NS Pittsburgh Line: Day 1, Heavy Freights & Heritage, Railfanning, Cassandra - Altoona, PA 4/2/22

- Last weekend I ventured out to the Altoona area to meet up with a group of friends to hang out and buff trains for a few days. Saturday April 2nd marked day 1 of the trip, hitting up spots along the scenic East Slope such as Horseshoe Curve, Cresson, Downtown Altoona, Gallitzin, as well as the popular Cassandra Railroad Overlook on the West Slope. A lot of color made its way through on the area on this day in the form of NS 8025 and 8100, multiple BNSF units, and a freshly painted UP SD70M, and the Loram Railgrinder as an added bonus. The footage from this trip will be released as a 3 part series, so stay tuned for more!

Great video I was also there I was the kid at Cresson when that Coal train went through with the SD70Acc 1802. And then I also saw you guys at Cassandra. We went up for my birthday.

Horseshoe curve. Should’ve elaborated a bit more lol.
@@drewjl0 You have to walk up the side of the mountain above the road tunnel on the side that's outside Horseshoe Curve. There's a small trail that takes you up and over the tunnel, but it is very steep.
Ok. How did you get to the trail? Been doing some research and it doesn’t look like you can easily access it. Appreciate the info.
@@drewjl0 It starts right after the tunnel, if you're going towards HSC it's on your left.
SD70ACU.. What is the meaning of "ACU"? - SD means "SpecialDuty", I assume.
They are AC traction and U stands for Upgraded.
