ounces (weight) or fluid ounces (volume)? I tried creating my own calculators on a spreadsheet but my supplier sells their fragrance oils by milliliters making the calculation impossible unless I weigh how many ounces are in each bottle of fragrance oil I buy. Unless your website/supplier is selling fragrance oils by weight rather than volume which would make life so much more simple.
Hello! Can you please help me figure out why my wick is bouncing? I tried shortening it but it continued to bounce intermittently. Thank you!
This is a wonderful tool. Any chance you could include different weight units, such as grams? I’m in Australia and we use grams for unit of weight.
I have a grams version coming soon. 🙂
@@StandleyHandcrafted good to know because I'm in the UK and we also use grams
Hello this was my inquiry also thank you
Hi, I love the new calculator. I use your old one all the time. Would you consider adding an additional blank box for embeds? Ex:flowers, crystals? Thank you again for sharing this with us.
The additional slider can be used for items like that. :)
Hi can this calculator use use for a different currency other than in usd $
This calculator is amazing! Thank you!! I use wooden wicks, can you add a slot for wick clips?
I’ll see what I can do. 🙂
When is the next zoom? Don’t want to miss out
How are you supposed to round your retail cost per candle because I see how a lot of candle makers just have like $25.00 or $15.00. How do I get to that point, how to calculate it that way?
What about labour, gas and electricity or packaging?
Could you please do a video for the footer part of a candle business ( policy, return, ship, ect) for example, for someone that can't afford legal or professional help to be able to do does duties, could you do a breakdown or so.
Please... thank you
Absolutely
I've been in the research phase on and off since 2020, and I'm just now getting back into it the start of this month. I'd love to see the added costs of things such as dyes (such as liquid, like how much it cost per few drops of a 1oz container) insurance and having your own website since those cost money too :) I believe it's roughly $67 a month for insurance. How do we add these in our expenses for a business?
Example being, it takes roughly 3 drops for a lighter shade color in dye. If I have a 1oz container of liquid dye that cost 5.17 for the whole bottle and it takes 3 drops, how much $ am I using per drop of dye type thing.
Would you consider adding packing materials or would that be the shipping cost
That would probably fall under the additional cost slider.
can you add color dye to the calculator and mica powder
There is a slider at the bottom for miscellaneous items like that since they’re so hard to calculate. 🙂
Thanks for this calculator , it's very useful but as I live in Australia it would be great to have and option for grams/kilos if possible? :)
There is one on the website.
Is there a way to add an option for those who make concrete vessels
I’ll have to see what I can come up with for custom vessels like that.
You may want to do the same thing that you did on the wicks for the ounce of fragrance you're using per candle
It does it automatically for you when you enter the percentage below.
what happens if You have 2 different wax that you use on a candle like dessert candles
Add the cost and weight of both waxes and it will calculate.
Hi! How do we enter shipping cost if we use more than one supplier??
You can enter shipping as one lump sum and it splits the cost across all individual pieces since they all add up to the final product together.
My retail price per candle was $315.20 and wholesale $105.07 how do I adjust this for selling candles I need help don't know what to do next? Also, if you are selling your own candles online wouldn't be wholesale and not retail, please help?
For online sales on your website you’d be selling retail.
@@StandleyHandcrafted Ok thank you so how do i adjust the price?
Idk why but when I click on link the calculator doesn’t look anything like what you are showing as it is quite scattered 😞
Are you on desktop or mobile?
Hey Jeff!
Any chance you can add a line or two for miscellaneous stuff?
The new one has a line for it. 😁

@@StandleyHandcrafted I'm not sure I'm seeing it? I would like to have a couple things like wick stickers, or small retail bags and such.
Is this an app where can i get it!!!!
I have the calculator available on my website right here. It works best on desktop, but does work and mobile.

Hi Jeff, how many days does it usually take for a request to be accepted on your facebook group? Thx in advance
One time, just fill out the questions and click join. Facebook does have auto mod though so sometimes it may reject an attmept if someone doesn't have a profile picture or if it's a new account.
@@StandleyHandcrafted try several times, didn‘t work
@@Jogo-designs what is the error it gives you?
@@StandleyHandcrafted something like...request sent, you will be notified once the admins have accepted your request.

Where did the cost calculator go??
It’s still there I just have the site down while we build on it.
The calculator on your site is confusing it’s not like this
www.westsoundcandlesupply.com/pages/cost-calculator
@@StandleyHandcrafted sorry if I was not clear. I mean the calculator on the site is not structured like the one you are using to demonstrate. All the questions on the calculator on the site are underneath each other. Which mean every time you have to input the a figure u have to go back to the top to know which line your on. If I explain it correct.
