I've had this radio for years now, I don't think I've ever change the batteries in it, though I probably should now that i think about it lol.... Great cheap little radio!
Tip: lift up the external antenna even on AM for better reception (no need to extend it), as it interferes somewhat with the internal AM antenna. Same with the DR920c!
the batteries last forever in this radio . it's my # 1 favorite toy . I listen to mine every night with Bose noise reduction headphones . BUY IT ! great reception and great sound quality .
@@radioboyintj don't we all....I love Coast to Coast, but I miss Art Bell. No offense to George , he's great too. I drove tractor trailer for 20 years . Art, and George were my company for many a night.
FM is bad on mine but AM and shortwave reception is great for the price...plus exceptional battery life and acceptable sound. For $22.00 this radio is 5 stars if you like AM and shortwave.
That's a great little radio there. Performs quite well. Owning only two Zenith Trans-Oceanic transistor models it's mind boggling how small this radio is and how far technology has progressed.
alfredolunafoto both of mine do quite well. The older one made in 1963 does better on AM and Short Wave while the one made in 1970 does better on FM. I usually dial around the SW band overnight and just use the antenna supplied with the radio. I’m sure an external antenna would pull in even more stations. I’ve never owned any “newer” multi band radios so I can’t vouch for them but there are some good ones out there. The good thing with the old Transoceanic radios is they have a nice large speaker and good sound and tone quality.
Hello! Congratulations for the video! In your opinion what is the best Tecsun model for MW, this R9012 or R909? For me the important is MW. Thank you so much! Best regards!
One is coming to testing. Most of reviews are positive in SW and MW. FM not so, but I have no special interest in that band, so I hope it performs as well as R-909. Thanks for sharing
The radio geek my hobbys are painting pictures and lisining to shortwave and ssb iam thinking about getting my ham license I have 4 shortwave receivers
The R9012 is a good performer on both SW and AM bands. I don’t have a R909 but can say the R9012 is very good for the price. Good luck to you on your search for a radio. 👍
Hey, Can we charge rechargeable batteries via dc adaptor in this radio? In what other models of Tecsun we can use rechargeable batteries or have bl5c battery? Thanks in advance.
No you can’t recharge the batteries via DC adaptor. This radio runs on AA batteries. You could use rechargeable batteries in the radio but would need to use an external charger for the batteries.
@@TheRadiogeek Can you pls provide me the list of Tecsun radios which can charge the rechargeable batterues? I need to buy one and I am struggling from so many days. Thank you so much for your reply. appreciated
@@navidansari1895 The Tecsun PL-330 has the ability to charge rechargeable batteries. Just make sure you don't have regular alkaline batteries installed when using the AC adapter.
I had a Sangean analog AM/FM/Shortwave radio that I bought in 1994 that was still working when it was stolen about 4 years ago. I`m trying to buy several analog radios while they`re still around. I got this Tecsun and a Sony ICF-P26 and P36 so far. I love them. As you probably know 99% of the so-called "analog" radios sold on Amazon and elsewhere use DSP chips which makes tuning and listening to both shortwave and MW (AM) very frustrating. Finding REAL analog radios isn`t easy. And even rechargeable batteries seem to last a month in my analog Tecsun and Sony radios even with heavy daily usage. Oddly enough I find myself using them much more often than my more expensive digital radios because I mostly listen to the AM band and they`re great for that. The Tecsun R9012 is just as sensitive on the shortwave and AM bands as my $50.00 and $100.00 digital receivers.

I will have to give that a try. Thanks 👍
Great review, I love my R9012 also. It just may be the best $20 a person can spend that loves radio.

Tecsun radios are really good ... chinese technology is improving 😸
It's a nice little radio but I do wonder if it will still work 10 or 20 years from now. You can get radio from the 60s and it will play today.

The R9012 will probably outlast its digital counterparts. Analog is the way to go.
