For the past 2 weeks I've been at home sick. And 2 weeks ago I came across your channel. I went back to the very start and now I'm finally up to date 😅 I've binged the entire channel in 2 weeks 😂 who needs Netflix? 😂 love your channel guys! From a UK follower 😊
I had to laugh when I read that because I did the same thing.

@@PaulWinters328I hope you’re feeling better now. They’re quite a good and phenomenal couple and always a team effort on whatever they do, they have a beautiful vision of what they are making there’s ❤.
Oh that little barn is gonna be so stinking cute.
A lawn guy in Australia uses some sort of umbrella to shade his camera. Might be worth a thought
Hello family! how are you.? I'm from Brasir. Ok my friend.
That's a whole bunch of rubber sheets! Nice! Perfect roofing for a barn.
Wait till she adds the dirt and grass on the roof, it’s gonna be a green roof system!
The labor hours you've spent on your building projects have got to have saved you 100s of thousands of dollars by now. Great work.
Real off grid rock stars !! Using the land to build your house and barn !!! You guys are amazing much respect.
Rubber, siding, windows, soil leveling. A transformation, good so far.
The barn will be done before you know it. Thanks for the video.
The barn is actually too nice to house animals ! 😊
Thank you for showing the growing chicks. They just make me laugh ! Lots of progress on the barn too.
From the way the tractor was bouncing, it looked like the path to the barn needs some of that dirt.😊
Good morning or good afternoon you guys hope you have a great day hope you enjoy your motorcycle day catch you later
I see that you have a dirt floor in the barn. Can I suggest placing a pile of small rocks 7-12 cm in size all around the barn exterior walls. If any predators try to dig under the wall the rocks will fall into the hole and help to deter most predators from continuing. Its a method that was used at some small jails here in the UK in the 18th and 19th centuries to prevent prisoners escaping.
That's quite impressive getting the re-cycled rubber to become the roofing material. It looks like a water tight roof membrane. Nice work
Beautiful woman working hard can’t beat that love watching you do your thing 😊
Hello from Germany from Kakenstorf Hans und Oci topp job ❤❤❤👍👍👍❤❤❤
good job u2!....repurposing stuff love it!
Looking great and blizzard proof! The smoke was down to Denver yesterday! Fires and other difficulties are always a good time for prayers to the Almighty in the name of Jesus! Ron PTL USA
Three weeks after I thought it. Massachusetts announced on the news that it was intentionally set on fire there's not a lot of forest in Boston Massachusetts growing up there I never remember a forest fire
Great progress! Even though it is a barn, consider how to keep moisture out of the walls to prevent mold and premature rot. I checked hardi plank installation documents and installing on studs like you did is acceptable but there needs to be a water barrier behind it. In addition, where two planks meet vertically there should be a small strip of flashing behind the joint to keep water from going in and getting behind the lap row below. You may be fine the way it’s done but this was something that I thought about and wanted to share.
Hats off to you Katie! I know that you are planting vegetables like potatoes and such, but it is nice to have some flowers 🌹 around the property. Us girls need to have flowers, yes indeed!
I know we need food to survive, but I prefer growing flowers 😅
I really enjoy following you guys and look forward to your updates. Katie, you are one hard working young lady and I am totally impressed with your drive, work ethic and can do attitude. I have total respect for both of you and what you are doing together!!
these off grid posts are my go to when I need a brain fix. yours are by far one of the most honest and best, keep them coming. May I suggest a couple of things, you have lots of off cuts and a saw mill, make yourself an outside workbench that can be moved around easierly with the tractor. The other is for both of you get a pair of decent light weight work boots and wear them. take it from me you will thank me sooner or latter.
your Aussie mate rick
They never wear boots on the farm in the summertime 😂!
I can imagine how it's gonna look when your projects are all done simply beautiful.
I love the barn siding color. I also love free lol
Thats looking really good. That siding is working perfectly for that. And the windows.
That is going to be one beautiful barn and I think you are going to have some happy animals come winter. Awesome job.
Looking so good! Love the sights and sounds of your place that many times you start your videos with.
The barn is looking good !!!
Really sweet music at 15:08 and 20:24: Nice choices! What a well-built, nice-looking barn!
Gonna be a pretty barn when it's done !!
Katie, what flowers? Using those off cuts like you did before will make good raised beds. Suggest you overlap just a cm so the soils stays put.
That roof might just make a nice base for solar panels, if the angles are right.
This project is coming along well. I expected insulation in the walls if only to keep the power station operating at full efficiency during cold weather.
Los admiro y disfruto sus videos... saludos GREG & KATIE desde Chiapas, México.
Is the barn siding going to influence the final decision on the house’s siding? My guess is, Yes!
😂 you are right, but we've made a decision and it's even going to save us money
Seems you answered my question. Best wait and see you 😮
hello this off grid life its is randy i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
That is a 100%, nice chicken house ; ) 😊
HardiPlank is good stuff. That siding tool a fine invention. It saves a lot of indigestion. You young folks are amazing.
I know it’s a barn but don’t you want to put flashing or tape around the windows to keep them water tight?
That’s a waste of time when they can just caulk it, plus they have nice overhangs.
Katie, the mountain lady !! What an asset you are to your and Greg‘s Homestead !! The Homestead is going to look pretty fabulous bedtime winter rolls around again. Good job, no make that great job 👏!!
Good idea for the roof. God bless y'all.
We had a couple days so smoke coming from Canada and I live in Pennsylvania
Wow, that's far
You can use dry sawdust to insulate the walls helps with heat and cold all you need for ventilation is one of those whirly birds the wind turns them and ventilates the barn from condensation
Where ever you have a joint you should have put metal flashing behind to keep out water
We were originally going to paint the bars so I was going to use a good construction adhesive on the seams before painting. I can get this color of caulk for the seams
Smoke been bad here in Colorado Springs too.Barn looks good to.
I admire you both so much. Greg is a gem and he has a precious girl by his side.nuff respect! 19:05
it looks awesome!!!!!! i actually like the color☺️
Beautiful! an example of old style living, farming, and modern solar power incorporated into it.
keep things flown
I cant wait for the siding off your house.. Greats from the Netherlands.
Man, what a great idea for the roof, it should last a very long time! Love the Hardiboard for siding, it'll serve ya'll well. Love ya'll ❤️
Looks amazing ❤I like that you always come up with something unique for your fur baby’s I would do the same anybody can build a barn but not a unique one
The burn looks very nice look like someone can live in it doing winter at the bottom put tin around the bottom when snow pile around the wood it would rotten the bottom.
Oh wow! The Barn is turning out so good.
You are making it look like a palace!
It’s looking awesome guys!! 🙌🏻❤️
Y'all are killing it. Rick3 on.
Peace and love, Tim

I admire you two so much..amazing work you do together 😍👏🏼👏🏼
Wow awesome video Rosa
How nice is looking❤
The place is starting to great❤
Excellent work Greg,& Katie! Teamwork makes the dream work.💯💜👍🏾💕👏🏾
I’m probably making this comment not knowing if you have tiled or finished the surrounding walls in your bathroom tub area, if you haven’t finished yet I would suggest you using cement board on the three walls surrounding the tub, to prevent mold in future.
The barn looks nice enough to live in!
The barn looks great! I like grey so I think it looks really good!
You and your beautiful assistant are doing a wonderful job. You’ve come so far guys
In their business of This Off Grid Life, it's quite a put-down to refer to Katie as an assistant. They both bring strengths and experiences to the table and work as a team. For instance, Katie is the videographer and editor and yet you comment as if it's Greg's video. I hope if you have daughters, you give them the credit they deserve.
She's awesome, I wouldn't trade her for anyone!
Also you should sheat the outside of the walls before siding it’s for strength. I’m curious why no insulation and vapour barrier and tape. But you built it the way you wanted good on you guys
What a tremendous job on the barn. Your animals are so spoiled! Incidentally, I know you mentioned painting the siding. Why would you? Love the teal blue!
nice flock of birds, barn is looking good take care
Coming together nicely. When is the bus going away?
And just to let you know I was watching you guys put the windows in two of those windows when you install a window the windows are supposed to be closed so that way you don't have problems with them opening and closing when you mail them just to let you all know so that way you don't have problems keep up the good work though looks good y'all
I love the color,,I wouldn't paint it
Good work guys. Doing great. If you are in a fire prone area. Then you may need to have a fire break around the perimeter of .your home. Or for the siding of your home you can make it out of stucco. It's basically cement and it will fire proof your home. Just last year there was in the news about a wild fire that engulfed I don't know how many acres. But this one home remained standing compared to the area neighborhood. I mean all the other homes were a total loss but this one home because it's outer walls were made of stucco. It prompted the area ordinance to change it's building code. Just a thought to consider.
We are using fire proof siding on the barn and house, metal roof and we have cleared alot of trees/brush around the house. Not as much around the barn but our main concern is the house. Everything else can be rebuilt. The trees in the chicken run protect the birds from aerial predators
nice🏘
Hello my dear friends ❤
You made a mistake by not installing building paper or tubes underneath siding and flashing under windows. That shed will leak and have mold
It's still have to something else ever new siding and barn
Don't never say you will be alone not safe
Everyone deserves a break.... smoke tho sure puts a person to worrying
LOVE KATIES INTERACTION WITH THE ANIMALS. HER INTRO'S WITH THE VIEOS, ALL THE WORK SHE DOES. SHE IS AMAZING. SMART HARDWORKING YOUNG LADY. MY ONLY WIAH IS THAT WE COULD WATCH ALL THE VIDEOS IN SEQUENCE SO WE CAN SEE THE PROGRESS. OTHER THEN THAT ALL IS AMAZING. LOVE YOU GUYS.
When you put dirt up against the building like that it will hold moisture and rot foundation out.
Harding board siding requires that at all wall joints there be a waterproof flap material behind the joint which help’s shed water and keep it running it down the outside of the wall. Really reconsider your live roof idea as you live in a fire prone area, install a steel roof
I wouldve thought y'all would pack sawdust in between the siding and wall for some insulation.
I wonder if the fires in Canada are the same as in Lynn Massachusetts I thought right away when it was on the news it was set by a firebug some nut burger
Would like to see the view from the roof of the barn. Are the plans for a concrete floor still on?
your smoke has made it here, in Iowa.
The barn is looking very good. the windows and the siding make it look like a small house, Great work
Why aren’t you sifting the dirt? Love watching you two work
Alsome!!
Hi my dear friend how are you?❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey just to let you know something never put wood on your outside of your house because rats can climb straight up your wall I'm having that problem now I have rancher on my house and the rats cross straight up the wall and into my attic now I'm gonna have to put 3 foot at 10 all the way around my house just to keep the rats out of it And don't count on those screens on windows to keep rats out cause they chewed right through my screen on my back bedroom and came into the house and don't have doggie doors because it came right in the doggie doors
Hey I wish there was a way you could have done episode #
Great job so far by two people who work like horses 😊😊
