  • Fostoria, OH has been dubbed by some as 'the railfan capital of Ohio' as three main lines cross at grade, forming the infamous 'Iron Triangle'.
Throughout 2018, I spent at least part of one day each month in Fostoria capturing the action on the CSX Willard, Pemberville and Columbus Sub and the NS Fostoria District. The frequency of trains has drastically changed since the first time I visited over ten years ago, but with the addition of the rail park, it makes railfanning the area feel safer and more comfortable. Lots of foreign road units are seen, as are a few small surprises!
Of note, because I visited town at similar times over the course of the year, many of the same trains are seen, while occasionally some different trains appear. For convenience, at the bottom of this description, I have broken down the video by month, giving a timestamp for each should you wish to watch only a short section.
This was quite a huge undertaking and I do hope you enjoy!

Really awesome video! I remember when Bellevue used to get way more trains yarded but with PSR they have cut down about 20 trains

Fantastic video! I recently watched Herron Rail Videos' "Steam & Diesel on the Nickel Plate Road", with several of the clips featured being filmed in Blair Yard, and other locations in and around Fostoria. It's so interesting to see what it looks like after the steam era, and it's great to see that it still has a very strong rail presence in the area. If I can afford it, I might try to make the trip out there myself someday.

Did you record NKP765's EB trip back? If anyone sees that, please time stamp it for me. There was a guy on a bicycle when 765 came through; just happened to be my room mate.
