The fact that you explained it so simple tells me you know what you are doing like they say if you can't explain simply then you don't know what you are doing
You should make a tutorial on making tutorials. Best how-to video I've seen. Thanks!
That's a big reason as to why I started making tutorials, because all the other ones consisted of somebody's phone in their mouth 😂
Great detailed tutorial, the music kind of felt like I was on hold for the doctor's office though... 🤷🏻♀️ Try something more, peppy 😂
Thank you so much for creating this video - helped me out tremendously today during my K&N install process on my 2016 Corolla S! Straight forward directions and easy-to-understand commentary. You're the best!
Have you had any sensors pop up? After you installed it?
@@joshhhuuaa9167 Nope! Everything is still smooth as silk 4 months later... no MAF sensor errors, no warning lights, etc. Very happy with the install still.
does it make a difference?
@@LarryHAboveRHeads absolutely makes a difference. Way more pull from both low through high RPMs. I have a 6 speed so that makes the biggest difference IMO.
Why is this video so soothing?
I figured that if you end up looking for a video tutorial on how to install this, then you're likely stumped and frustrated, and I wanted to make sure that it was nice to watch 😂 parts of this install frustrated me and I wanted to make sure that people watching this didn't suffer the same fate
Where's Garaa
I just did it it sounds good and the car is more responsive
Great to know a recent person who watched and did this. Now I'm excited to do mine.
Hi Kevin! Thank you for including my music in your cool video here. I’m honored and really enjoyed it.❤️
Absolutely! It was the exact vibe I was looking for, thank you for making it accessible! Artists like you are a big part of my channel and I really appreciate the work that y'all do, and I always try to give credit!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I watched it over and over many times before it came in. I literally just put it on and it sounds so BEAST!
Did you have an issue with your check-engine light after install? Or any other light for that matter? Thanks,
So surprised how much better it sounds
Hi sir, I just wanted to show my respect and appreciate the effort you have taken to create this video everything was organised and perfect👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thank you! That means a lot! 😁
Thanks for sharing this! I just ordered a HPS Short Ram Intake with a K&N filter, for my 2014 Corolla S. I was curious about how to go about installing it once it arrives. Thanks to your video, I have an idea how to go about it. Super excited to get mine installed after hearing how beefy it made your engine sound.
Hello, did you have to tune your car?
Awesome sounds much nicer. Can’t wait to put mines in. Thanks for the tutorial well done.
frankie alers thanks so much!
Just got my first car, a 2020 Corolla LE and I can’t wait to put a CAI in it!!
Makes a nice deeper sound. COOL.
It's incredibly noticeable when you're driving 👍
@@KJs_Garage I just hope it don't get annoying while driving over a long distance.
Well, incredibly noticeable when you floor it I should say. I drive 300 miles a day and it's not noticable unless you want it to be lol
I finally installed my Typhoon intake on my 2013 Corolla yesterday. The washers and nut for the brackets on the underside of the shield cover were a pain in the ass! I ended up dabbing a tiny drop of crazy glue for the large washers on the underside of the shield to hold it in place, as well as doing the same thing for the washer and nut the mounted the shield onto the bracket. Also, I found that removing the battery entirely freed up a lot of space to to screw in the bolt that mounts the intake tube to the L-shaped bracket. Took me over three hours to do the complete install, although I did stop to do some engine maintenance, as I like to keep my engine bay extremely clean. All-in-all the Typhoon SRI sounds great, but it only gave me an increase of 4 HP (at 5400 RPMs), over the K&N air filter I was originally using, when I dyno'ed it today. However, it is an increase of 7 HP over the original stock OEM air filter. For the $267 I paid for it, the 4 HP gain was not worth the money by itself. But, if you add up the 14 HP I gained by installing a new J2 catback exhaust, I gained 21 HP over the stock so... All those minute gains do add up. Also, so far, no check engine light, though she now idles a little high between 800 to 1000 RPMs instead of the 600 RPMs prior. Although I think that's because the ECU/ECM still needs to learn the new intake.
Bro do you know by any chance how much of hp increase borla s exhaust does? Btw I read your comment, great work!! I’m thinking to get it installed at a repair shop because honestly I can’t work on it for 3 hours straight lol.
Horsepower gains truly varies from vehicle-to-vehicle. If you were to hypothetically install the exact same performance exhaust system on a V8 Hellcat engine vs a four cylinder VTEC engine, you may see 20 to 40 HP gains from the Hellcat vs a 6 to 15 HP gain on the VTEC. You won’t truly know what your car gains until you do a before and after dyno. That’s why aftermarket companies/manufacturers usually don’t state numerical gains in their marketing. While they can guarantee that you’ll get an increase in HP, they just can’t guarantee how much.
Saevurr makes sense. Cheers buddy 🍻
Have you ever have Check Engine Light or Sensor pop up issues since you install the Cool air intake
@@brownuwa3128 I have never, no. Though it possibly could. I would recommend connecting an OBD2 reader and see what codes pop up. It may or may not be air flow related.
Dude love your video very very well explained. Keep it up man 💯❤️
Thanks so much man!
Clear and concise! Almost zen-like! Big thanks.
Bro! Great vid, I just installed mines on my 2014 Corolla & I couldn’t be more satisfied 👌🏽
Enough to keep the motor running. It doesn't really matter as long as the car doesn't go under water.
thanks man.. im not a car guy and bought a 2010 corolla last year .. was curious on filters i should change and was looking for an airfilter housing thing..yet found this unit installed..confused the crap out of me..anyway now i know what this is.
Thank you for sharing this video. Kinda thinking of doing this to my 2015 Corolla S. I like this set up most cuz easier to service or check the filter. The CAI that goes down by wheel well has alot of steps and filter are harder to check. Thank you Sir, more power to you.
The ones that go by the wheel are getting real cold air. These are so close to the engine it’s probably get a lot of hot air. But the convenience of this one is tempting lol
4 years later commenting to this but not only is a short ram intake easy to service but it is also less likely to cause your engine to flood during a storm or driving through flooded areas.
Very thorough video thanks
Why was this video so wholesome LOL
Good vibes are free lol
Nice! Thanks for the tutorial👍
john 619 I'm glad it helped!
nice video, for future installs i would recommend links to buy parts in description.
Christopher Bosworth I'll do that! Thanks!
Muy buena explicacion, excelente
The AEM cold air intake says it adds an extra 6 horsepower, however not really going to notice anything under an extra 20-25.
The K n N sounds much better and you don't have to take half your car apart to install that one.
Plus, cleaning the filter is going to be WAY easier. You don't have to take your wheel or splash guard off to clean the K n N.
I believe you only have to clear them every 10k miles, but with how easy it's going to be, doing it every time you change your oil would be a good idea.
According to k & n's website, if you can see the filter threads then you don't need to clean it
In my experience, that's once every 100,000 miles 😉
I put a k n N air filter in my car. I've cleaned it twice and I've had it 3 years.
No harm in cleaning them when you're literally just washing them off.
Dry it out completely before putting it back on but you're not going to hurt them one bit rinsing it off. Done mine twice and looks exactly the same, just cleaner.
I wouldn't wait 100k miles lol.
I'm just going by what K&Ns website says. the example picture they had was a filter absolutely caked in mud, and they said even that was still okay 😂
Yikes man. Well it's your choice, you did go through all the trouble of putting it in, the stock filters say to be replaced every 10k miles.
I figure washing mine off about once a year wouldn't hurt, but there cleaning recommendations where a ridiculous amount of miles too.
Soothing voice and good vid. Thumbs up
Lol thank you!
Have you ever have Check Engine Light or Sensor pop up issues since you install the Cool air intake
Nice video dude.
AEM & K&N are now together so when I bought this last year it came in an AEM box with a free cleaner sprayer!!! Lol
Anyways I’m getting rid of my car soon so i will be selling mine if anyone is interested.

bro, this vid is so relaxing - why u do this
Thought I would try something new and different lol. When was the last time you watched a relaxing tutorial?
Great video, sound was a little low but great content and narrating
Thank you, I was still learning how to use the software that I used to edit this video, and I didn't learn until after I'd already posted the video how to amplify narration, but rest assured I've got it taken care of now 👍
Great job on the video.
Very well done.
Thank you! I'm looking for another tutorial to do, any suggestions?
@@KJs_Garage I can think of a few.
The horn: 1 single horn is not enough
It needs a pair.
The usb/aux port: The charging speed is super slow, who really uses aux?
Muffler upgraded: I'm considering replacing mine with a borla.
The hood: How about a led light to make seeing the engine compartment easier and at night.
Did you notice any improvements with performance while driving?
Nice. Does it make the aggressive tone at full throttle ?
mas e o sensor que fica em cima do filtro original oque se deve fazer com ele?
I installed mine recently and I’ve been hearing squeaking noises when accelerating/ letting off the gas, it’s only like a quick squeak. The noise is coming from the heat frame vibrating against something I can’t seem to figure out. Anyone else have had this problem but manage to fix it?
Edit:
I have found the part it was rubbing against. It was towards the battery that it was rubbing against some metal parts. Just slid some cushion in between and seems fine
Was going to buy one but k&n stated that it is not legal in california for this model 🤦🏼♂️ let me buy yours 😅
Excelente video... Saludos bro..
Went to the link you provided but k&N shows this doesn’t fit a 2018 corolla . It only goes to the 2016 corollas
It fits I promise lol. No changes were made to the engine
Any suggestions for alignment?
I have Tein S-Tech lowering springs on my Corolla (thinking about BC coil-overs now). Wheel Works told me the back isn't adjustable, it's a single axel. They said it needs Shims in the back, and that they wouldn't do that because it's "risky." Only one Wheel Works in my area said they would do it for 400 dollars because of the labour involved. Sounds rather expensive. It's not terribly off, however; the steering wheel is slightly turned to the left when driving straight quite frequently even after it was aligned.
TheGreatVoid the lowering springs shouldn't have changed your alignment specs at the rear, since it's a torsion beam. I would check everything else to make sure there's no damage to a component. You were likely out of alignment before the lowering springs but didn't notice because the ride height was much taller
Thanks for writing back! Ok, I see that you're saying. I do know the car was sideswiped on the passenger side when it was in the possession of its previous owner. That's probably it then. I have no idea how to determine where or what could be damaged, or even if that's something a mechanic could locate.
Thank you for the video, Not to sound lame considering the title but does k&n sell this compatible with a 2018 corolla SE? I’m thrown because their website doesn’t indicate, however the housing in your corolla seems no different than mine... thank you for input you may have...
Same motor so the same kit is compatible 👍 everything that you see here is the exact same in the SE as it is in the Le
Kevin And His Car thanks man for the prompt reply! Appreciate it.
Boy this sound like This Old House on PBS lol great video tho
The website says that part doesn’t fit on my 2017 Toyota corolla se?
@Kevin And His Car. Have you noticed any problems with the way your car runs since this install?
100k miles with it and no problems so far 👌
Have you ever have Check Engine Light or Sensor pop up issues since you install the Cool air intake
Never had an issue with this intake. Make sure everything is sealed and plugged in properly and you shouldn't have an issue
Excellent, that is precisely the kit I am looking for, unfortunately in Argentina I do not get it. Do you know how I can buy it and have it shipped? good video
I like this
H
I wonder if putting some reflective coating on the outside of the heat shield would help?
You're just chasing horsepower that's not there
Have you noticed an improvement in fuel exchange and speed
Fuel economy is improved and it's likely placebo but throttle response is also improved, but no, you're starting at such a low point to begin with you will not notice a change in speed on a Corolla. If speed is what you're looking for, trade for a faster car. That's my plan
Well drawn out tutorial. Any increase in mpg and or performance?
I got a 2-3mpg increase with the intake, which was the goal, but power wise you won't notice much difference. The car definitely sounds better, however, i'm a huge fan of that.
@@KJs_Garage would you say this is the best option performance wise?
Nice 😀😀,,but what’s with sad backround music i dont understand..😭😭
It's not meant to be sad, it's supposed to be just calm background music. I was trying to go for a Bob Ross style video, and it didn't pan out quite the way I wanted it to 😅 first try for everything. Glad you like it though!
Where can I buy one? Great video
Nice video, any increases of Hp
The sound is good. Thank you
Nothing you will notice. It feels peppier haha
is this the best kit you can get for this car?
also, Im thinking of adding fog/signal lights to my 2019 Corolla LE... but Im not sure what socket types these lights use... Im basically looking to buy extensions so I could splice them instead of the original wires in the car just in case I fuck up.
any suggestions?
I don't have any advice on the foglight stuff unfortunately, I'm not an electrical guy.
as for quality, it's hard to do better than KN in my opinion, and the aftermarket for the Corolla isn't very big if you look outside of eBay haha. I've always had KN intakes because I love the look and the sound, just personal preference really
@@KJs_Garage alright and you think not much power is added with the kit?
@@iFLIP007 a Corolla isn't a car you buy if power is what you're looking for. If you have the CVT transmission, Dyno charts show that, in stock form, only 89 horsepower is making it to the wheels. The best power mod for this car is to trade it in
Hey does this work on a 2018 corolla XSE with ECO? I read somewhere that this wont fit on ECO models, even if it's a 1.8L, since there's an ECO module blocking the support brackets for the heat shield. I'm a bit concerned lol
I had someone install my air intake yesterday and 30 minutes later my check engine light & trac off light came on so I took it back to the person an he checked all the connections and reset the codes, he told me my computer has to get used to the new intake. Oh 30 minutes after the reset the lights were back on. If this happened to anyone on here I could use some advice. Thanks in advance.
replace your sensor
Get crc maf sensor cleaner works on both maf and throttle body...don't use throttle body cleaner on maf sensor
My Corolla backfires like a monster because I installed a borla axle back on it. Would further increasing airflow with an intake offset the backfires or leave them alone?
I can't say for sure, but backfires are due to having too rich of a mixture in the combustion cycle. I would argue that your borla probably doesn't have anything to do with the car backfiring, unless you're talking about it making crackling and popping noises when you're off throttle, that is simply your exhaust amplifying what the engine already does.
adding an intake probably wouldn't change things one way or another in that regard, but it will make the front end of your car noisier
@@KJs_Garage makes sense. I noticed that even with the stock muffler, I could every now and then here the car backfire. I installed the borla which really only let me hear everything better by taking away the 2 chamber muffle.
Is it backfiring in a loud violent manner or is it just crackling when you let off the throttle?
@@KJs_Garage not really. When I put it into manual, or semi manual (when your on "D" and use the paddle shifters) it backfires when I downshift and when I left of throttle but not violently. It's sounds like the most satisfying cracks and pops. Some times there a louder bang, but it's nothing crazy. It's at the "satisfactory" crackles and pop level.
@@njjx8800 yeah, that's just your axle back exhaust amplifying the noises that the engine naturally makes, you're good 👍 if you enjoy that kind of thing you'll definitely like this intake
Does a engine check light come after installing?
It didn't for me, if it's done correctly then there shouldn't be a CEL
thank you appreciate your fast reply , one more question i have 2018 corolla , i want to put struts in my hood so they can keep my hood open, i dont like to put the rod all the time , any chance sending me the Link.. thank you
I do not have hood struts on my car, I still have the hood prop rod
will this give any extra mileage, ?? nice video thank you .
By driving conservatively, I noticed a two to three mile per gallon increase in fuel economy 👍
should i be worried about the intake sucking in water when its raining or snowing?
@@tenzinttran9784 nah, I drove through 250k miles of all weather and never had an issue
@@KJs_Garage You’re a fking legend. I was worried about water and was thinking about getting the filter cover and what not. Safe to say, mines coming in the mail in 2 days.
Just put an injen on my 2003 corolla and is sounds NICE and now mustangs wanna race :(
Does it come with a sticker
Two of them lol
Do you have the part number for that ? I’m looking to buy a cold air intake system for my corolla.
I'm a bit confused about this intake setup including any short ram intake setups.. Is there not a literal tube coming from the wheel well? As in.. Toyota has setup the intake system to be cold air in the first place? Wouldn't these air intake setups just lower the performance since it's no longer pulling air from outside the engine but rather from literally inside the engine bay?
What setups like this do is remove a lot of the restriction for air to get to the engine in the first place, not necessarily add cold air to it. The name is kind of a misnomer.
And in this car the snorkel that Toyota provides actually pulls air from under the battery, not the wheel well. Still technically inside the engine bay.
Interesting.. for example, I had looked up the Injen CAI and it looks like the end of the intake sit between the wheel and the fog lamps, if that makes sense: b.cdnbrm.com/images/products/schem/injen/large/injen-SP2080BLK-installed.jpg
Just installed one to my 14 s plus, noticed after finished though, I didn’t cut the intake tube long enough so it has a kink in the tube.
Is it necessary to disconnect the battery when fixing the intake tube, or is it fine to leave it connected while fixing it?
You can probably leave it connected, it's only necessary to disconnect the battery when you first install the intake so that the ECU can reprogram to a different air fuel mixture compared to the stock one. If the intake is already installed then there's no need to disconnect the battery
@@KJs_Garage that’s what I thought initially, just wanted to get some insight. Pretty easy fix, it was restricting me from reapplying the engine cover, so it fits now and the tube fits much better now.
I will say it’s a little harder to fiddle with since I installed The lower bracket but it feels very secure so I like it. It was a pain in the ass to get it in though.
Que marca es el kit intake que compraste ..
YOO WHERED U BUY THE AFTERMARKET RADIO
Standard radio for the 2017 Corolla, that's what it comes with
How can I order this air intake for my two thousand eighteen corolla L e
hm the engine looks like the same engine on a 2005 corolla, 1,6 petrol, so the procedure should basically be the same? correct me if I am wrong.
I live over in the United States so I'm not familiar with anything outside of the 1.8L that we got here, sorry
what about a 2017 50th anniversary edition
because online it says up to 2016
If it has the 1.8 liter engine then this will work
My question is does it actually increase your performance? Because the computer is programmed a certain way and adding a part like that, you’d have to reprogram it so it’d actually makes the new intake, benefit the car...
Honestly, I noticed an increase in the gas mileage that I got due to less restrictive air flow. If I were to throw the car on a Dyno, I'm sure I'd notice a 3 or 4 horsepower difference, but you won't notice that just by driving the car. But then, if you're looking for performance you don't buy a Corolla in the first place.
Kevin And His Car I highly doubt adding that will give 2 horse power. And you’re right. Corollas aren’t for performance.
@@tylersanders3818 you would be wrong
I bet it's closer to 4hp added actually. K&N rates it at up to 8hp... so 4hp would actually be pretty conservative. Throw in a TRD exhaust and the Corolla is likely up to 140hp total.
Will the computer system sense that there's a new parts that has been installed and check engine/light will show in the dash board, and would need reprogramming etc?
No, that's what the MAF sensor is for, it detects how much air is flowing through the intake and adjusts the fuel accordingly
@@KJs_Garage got it! Thank you so much!
Did you forget to screw on that long L bracket from engine to intake tube?
I intentionally chose not to, since the intake is supported by the air box
Yeah, I noticed that from the video as well. He did not install that in the set up. I see the problem in trying to do so because if you want to screw the intake into the bracket on the bottom, you need to do that before installing the the bracket to the engine, then the intake to the throttle body.
So in order, after the heat shield is installed,
Install the long bracket to the bottom of the intake
then install the bracket to the engine
then install the intake to the throttle body, it’s easier to attach the cupler to the intake first, then attach it to the throttle body, just make sure you have both hose clamps on the cupler before attaching to the throttle body beforehand 😂
Would this give a check engine light I want to install this in my 2009 corolla?
If installed correctly, it shouldn't
How much air is that filter getting back there?
Have you noticed any power loss over time, or in circumstances with hot climate?
Any car is going to lose power over time, I put over 200,000 mi on it. Any car with his little horsepower as the Corolla is going to have a noticeable decrease in power when it gets really really hot, the air filter really doesn't change anything about that type of thing
Hey Kevin. I'm thinking of buying and installing this very same K&N Typhoon on my 2013 Corolla. Did you have any issues with the check engine light coming on after the install?
I have not had any issue with a check engine light with this intake, and I've had it on the car for almost 140k miles now. Looks good, sounds good, I highly recommend it
@@KJs_Garage Did you eventually remove the original air intake hose and duct or did you just left them in there?
@@saevurr I did some stupid nonsense trying to reroute a hose to in front of the radiator to draw cold air before I realized what I was doing was dumb and I don't want this car anyway lol
I'd just leave it alone, it's not bugging anything
So some time has passed after you installed the air intake. How is it now? Is it working well and I am planning to buy the same cold air intake and a borla exhaust for my 2016 toyota Corolla le premium, so is the air intake upgrade safe and do i have to worry about anything and is there any slight performance gains or a better throttle response? 🙂.
120k miles on the intake so far and it still runs great and sounds great. As for performance, if you want improvement you should consider trading for a faster car, because expecting this car to get faster is a pointless endeavor
@@KJs_Garage lol I know😅, any changes in throttle response tho??
@@KJs_Garage and does the stock exhaust sounds good with the intake upgrade??
Bottom line question:
Is there any horse power gains..??
If you want horsepower I'd recommend trading for a different car haha
@@KJs_Garage Did you feel any improvement..?? Any improvement is always welcomed. The Corollas only weigh about 3,000-pounds. I see a lot of guys with CZcams videos installing cold air intakes on Corollas and they don't say if they feel more power. Those cold air intake kits cost too much money and don't really give much improvement. But I live in Central California where our summers get over 110° degrees in July and August. And cold air helps make more power so a cold Air intake will help me get more power when it's 110° outside.
I had a little trouble around 8:02. i ended up getting the intake tub inside the rubber piece. its not supposed to go all the way through right? is there a small gap between the tub and the motor part? lol .. the video is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help a TON !!!!
just wish the volume was little hire.
As long as the tube fits inside the rubber coupler and there's no gaps, you're good 👍 and yeah, I realized the volume problem long after I uploaded it but it's too late to do anything about it now lol
Thanks!! I got mine all hooked up. Sounds nice. Your video was the reason why I got the K&N intake. Sounds super nice! YOU ROCK ‼️
Hello, did you have to the tune your engine??
No tune necessary
@@KJs_Garage okay cool :), but if you wanted to get the most bang for your buck, when buying a high quality intake, would you want to get a tune to get maximum performance out of it?
Have you had any dash sensors come on about your cold air intake since? Any issues??
Not if you do it properly
Does this work with eco models? I have a 2014 corolla Le eco and and was thinking about getting this product but I’m not sure what it does with the eco
I don't know for sure and I don't have any way of verifying that, but I'm sure that K&N's website should have some information on that
Do you have a link to where I can purchase?
Dyaammmmmmm crazy ass sound
Does this fit for toyota corolla 2017 LE? Just making sure. Thanks
It does, that's actually the exact car in the video 👍
Kevin And His Car ok thank you. I just wanna make sure. Does the intake gives you extra HP? Is there a improvement of the performance?
@@418cliquetv3 the biggest change I noticed is the noise level at full throttle, but if you drive it like a daily commuter you probably won't notice any difference in sound. If you really really look for it you might notice a slight increase in throttle response, but if you're looking for a performance increase, the best thing that you can do is trade this car for something else lol
hey so my car is a 2020 Corolla LE, it has the 1.8L, but will it still fit, only reason im asking is because all the cold air intakes online say up to 2019, so i was wondering if the 2020 1.8L engines are different in any way from the 2019 and previous 1.8L engines? Thank you
If it's the 1.8 it should fit
Did you put anything on the filter to protect it from water, or is it not necessary?
It's not necessary to protect it since water doesn't really reach that part of the engine bay
@@KJs_Garage thank you
Is this in rate as K&N supercharge filter?
Have you had any problems with hydro locking? Have you driven through any puddles without problems
The intake is placed very high in the engine bay, and after a hundred thousand miles there's little to no evidence of any water making it through the filter 👍 when I clean the filter I took a look at the throttle body and there's no evidence of anything but air going into the intake
Kevin And His Car Thank you for the response! I think I’m going to go with this one, could you provide an updated link? I believe the one in the bio is no longer working.
@@nolty654 hmm you are right, that's never happened before lol.
Unfortunately it looks like K&N has discontinued the Typhoon intake on this car :( I didn't see that coming, I thought it was pretty popular. However, it looks like HPS makes a similar intake that would likely perform and sound very similar to the kit I installed on the corolla, with the added bonus of color choice. here's a link: www.hpsperformanceproducts.com/hps-shortram-cold-air-intake-kit.html?find=2017-toyota-corolla-73257
