  • Ride in a Ukrainian Mig-29 to experience flying low and fast to avoid Russian radar. Ukraine believes replacing some of its Soviet-era fighter jets with American made F-16s can give it a decisive advantage over the Russians. Read more: wapo.st/3NaNXPa. Actually the Mig29 is still a good fighter in the right role. It doesn't have the range or avionics of a more modern jet but as a point defence it still is effective. The pilots and maintenance personnel know the plane and they have the parts to keep them flying. Ultimately to take the fight to Russia they will need something more modern but the planes complement each other. The F16 for long range strikes and scramble the migs when the radar detects an attack. Especially if they can put when they put in more modern NATO standard radar and weapon control systems into the pigs. It's like Britain in WW2. The Spitfires went after the escort fighters leaving the Hurricanes free reign to go after the bombers.

      @@billymadison8574 WDMMA, CNN, and Orxy. Ukraine had 81 fighter jets. At least 78 Ukrainian fighter jets are confirmed to be shot down. NATO has sent 30-40 or so older aircraft to Ukraine, including air support and helicopters. Orxy specifically makes a point on this is ONLY confirmed, and that there are likely much more that have not been confirmed, especially with jets which are most of the time shot down 100 km away now a days.
      And CNN in one of their ukriane pilot articles interviewed a pilot who lost “many wingmen” and CNN states that being a pilot is extremely risky because they have the highest attrition rate in the entire war at around 90%. This is because vastly superior su-35’s and more modern radar systems form the Russian army, and the very good anti air SAMs Russia has. At the beginning of the war, Russia set 2 consecutive world records by shooting a ukriane jet out at 190 km, and then 220km a week later.

    The Mig 29 is doing exactly what it was designed to do, be a cheap multirole frontline fighter that can cover airspace when needed. The Su 27 and its derivatives are completely different. They are dedicated air superiority fighters that sit back and sling missiles at long range, they are much more expensive and fewer in number. Sending Mig 29s against Su 27 isn't what you're meant to do. Old F-16s are exactly the same, they were designed to be cheap and cheerful whilst the F-15 is an equivalent to the Su 27. Getting F-16s won't solve this problem lmao.

    • @yoshimitsu1260
      @yoshimitsu1260 Před 4 měsíci +35

      Even F15 aren't going to solve this problem, first because we wouldn't and we couldn't send enough of them and secondly because F15 technology is too old yet, that's why US started updating them (F15EX).
      In these last 2-3 years our most updated NATO F35s have been intercepted several times by Su35s without being able to detect these Su35s 'till these were flying close enough and started jammering our F35s, proving that their jammer technology is still better than our most updated anti jammer technology while we also can't really explain how was it possible that an F35 having a significatly lower RCS couldn't see Su35 coming while Su35 could spot with its radars our F35s and intercept them.
      People are so delusional that they still don't get that if Russia was a third world country, USA was controlling their territory already; if this isn't happening, and if USA had to do an alleance of more than 30 countries against Russia, its because Russia isn't that weak as our prpaganda is trying to tell us. There is no way Ukraine is gonna win this war, i'm saying this since the begin. No matter what weapons or vehicles we will send them, Russia military industries is way more efficient and advanced than Ukraine.
      Even Europe can't really do much to keep up to Russia military indistries, we're spending billions of euroes to produce in 1 year the same amount of artillery shells that Russia can produce in less than a couple of weeks.

      @@yoshimitsu1260 bro, the reason US hasn't invaded Russia is because they're sitting atop almost 6,000 nuclear warheads. It has nothing to do with how advanced their tech is; it's the fact that Putin will glass the European and North American continents (and US and its allies likewise to Russia).
      As for your claim about interception and jamming, I'd like to see a source. Currently, both sides regularly fly close to each other's air spaces to gauge their reaction times and tactics. Russian planes regularly fly into Alaskan airspace, and USAF fighters regularly intercept them and escort them away.

In some ways this is what a 'wingman' drone could be good for - then allied countries need only compatible displays, controls, and hardpoints for their bombtrucks.

    • @Skankhunt-tx4hi
      @Skankhunt-tx4hi Před 3 měsíci

      Low altitude flight is a necessary measure since aviation is constantly monitored by SAM radars starting from an altitude of 1,500 feet and the chance of losing an aircraft even at such an altitude increases many times, however, an aircraft flying at low altitude creates a Doppler effect with the earth's surface, which makes it practically invisible to SAM radars, missiles and other aircraft. In fact, the sound from the aircraft will be displayed on the radar (provided that the SAM radar has the ability to detect sound), but the accuracy of the radar will be noticeably lower, including due to the diffraction of the sound wave and the loss of part of its energy when it collides with the surface of the earth, trees, buildings and other obstacles. Of course, anti-missile countermeasures could be used at high altitude, but their number is very limited, which dictates new conditions for certain missions.
