We are back to basics! Painting 3D Prints for Beginners tutorial series featuring a super awesome "The Thing" chibi. Welcome to the fourth and final part of this four part series on 3D printing and painting basics. In this series, I will be taking you through the entire process step by step to create an amazing painted 3D printed work of art.
We are ending our series by finishing out the base of this "The Thing" chibi model. BUT we aren't just painting in this tutorial. I'm going to be using some basing techniques borrow from the miniatures world. This will take an ok-ish painted 3D print to an amazing piece of art. You shouldn't settle for just what comes off the print bed. 3D prints are great but they can always be better. I talk about some of the things we can add to our models that is more than just paint.
If you missed the first three parts in this series, be sure to go back and watch those so this one makes the most sense!

The final words summed up everything, no amount of thanks would be enough for this video series.
Oh wow. Your very welcome Iâm glad I could help you. Best of luck on your painting projects!
Thank you Luka ModriÄ for all these tips.
Man, these videos helped me so much. Subscribed.
Amazing work, and the techniques are so well described. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
This video series is really quite amazing. I hope you produce many many more! The camera work and discussion about the detailing is an absolute pleasure to watch. Excellent work my friend!
Wow. Thank you so much. I put a lot of work into it. I canât tell you how much that mean to hear. Thank you for the support. I donât plan on stopping.
I enjoyed the tips and tricks. Awesome content.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help everyone who is starting this journey. Congrats on the amazing work. I'm going to start painting because of your videos.
You are very welcome Iâm just glad I could help. I wish you the best of luck on your future projects!!
I can only compare myself to myself. That hit hard. Great advice for life.
Yeah. Itâs applicable to just about everything in life. Itâs hard to do when there are so many people out there with more experience making such amazing things.
congrats, amazing, its really great, tks for this tutorial
Thanks so much. I hop you were able to pull some good tips from it.
Thank you very much for your advice. Just compare with yourself. Thank you
Iâm so glad I could help.
I'm so happy that I found your videos. Thank you for taking the time to put together these videos. I had so many doubts and you just clarified all of them.
Thank you
Your so welcome! Hope it helped!
At the end, I wanted to say "Thanks dad, I'll practice a lot!" but that would have been weird because I'm 67. Jokes aside, I really enjoyed the tutorials. I've been messing around with Rub n' Buff, and rust and patina kits, but now I want to try painting. For a healthy retirement, one must keep busy. :)
Ha ha. Thatâs good. Iâm really glad you enjoyed it. It really just does take practice. At the root they are all pretty simple techniques itâs just in time you get the order you need to do each technique in. Best of luck!
amazing videos. I really like the last tip. Compare yourself to yourself only .
That is honestly the best advice I could ever give. I realize I may never be good as other people but I am proud of what I can do and thatâs what matters.
love it!
Thanks a lot!!
I really enjoyed this series! Thanks for not waiting too long to post episodes either, this is something I looked forward to throughout the week. Oh, and if youâre looking for ideas for future videos, I have a freshly printed Dr. Doom that I have no idea how to paint. Just saying
Wow. Thanks so much. Iâm really happy to hear I have done Dr. doom in the past. It was a while ago and wasnât super happy with him but he would be fun to do again. đ
Here is the one I did I did a bunch of timelapse for my Instagram.

@@ItsMeaDMaDe awesome! And yes, thatâs the exact model I printed too. May give it a shot this weekend with using what Iâve learned so far. Fingers crossed.
thanks. awesomeđ
Glad you liked it!
Super informative and awesome series! Thank you!
Thanks so much. Hope you were able to pull out a few good tips! Best of luck on your future projects!
Great Series! Thank you for this!
No problem glad you liked it.
Love the series got some great tips
Thank so much Iâm glad it could help you!!!
You would make a great teacher đ
That was the dream job. Unfortunately teachers donât get paid what they are worth in the US. so I teach on CZcams
@@ItsMeaDMaDe oh, I was actually not anticipating a reply. I figured there would be too many comments however thank you for taking the time. I have only been to your country in passing through airports so I am unfamiliar with the teaching salary there however I own a small language school in Asia and I must say I would be delighted if a teacher was half as skilled at encouraging and guiding students as you showed in your video. It is a natural talent that made me want to watch more of your videos to learn. I use a version of D&D for teaching and therefore knowing how to create fun scenes and minis for my students is very useful. Once again, thank you for you time creating these videos. Excuse any mistakes, typing on a mobile can be difficult.
@@keydelllorenzana8143 I really try to respond to everyone. I want to just thank you for such a kind and thoughtful reply. I truly made my day. Helping and teaching is my true passion my main goal is to encourage people and show them anything is possible you just have to take it one step at a time with the addition to practice. Thank you again for this comment.
@@ItsMeaDMaDe I was actually so impressed by your video of you teaching your son to paint I shared it with my class. đ
@@keydelllorenzana8143 wow thatâs so awesome!
That was an amazing series!
Thank you so much. I hope you got some good tips along the way.
@@ItsMeaDMaDe Of course I did. Thank you for your videos
I see you added the battlefield rock link.
I believe those white rocks could be aquarium rocks for fish and what not.
Nice job on the video!
Oh wow. I never thought of that! Iâll add that. To the description thatâs for the tip. I might get me some. I couldnât find quartz and my buddy told he uses that so I added that. đ
Top top top video
Thanks so much!!
Another good one. I find it funny that as im watching you might do or say something that raises a question in my head that i plan on asking in the comments but a few minutes later you wind up answering that question lol
Then it looks like Iâm on the right track if Iâm reading your mind. đ. As always thanks for your support!
Great series, I am learning so much from your videos. I have noticed that you don't seal your models at the end, just wondering if there is a reason for that?
Thanks for all your hard work
awesome series! learned a lot, now i have to practice it :D on a side note, i would have used just a bit more grass, maybe 2 more patch :D
Thanks so much! Iâm glad you got something out of it. As for the grass thatâs the beauty of the hobby everyone does it differently. If your on Instagram tag me if would love to see the results (with more grass) đ
Did you make a flocking vid? Also thank you for your vids I e learned or found new ideas from your vids
Iâve never done a video on flock that is a good idea and Iâll add it to the list. Thanks for the comment.
You mentioned making one in this vid and couldnât find it was curious. My next projects a full size Pedestal of Time from Zelda to hold the sword and was just looking at flock as hobby lobby this week for it. Great vids
Did you take the Dale Carnegie Course? Because they teach you not to compare yourself to others, only to yourself. And this is the first time since I took the course some forty years ago that I heard someone else (you) say it. Very good video series, by the way.
No I didnât take it. Itâs just been a personal mantra my entire life.
@@ItsMeaDMaDe Well, good for you then.
Is epoxy safe to touch bare handed?
What about a clear coat or varnish?
What scale are you printing these.
Honestly donât know. Just scaled it by eye until it all fit on my print bed. Itâs about 8â tall
@@ItsMeaDMaDe lol.. got it.. hey btw... ive been watching and watching and watching your supports over and over again. Quick q... simce u did all those roof and floor tests using .1mm does that mean if i do them say at .2mm i need to x2 all those settings??
