Here I share with you my findings and experience with 6 iconic, classic shaped handbags. I have tried to include popular bags such as the Chanel Coco Flap Top Handle, the Saint Laurent YSL Toy LouLou and the mini Lady Dior. But I’ve also included some others from Loewe, Aspinal of London and of course the Louis Vuitton Alma BB.
These are my personal experiences and I wanted to share them as some of you might be able to decide from this what bags you think you could live with, and therefore, you might rule some out etc.

My relationship with small bags:
1) Use them, struggle through the day getting things in and out. Complain non-stop.
2) Change into a bigger bag.
3) Now the bigger bag feels like they weigh a ton and a half. Complain non-stop.
4) Go back to the small bag.
5) Repeat never-ending process.
This is totally me!
And I’d probably add
Big bags: large bulky not so feminine look
Change to small bag
Small and cute, but end up having to carry important papers from work at the end of the day to finish during weekends, struggling to carry them home without damaging them.

I have this issue every time I go out with 2 kids....
Same! I’ve settled on not using anything that’s bigger than my current medium bag so it forces me to clean it out more often 😆... it’s a light bag but feels heavy quickly.

Michele McGlone the strap is detachable and you can switch it out to a metal chain. I love the toy Lou Lou.

One more question...sorry to be such a pest. Since you have a Lady Dior lambskin bag and a YSL bag in a similar leather, would you mind sharing your personal opinion on which leather is a bit more durable? I mean I realize lambskin is more fragile than caviar or patent, but wonder which company works with a stronger leather. Thanks a million.

I was struggling between the toy LouLou and the Alma BB because you have said so many good things about them! I went for the latter at the end, three months later and still very happy with my first luxury bag purchase 😊

I appreciate reviews, because you don't know a bag until you live with it. It is best to learn before you invest if able. Your phone fitting and ease of getting into the bag are top of my requirements for any bag.

hi sophie, I just want you to know thank you for doing that Alma BB video. Because of that, I worked hard and saved up to get mine. I am happy and I enjoy using it till now! It’s a great purse that fit my lifestyle!
Sophie, I agree with you 100%, about included (clip-on) purse straps; almost ALL luxury brands consider them an afterthought. They're either too thin/delicate for the size of the bag (esp. for large bags), ultra-plain/borderline ugly, legitimately poor quality (unsealed edges, paperthin depth, uneven stitching, leather of different quality/grain/dye-lot than bag), or lacking in functionality (e.g. not adjustable, only 2-3 holes for adjustment, etc.). I ALWAYS check the strap with the same rigor I do the bag. I occasionally purchase an additional strap for better functionality, as I'm 5'9"+, & most straps are too short for my liking. Unfortunately, I have also purchased additional straps, b/c the included ones would have been untenable for daily use. I adore large & oversized bags, & sometimes the weight of the EMPTY bag, is enough to make the laughably-narrow strap dig in uncomfortably. It always angers me, when it feels like no one even bothered to try on the bag WITH the strap, before the combination was signed-off...Unless, it's ALL just a nefarious plot, to get us to buy overpriced additional straps w/our bags ;).💋

I’m so in love with the Alba BB in the Damier Ebene. I don’t ever leave home without a bottle of water so it’s a bonus for me too if I can fit one in my bag. I just think that this bag is so great for the money when some of the bags you’re comparing it to are double or more the price. In addition, there’s really no worry about caring for it as it’s the coated canvas. That’s it I’m buying it!😊❤️

You really don’t know until you’ve lived with a bag so true!! I’m here for the mini lady dior and that would sooo annoy me. I think I’m gonna have to look at the next size up after watching this! ❤️😜
This is a great review and I love the LouLou Toy and the Chanel. What I like about these small bags is that one can put them on the dining table. Also, I have small transparent makeup bags that fit into a small bag and I really prune what I put into a small bag. I also have card holders and change purses that come in handy with a very small bag. Mind you, the Loewe rabbit and the Aspinal (a brand that a lot of people love now) and the Dior one are all too small to be practical.

The chanel one was so satisfying
I suggested to my friend to buy the metal chain from Coach to use with her toy YSL LouLou and she said it really enhanced the look and made the purse look more luxe.
I bought the nicer thicker strap for my Prada top handle. The skinny strap it came with wasn’t proportionate to the weight and size of the bag.
Sometimes it feels these designers really skimp with the strap.
I love love loved this video! Don’t you worry...the Alma BB and Toy Lou Lou are on my list! When talking about getting a good “bang for your buck”, have you ever considered the LV Pochette Felicie (particularly in Epi or Vernis)? I’m really eyeing the Epi version in Rose Ballerine as a spring/wedding attendee bag, plus it comes with two inserts! I’d love to hear your opinion on it. Thanks as always, you’re amazing!
