    Thank you for your great comparism! There is actually one difference more for the neck. The standard has a thin lacquered neck while the RS is „unfinished“ means oiled and waxed. For that reason the RS feels a bit smoother, more natural. I have also both (the RS as a Cutlass and the Stingray exactly in the same red) and I like also both necks from the feel. But besides that, the neck shape is quite different between the Cutlass and the Stingray.

    I love all Ernie Ball instruments!
    I would like to see more bass videos as well. I'm not suggesting you buy them, but if you see one in a shop and they will let you demo one, that would be cool. I am especially interested in a Moolon bass, J or P, and a Dingwall 5-string multi-scale.

    Nice demo and interesting details. I've had both versions and prefer the standard maple neck. I might just be lucky with this particular set of woods, the timbre cuts through our band's mix nicer (where my ears just like it) and every gig has people asking about the guitar. I follow the Tom Bukovac plan using 3 x OD pedals (all J.Rocketts), all on quite low gain, but the combinations leaning one into another, and a Mad Professor Sweet Honey OD which adds more Les Paul grunt to my set-up, even though I'm mostly playing modern country. Wampler Ego Compressor is always on with approx 50% Blend mix. The picks ups are awesome

      Thanks for commenting. That pedal setup sounds great. I’ve heard good things about the Wampler compressor but never picked one up. I might have to!

      @@wrashchild you're welcome mate. Many Wampler pedals have a blend function that allows you mix your true and affected signals at whatever levels suits the player. My pedal chain is Tuner > Wampler Ego Compressor > J Rockett Rockaway Archer with EQ > Mad Professor Sweet Honey OD > J Rockett Tim Pierce OD > J Rockett Dude > Peavey Classic 20 amp clean channel with 2 x Celestion NEO Creamback Cabs. MXR Reverb & Wampler Faux Tape Echo in the loop. So many drive combinations, none set beyond level 4. Having had 3 slipped discs, I had to find ways to get rich solo and rhythm tones without an amp that needs 3 people to lift on stage. The Musicman Stingray absolutely sizzles through this lot.

      @@wrashchild I own 2 music man guitars. Stingray RS in Vintage Turquise and the Valentine in Trans Buttermilk. I play mainly alternative rock & post hardcore. 🙂 I just recently started a youtube channel to talk about my guitars as well. Love your videos man, very well produced!

    thx for Video, great guitars. which pickups did you choose ?

    • @wrashchild
      @wrashchild  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! The stock pickups are just custom Ernie Ball ones that they make specifically for each guitar. But I did change out the bridge pickup for the RS to a Duncan JB. Sounds great!

    Do you think this guitar could do classic rock stuff. Like a mix between strat and a les paul ?

    • @wrashchild
      @wrashchild  Před rokem +1

      Absolutely! I’d say the stock pickups are perfect for that.
