@@JacobysJourneys Maybe, but when I travelled to Honduras in '90, '93, '95 and '96 it was a lot safer than now. I have a family now and we've been to safer parts of Central America: Panama, Belize, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, although the latter is a bit unsafe now. Thanks for the video; it was nice to see the changes. There was no ferry in 1990 and the harbour by the airport was littered with crashed planes. My pilot put a couple of them in there so it was unnerving.
Just got back from nearly three months on Utila. This video is a good look at the island. There is more than is listed here; but this video gives you a taste. While you have to wear a mask on the ferry, and inside at some places, Utila is open and they friendly people there want you to visit. Plan your trip now! :-)
I remember many years ago, on the wharf in La Ceiba, boarding an open fishing-boat that was about 20' in length. It took a long time to get there, and the waves were considerable; we were drenched. I rented a stilt house near Blueberry Hill for $3 a day and got my water out of a well. Most of the divers were the local fishermen, who would take people out in their boats. I remember the diver by the name of Fred, who was one of the most colorful characters on the island. The islanders had a very distinct character and spoke a charming, British-influenced English. Sand flies reigned and life was very easy. There was always a good time in the Bucket of Blood. That's the Utila I would like to go back to.
Wow yeah I can imagine it has changed a lot over the years. It's still a cool place to explore, especially if you get out of the main "touristy" areas and see more of the area. Thanks for watching!
Another great video! Thanks! :) I love how you showed the transportation options. For some reason that's what gives me the most anxiety when traveling. I'm so use to having my car and going around town so easily. When staying at new places the local transportation is always a learning curve.

Hi Jacob - can I ask how did you get from Copan Ruinas to Utila in the same day? Did you book directly with Hedman Alas? We're in Copan Ruinas now, and the Hedman Alas schedule says it leaves at 11:30am from here and won't make the ferry in time for Utila. Thanks!
Hi Daryl, sorry I just saw your comment. I actually stayed the night in Ceiba to film another video. Im not sure what their schedule is, but yeah I've heard it's pretty tight to make it to Utila unless you start your day early. They also have smaller busses that run from Copan to San Pedro Sula, and they start at sunrise.
how are there multiple trips a day, when theres just one, get your shit sorted before you post a video about our island, if not its gonna leave tourists stuck in ceibe over night

My Father was born on Utila, I visited there 4 years ago and I see much has changed, cant wait to return in 2019
When I last was in Utila in 1990, I stayed in a treehouse for 25 cents. It looks a lot more modern now.

I went to Utila December 2020. Not a lot of tourists. We rented Golf cartas and explored the island
