Summary: If you want a flagship phone, you'll have to buy a flagship phone. If you WANT a great midrange phone, the A53 contends well.
Exactly.
Midrange phone but it doesn't even have a headphone jack ?
@@Windows-cv2rv the S22 Ultra doesn't have a headphone jack either.
Either get the Samsung USB-C-to-3.5mm jack adapter, or you can get the A53 with "free" Samsung wireless Buds2 or Buds Live (if you buy it from Samsung direct).
a52s 5g better, way better processor, WiFi 6, has a headphone jack so you can charge your phone while listening to your music, hdr10+ support, micro sd card slot, while being cheaper.
a53 5g also has the same chipset as the a33 while being more expensive , lol
it kinda blows my mind that people are buying the a53 instead of the a52s, some say its not available on their region, well buy it in amazon or ebay 😂😂😂
snappydragon 778g > laggynos 1280
Seems like a fair review pointing out valid points. But OTOH, saying not to buy a midrange phone at a midrange price because it doesn't have high end phone features isn't exactly mind blowing -- there's a reason people will pay a big premium for high end phones, and companies KNOW this.
I like my a 53. People just like to complain all the time for little things
Facts!!
I don't think anywhere people said its a bad device. The problem is its slower than the model it replaces with corners cut. No headphone jack, no charging brick, no WIFI 6 support, no FM radio and it has the slowest fast charging in that price category. The xiaomi note 11 pro cost 299 usd with basically the same specs but 67w fast charging.
Yup! So great so far for me too
I also like it
Really , I also like my phone A53
Kevin I really appreciate your videos. No obnoxious music, no long introductions, no long advertisement. You just get to it. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
@@KevinBreeze I ran a Geekbench on my moto one 5g ace which has the snapdragon 750G Chipset I got 629 single core 1723 multi core so basically the a53 is a little better performing that the one 5g ace
I second that !!
I have the A53 5G so I am fine with it. The phone being plastic doesn't matter to me since mine is in a full case. I knew what I was getting based on the price, I am fine with the features. I did not expect S22 high end features in a mid range phone. Don't care about Dex, don't need a 3.5 phone jack. Did not need a charger as I have many chargers. Don't really need wireless charging. Don't need an s pen so I am fine with the phone as is especially it's current price when compared to the top end phones.
Hmm srsly thanks you just typed my precise thoughts...now give me some more details does the phone being 5g make a big dif..? With network connections and buffering..that spinning circle or blinking wifi sign is my my hated problem
Same thoughts here. Plastic cases weigh less and there's no cables to break on wireless headphones. Much as I love wired headsets, I haven't used one in over 2 years. (You eventually get tired of repairing them lol.)
Upgrading from a Pixel 3A and a LG G8, the most important aspects for me are: stereo speakers, bass, a brighter screen, better efficiency, and price, as I always buy my phones used.
This phone checks all my boxes. 😊🌎✨
Everyone wants to spoil themselves with the best of everything tech, I'm still rocking my oneplus 7 that I got for $440 vs what the s10 cost at $900 which was just as good. Now I'm thinking about the A53 which would be a slight downgrade.
I love mine as well . I similarly don't expect high end features of a high end Samsung phone but it gets the job done for me on day to day. 👍
I was happy to see the 53g 5g has all the sensors and slow motion that my S9 has. But it appears that in SuperSlow, they removed the motion triggering for it. I do not see an option to use that anywhere. Also playback is 8 seconds instead of 14 like S9, but then there may be an overlooked setting for that I have not found yet.
If you really want a headphone jack, look at the A52. It's nearly the same as the A53, but with a slightly lower capacity battery and a Qualcomm CPU (that performs almost identically to the Exynos in the A53). I think they used the extra space from the headphone jack to fit the larger battery. They used their own Exynos CPU to save money, but it seems to perform just the same.
Buy a usb-c adapter.
@@wolfmode0061 Thanks God someone smart
How many milliamps is the battery? My Samsung Galaxy a42 has a 5000 milliamp battery
The A53 has a 5000mah battery. 🙂🌎✨
@@NR-nf1il A52 is 4500 mAh.
I bought mine 2 weeks ago. Carrier locked paid about $220 for the phone itself. I like it. Great camera and display.
Hows the performance lag issue on this phone?
@@Native722 it does have a lag when I connect to my car with android auto. Other than that, I'm happy with what I paid. I got it for camera. Great night shots.
@@Native722 performance is smooth . But u will find very bit lag in the performance when the phone gets heat other than that if u use it in very cool or air-conditioned environment phone will stay cool then u won't get lag in performance other than that it's good
Can you compare it in any way to the Samsung FE 2021? I know that against the Moto G stylus the cam is way better..
Helpful video, thank you ... I just wonder which devices are cheaper and wireless charging, you mentioned something at 6:46? I am specifically looking for a device with good camera, and two sim capability., aside of possibly wireless charging.. cheers
A53 is a great phone, good battery life, fast processor, fantastic screen, 5 year support, beats the A52s hands down, some people just like to moan about everything
Is it a LTE or CDMA or GSM? I've heard the CDMA & GSM phones won't be good after 12/2022. Anyone else know? I'm having lots of problems with my Tracfone phone & or service with my Samsung A20 right now
How is poly carbonate a limitation? It's the best solution. Means the phone won't break after a drop
I think the A73 should be like the Transition phone from the S series to the A series or maybe should take the FE's spot with decent processor maybe last gen or last 2 gen snapdragon 8 or Current Snapdragon 7 and Aluminum frame but Plastic back for the value of $500-$600 and maybe include wireless charging as well. Maybe the a54 and a74 could have wireless charging just like when they added water ratings for the a52 and a72
Thanks for this review video. We just purchased two of these phones and they are coming tomorrow. I didn't know that these did not have a headphone jack. I don't know why Samsung would not have one on this phone. I thought it was an "industry standard" on all ( or most) smartphones. Looks like we will need to order two adapters. (BTW - it doesn't come with a charger either.) We had to order those separately as well as two exterior cases for both phones. I'm surprised they included the battery.
If you review the product before you bought it, you would know. I can care less if it had a headphone jack or not or if it doesn't come with a charger. I also knew that before I bought the phone.
Lol 😂😂😂
Are you sure about the Wireless Charging? Because a friend of mine has it on his, and can charge wirelessly and online some sites claim you can wireless charge with this model phone. Unless Samsung has rereleased it.
Where's the link to the other video u were saying mentioned both the benefits and drawbacks of this phone and what other phones are available which will take a 1 TB micro sd card? Thanks
I have the A32 5G.It has a headphone jack but it stopped working after a while. The connection is loose.
I'm looking at getting a new phone and the A53 is affordable. Does it let you set your sd card to internal storage? And where do you buy the fast charger?
I don't want to hook my phone up to a desktop anyway
I love my a53, awesome battery, screen, camera and speakers. What else could I want in a phone? Also, mine came with a charger.
Kevin, I have spent several hours trying to figure out how my A53 5G will find my inhome router so I will be using internet. Any suggestions

went from a note 8 to the A53 ... a lot alike and about the same size screen. i'm happy with my choice
Hows the performance lag issue on this phone?
@@Native722 no lag.. it's smoother bro
Um yes I was curious about one thing concerning this phone does it work with a gear vr headset
Yeah for $449 I feel it's very overpriced. They should have dropped at least $100 off the retail price. The good thing is that there are some great carrier deals on it right now.
They will probably have sales at some point.
I still wouldn't get it from a carrier. Besides not being able to easily switch carriers if you want, the carrier just puts on more bloat (adware) to bring that price down. Always get your phone unlocked from the manufacturer.
Best Buy had it dropped $100 a few weeks ago. Also if you sign up with Google Fi you can get it for $250 + tax
Girl it's a mid-range not a budget phone
@@chanteldewet2059 I bought a budget phone a few years ago. It cost me 179.00 and worked for 3 months. Never again.
I bought the S21 FE and I regret it for two main reasons battery drains and get overheated. I am looking for another alternative even downgrading but I need a phone with good battery and doesn't warm for normal usage. Am not a gamer not a photographer. Any recommendations from Samsung?
Get the s10 but make sure its snapdragon version, i have exynos and battery is pretty bad
When this phone released price of A52s dropped alot.So I got A52s which has much better performance with Snapdragon 778g,camera quality is identical,it has headphone jack.It just has 500 mah less battery but still battery life of A52s is absolutely amazing. Charger is also included in box even tho it's a 15 watt one and price of A52s is also cheaper in my country as compared to a53
But a53 has 2 years extra software support
Found a C type earphones here that is compatible with my A53 5g.
I just want them to keep the headphone jack port :(( It should not be removed in my opinion...They are still a lot of people that use wired headphones and there are still a lot of very good wired headphone on the market ! Even samsung have there AKG wired headphone that are in my opinion unbeatable ! I know you can use an adaptater but i dont want to have to connections with my headphones... its more fragile... And we know that they can have ips certifications even with headphone jack ports !
dex - never used even on my note, wireless charging is sooo slooow compared to just connect your laptop charger to the phone. 1h10 minutes later its gone from 0% to 100%.
How is plastic a negative? All low and mid-rangers are made of plastic. So many disadvantages to metal and glass, weight and durability. Just a reason to jack up prices.
I love the A series but this one is just super overpriced for what it is. Plastic body...I could live without a metal frame. No charger included!? This thing costs almost 500 bucks and the couldn't include a charger!? For the price it should be metal backed, have wireless charging and included the full fast charger. I agree they should have squeezed in a s pen. This one is way overpriced
In all fairness, it doesn't blatantly sell all of your data (hence price, also the chip shortage exists), most midrange phone buyers don't care about wireless charging, and the S Pen is pricey tech.
Also, USB-C...come on. I'd rather accessories. USB-C is so common now that the E-waste argument actually makes some sense.
Headphone jack is a damn shame though
@@planefan082 surely you don't think Samsung and its Android operating systems will lose the chance to sell data. Of course they do. Don't be naive. To say most customers looking for phones at this price range aren't worried about wireless charging is just nonsense. Of course many of us care about such things. I agree about the s pen. I certainly don't want or use any stylus on my phones.
@@BamaChad-W4CHD I know a lot of people, many of whom use midrangers; none care about wireless charging.
I do know they take some data; I'm talking lesser evils here. At least Samsungs aren't so bad that there aren't countries banning their use (like a decent few other midrange producers)
Wireless charging can't work with a metal back you numpty
Plastic body is perfect. Why you want something that will crack as soon as you drop it? Why do you want metal that gets fire hot just sitting in the sun? Why pay for something you'll cover with a thick plastic case to protect it. Think!
Hi,is this phone any good for taking pictures in sunlight,i am planning on going to a hot sunny location.
For all the people upset with things that should've been included like a charger and etc for the money, just keep in mind that this is way better than paying 1400 for a phone with no charger or headphone jack 😂 If it were my money I probably would just get an A52 off Swappa but still.
Yo no lie I went into metro and paid 242 and walked out with the A53 a case and screen protector with the months service and a A13 with a case & screen protector kit and months service. I didn't want the chargers cause imo I don't trust those fast chargers coming from the vape world the slower the charge the better, and longer the battery will last and last over all. Plus they aren't even samsung 30w they are some off brand they push for 30 bucks each. So in conclusion for the deal I got ill gladly take that!!
It's 199.99 for a new line at metro or boost.
Sourcing a simple charger with 5V 2A spec only costed us less than US$1 back then. Before the pandemic, these could be found at retail outlets starting from $2 in many regions close to these manufacturers. They sometimes even came with micro-usb cables. I bought one charger at a random shop when traveling in that region, came with a lightning compatible cable, for about $4 in 2019. Also bought a quick charge charger & usb-c cable set for $7. You guessed it right, I forgot my charging cables again when packing for that trip. It was cheaper and easier to get a charger with cable set at some corner shops than buying the "original" cables from some authorized dealer shops. I can still remember we started hearing rumors Apple already started to exclude chargers in their next iphone products. And that really happened in 2020 if I memory serves me right.
@@csyiphk haha yeah ok. Apple is trying to do away with all ports. The quick charger is just another way to make money. You don't need a 30 or 65w charger what he said the 5/2 is the perfect plug imo it's safe and I'll wait a Lil to keep the longevity and 4 to 5 days worth of battery.

same here.
me too! upgrading from my 4th S7
what do you recommend for a good price range and features ?
My phone is galaxy a53 5g but i can't use the battery for long time ,i use for 6 or 5 hours then finished the charge especially When i use ticktock i use for 2 hours how can fix this problem Please ?
I grabed this phone for £290, which is a reasonable price for a mid range phone. I'm not dropping the price of a car on a device thats only going to last me 2-3 years.
Is this a good upgrade? I have an A51.
I have the s53 it doesn't have a notification light if you get a viocemail or text. That's a real bummer.
It is made out of Polycarbonate on the back and sides, PC is an extremely strong material. I use PC (Polycarbonate) tanks on my vape tanks because because they don't break as easy as glass tanks when dropped or even just tipped over. Also Dex Mode is exclusive to the flagship Samsung phones. I upgraded from a Galaxy A32 5g and when you switch the A53 to run on 6gigs of ram instead of the default 4gigs the experience is SO MUCH smoother. When you first get your A53 it will most likely be set a 60Hz screen refresh rate so you'll have to switch it manually to the 120Hz screen refresh rate. The screen is beautiful using a 6.5in Infinity-o AMOLED display with like 409ppi. The only phone better than this (in the US) at this price point is the Google Pixel 6a and that's just in terms of Google's Camera software, the samd Tensor chip that's in the Pixel 6 and 6 pro. The Chip in the A53 could have been better than The Samsung made Exynos 1280 SoC, some reviews think Samsung should have stuck with the Snapdragon 778g and the earphone jack is gone the A53 so you'll either need a usb-c to 3.5mm adapter or just her a pair of wired ones with usb-c on the end.
Who the f thinks a phone is not worth it because of no charger included or a headphone jack
I highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy A53. Its a very stylish looking phone. And good features on it for the price.
It has no headphone jack. It shouldnt be a feature
@@beforethebigbang892 Headjacks are the past. Its bluetooth pods now. You need to get with the times
My now phone is : Single-core Score 191
And multi-core 869
Shold I change to A53 5g?
Which phone do you have?
It's not fair to not include the headphone jack atleast in the mid range phones.....in this case it is better to opt for A52s 5g which is better in terms of everything when compared to A53
A52s 5g is amazing but it doesn't work in the US
@Hew Jarsols so? bigger battery doesn't always mean that it will last longer. a52s 5g better
Coming from a Cheap LG phone. The only downgrades I would point would be no Radio (Cuz my LG was a Snapdragon 445 model) and no Headphone jack. For me It would be choice of this phone a S20 series priced between $350-$550 or s21fe: Mainly as I'm interested in Snapdragon 865 power or power around there. or maybe another phone that isn't too expensive but has a good featureset and softwareset
How to change mirror cam to this unit can't find it
Had my phone now for a couple of weeks, couldn't be happier it does everything I need
It's a awesome phone I agree
Hows the battery life ?
Battery is bad
Battery is awesome for me
@@alwayswatching4677 how many hours of screen in time ?
I purchased this phone a few days ago and it's better then I expected. The bezels are very small. If you e owned an S10/+/5G then it looks basically the same but the A53 5G is taller.
I wanna switch my moto ace 5g for it any takes
In zooming in on that Samsung charger (at 5:30), it shows 9v at 1.67A, or about 15w. Still low. I've tested output of many USB-C chargers listed as being 25w and being "adaptive", they actually will usually charge at around 13-14w and still charge in an hour and a half. You'll get a screen indication of "Fast Charging", but not "Super Fast Charging".
The phone is still a bargain for the $149 Boost Mobile is now selling it for. I'm pretty sure you can also buy a stylus separately that would work w/this phone
Hey, I was charged $450 at T-mobile for it!
They used to give the phone free and charge the monthly payments for 2 years. Now free phones are for new customers only. Surely will have to change provider!
Just used geek bench on my completely up to date iPhone XS and got a single core score of 748 and a multi core score of 1917 I know it’s not supposed to be a fair comparison because of the price difference but I still think I should upgrade to this A53 because of how much cheaper it will be and it will work very close to as well as far as processing as my over priced iPhone
You should upgrade because it’s cheaper and it will work very close to it ? Based on this sentence I wouldn’t call this an upgrade, I mean if it’s the same, don’t change it
I did my old Galaxy S-9 and has, single core 512 and Multi-core of 2120
1. Build quality (lot of (nice) plastic)
2. No Samsung DEX
3. average CPU Speed
4. no headphone jack
5. no 25w charger included
6. no wireless charging
7. no S-Pen compatibility
great if you could you comparison between a52s and a53, they seem to be at the same Price point now
I have a moto g play 7 from like 3 years ago. I need to upgrade but my funds are low. I just do normal stuff and play music and some pictures. Will this be a good upgrade? I can get it for $200
It'll be a good upgrade
Depending how good you want your camera to be, the Samsung Galaxy a03s might be enough for you. Better to spend about $70 more though and get the a53 for a way better camera and better performance.
Yes 100 % you will be happy with it trust me I'm not a bullshitter like all the icrap people that try to convince you to get icrap
Thanks for the reply a I'm going to order one. I have really never had flagship phones and this seems like it'll suit my needs.
If you want something that is really similar to this and can get for less bucks,go for the a33 instead. It has the same processor, contains the water and dust resistance rating and you get a less fluid 90 hz compared to the 120 hz on a53,but coming from a 60hz device,it will still be an upgrade for you. A33 is also slightly smaller making it more compact and has a waterdrop notch. This and a slight camera downgrade and you basically have the same phone.
I held on to my S7 until the screen crapped out. Just got the A53 and wow what an improvement! Very pleased.
I just bought a53...awesome phone no issues at all
Its a good phone! I have had damn near every premium phone and I barely can tell the difference! If you are a picky person this is not the phone for u real shit💯
i am watching this video on my a53. system somes feeze for 10-15 seconds or longer. wifi takes long time to establish connection. otherwise not too bad. havent tried demanding apps on it yet, not expectating much out of it.
3:00 tried GB5 on my LG G7 ThinQ and got 517 single/2154 multi. Sometimes it's a better value to buy an older flagship vs a brand new mid-range.
EDIT: Bought a used Pixel 6 Pro.
worst part is that the older Samsung A52s 5G gets you 712 in single, and 2637 in multi... and then the A53 comes out and is slower :/
@@AndrewTSq Save money and buy the A52.
Last week I bought my friend's Google Pixel 6 Pro.
I am extremely happy with my A53 5g. upgraded to it after i passed off my (still) great working A51 4g to my mother. we love both our phones :)
Speaker sucks, and most of time I can't hear the person I talk to on cell most of the time and no jack for a head phone. Battery dies quick . Why did I buy this cell I'm stuck. It didn't come with charger.
Can I use wired headphones with an adapter through the charging port, and charge at the same time?
Yes for only 99.99 adapter.
Uh how does it compare to the ulefone power armor 13?
lol I'm upgrading from a 2008 flip phone. So I'll be fine.
I bought the A53 5G directly from Samsung but had to return it because of issues I encountered with the 5g connectivity ,I'm a t-mobile customer and t-mobile support told me that the problem was not on their part but on the device, I am very disappointed with the performance of the A53 5G
It's def your country's band or sum cuz if it was the A53 , more people would complain and Samsung would send out a statement
Avoid because it's back cover made from plastic? I wish my iphone would be made from plastic instead glass😅
It seems like a decent budget phone. You’ll get four years of software updates, a more than decent camera, doesn’t look cheap, the only real complaint that I have is no wireless charging, but what are you gonna expect From a 400 dollar phone, yk?
For me my galaxy a53 battery drain quite fast.. idk before sleep after fully charge i do open some apps around 5 to 10 minutes ,battery drop to 96% then screen off going to bed. I woke up in the morning the battery drop to 90%...
Plastic doesn't impact the antennas as much as metal.
The reason I'm not buying it is there's no 3.5 mm jack. Not everyone likes wireless earbuds and I got a decent pair of headphones. I'll probably go for the A52s or Sony Xperia 5 iii instead. Got an A50 atm but the charging connection is becoming unstable
Has it got e-sim?
I dislike this phone alot as when people call me while I'm driving ( or if I call them ) hands-free of course they cannot make out at all what I am saying. I can hear them clearly. A serious safety issue of course. Does anyone else have this issue?
the A90 5g had the desktop mode but that is a bit of a beast and weird phone but still is good
Fyi the galaxy a90 5G did have DEX the only A series to do so but shows it can be done
is it better than the A11?
My A53 5G overheats when In cellular data
Headphone jacks are like CDs and cassette tapes. History. ! Its all being phased out. Most people now are buying bluetooth headphones/ buds
The a 52s 5g is just the best of the current Samsung A generation.
A53
No charger [ trying to save Environment ]
No headphone jack
Plastic back [ Environment saved ]
Slower processor [ do not set refresh rate in 120 hz it might cause stuttering]
Optical fingerprint [ these are bad and slow ]
Lpddr4x and ufs 2.2 storage [ outdated ]
Alternates A52s or S20fe 5g
It's a mid range,what do you expect?
What do you think about galaxy note 9?
What makes that 3D printed material crap? I love my matte black and gloss sides. Imo I'd rather that over glass it won't shatter, as for Dex I have the tab7L so I'm good with that. That's a new processor they need to give it time to see what it can do in my opinion it's supposed to run way cooler. As for the no charger they can keep the fast charger, I'd rather use my OG charger and have battery for days and last into years. Ppl don't use the wireless or quick chargers they will run your phone so hot and ruin it use the 9w or under. Theybdid away with the port to make it more water proof!!
I use the 25watt super fast charger for the A53, and it barely raises in temp by a few degrees. fast chargers have two phases, fast from 0-80%, then slows down to about half to 3/4th speed to prevent over heating for the last 20%.
@@jcblocka7477 see where you're wrong with is if it was made by Samsung for these phones. Yes it would as well as drop power at full. But the off brand ones they're selling it don't trust. Coming from a vape background where battery safety is everything slower the charge the longer the battery will last and stronger it will be. You high charge and high drain your battery its going to be holding 5 6 hrs worth of life in 6 months. I get 4 5 days worth of battery out of my phone.
@@eye_am_me_8597
If want you longevity from the battery, never let it drop below 15%, and rarely if ever charge above 85%. Never leave it plugged in after 100%.
@@jcblocka7477 no doubt when I first get a new phone I run it down to the red zone then do a full charge turned off. Well that's cool and all but the problem with that is he's talking about the a53 not the a52 🤔
I had like I said before the a51 a52 and now have the a53 I returned the s21 Fe and the s22 because the a53 has more to offer it has everything the high end phone has and more ear phone don't matter that's why they invented Bluetooth
Same here. I had the s21fe but the camera hole would intrude in certain videos. Like a Lil nibble, weird design choice. I am enjoying this a53 as my 2nd phone
Can you tell me the high end features of this phone?
@@mickey7758 camera with ois , 5.000 mah, sd slot , 5g , android 12 , 5.000 mah and sd slot are even better then the s22 series .
The phone is completely made out of plastic? CPU, battery, screen, cables as well?
It's already on sale at best buy.349.99$ unlocked
I have an A42-5G and I do have a phone jack, it cost me $450, it has OTG ability to tether to a monitor, has a larger screen than the A52-5G, and appears to be much better than the A52 in every way except having less Rom
The Camera on the A53 is better than the A52s. There is lots of youtube reviews which show the A53 has a better camera. Also i was going to buy the Samsung S21fe. But just like the premium S galaxy phones. They have no micro SD card storage. They want you to pay for storage. But luckily on the A53 it has a micro SD. A big selling point for me. My photos safe if ever my phone breaks.
Thanks Kevin , all of the disadvantages you've mentioned fall in the don't care zone for me so I'm seriously considering upgrading to this device.
I love this phone and I only paid $350 for it on sale price match to Best Buy
This phone will be my first phone other than my moms old one wich I got last year but I was supposed to get the S10 but it discontinues next year wich rlly made me sad cause the S10 was my fav and I haven’t Kaye’s a hand on it yet. I rlly hope in the future there will be something like the S10 However I am rlly looking forward to this!
None of those things are given in many flagships, well maybe the wireless charging but still, s-pen?, headphone jack?, charger?
Thanks Kevin you hit the nails on the head here imo. There may be an 8th reason to avoid. Long story short... After some personal experiences and much research it's coming to light, some regions/variant of the A52, A52 5G, and A52s 5G, aren't quite getting the update support Samsung promised especially on the security patch front. For me personally my unlocked A52 5G has been skipped over three times now, in a year, for a security patch and our next patch looks to be arriving nearly 3-months after last. Can't vouch for other Samsung device's but here they've been overfeeding some while starving other's. I know crap happens but if they couldn't adhere to their promise in the first year what does that say about those remaining when the device's are even less relevant?
If there’s no headphone jack, use Bluetooth connection for earbuds!
