    Love the video Rogan! Some friends are going to Utila next week, and we're wondering if there are places with good enough wifi to work remote?

    • @Roostersteele
      @Roostersteele  Před rokem +1

      Hey Donald! Thanks mate, really glad you enjoyed it. Luckily yes! The wifi in general was fantastic. Both myself and my partner work remotely and had no problems at our accommodation. But in general most places on the island have great connection.
      Also Claro SIM cards and data packages are cheap, so if it’s for an extended period of time this is another great option.

    We love Utila!! Bought a VRBO home there last year and it’s been a great experience. The food, drinks and people are amazing. We don’t dive per say - snorkeling and fly fishing are our activities. The DIY fly fishing is good and there’s an Orvis endorsed outfitter there: Fly Fish Utila. Maja is a great guide.

    There is a lot to do in La Ceiba!! We have Pico bonito,beautiful rivers, hot springs, canopy, white water rafting in the Rio Cangrejal, lovely hikes and more!!! Great video about Utila but you were wrong for saying that about La Ceiba! Next time try to spend a couple of days there and you will see.

      Hey Carolina, you’re right I suppose maybe I needed to give it more of a chance 🙂 a lot of the time our initial reaction of a place might not properly represent what that place has to offer. Thanks for watching ❤️

    hey Rogan, sweet video! the footage really captured the beauty of Utila, do you plan on returning to Honduras in the future? will you visit other Islands or mainland areas?

      @Roostersteele  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hey there! Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Right now I have no plan to return, but would love to explore some of the mainland one day. We didn't really see any of the country other than the islands.

    I lived here for almost 4 years working at underwater vision and the manager of treetanic. I’ve spent every day of the last 12 years trying to get back

      It’s an incredible place man I’m not surprised haha. Underwater vision is an absolute blast as well. We dove and stayed at Alton’s but we were there drinking Salvavidas every night!

    Rainbow Village in La Ceiba is a great, safe place to stay that caters almost entirely to people on their way to Utila. They’ll hook you up with a taxi to the ferry in the morning, and they have their own fantastic German/Honduran fusion restaurant.
    Do the Germans at the Iguana station still sell homemade fruit wine?

    • @Roostersteele
      @Roostersteele  Před rokem +1

      Hey mate! Thanks for the info, sounds like a really lovely place.
      Not 100% sure about iguana station as we didn’t go. But now that’s a reason we’ll have to head back for a visit 🙂

      @@Roostersteele sure thing. I was there over New Years 2013/14 for a week on my honeymoon, so I expect some things on the island have changed. Like Dr John isn’t a practicing doctor anymore and the people we rented the treehouse from have moved to Guatemala, but I really want to go back sometime.

    Hey Rogan. Nice video. Im going yo San Salvador and then to Utila.
    May be u could help me with these questions..
    How was the trip by bus to San Pedro Sulia?
    And
    Where do i have to arrive to catch the bus in San Salvador?

    • @Roostersteele
      @Roostersteele  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hey Dario, no problem!
      The bus to San Pedro Sula was actually one of the nicest buses we got in Central America. We went with the bus company Cristobal Colon. Highly recommend.
      The bus terminal in San Salvador isn’t really a bus terminal 😂 it’s a small hotel in the center of town called hotel San Carlos I believe. If you look up Tica bus I believe that’s the easiest way to find it.
      Good luck and enjoy your trip! 🙂

    Hello, me and my friend and her kid would like to go to Utila to have an introduction to diving. We are Canadians. What is the best resources to get honest information about Utila: best time to get there and how, best budget diving center and accomodation, etc. Whe are not experienced travelers and traveling with a kid, so we would like to have great tips and honest advises. Thank you a lot for your advises...

      @Roostersteele  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hey there! You’ve picked one of the best spots to learn. Utila is amazing for Beginners. There is loads of good information out there on CZcams and google. All I can give you is my own advice and experience.
      Transport - either fly to Roatan via west jet and then ferry to Utila.
      - Or fly to San Pedro Sula. Get a van to La Ceiba and then ferry to Utila (this is probably the cheaper option)
      Best budget dive center. Would probably be Captain Morgan’s dive center. Although I would highly recommend Alton’s. incredible staff, great food and the accomodation is excellent.
      Good luck, enjoy your trip ❤️

    kind of late, but do you know if there's a way to bring personal moto onto the island? Or would it be easier to just leave it in la ceiba for a few weeks?

    • @Roostersteele
      @Roostersteele  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hey Nick,
      Yes, I’m almost certain there is a local car/motorcycle ferry. I’m not exactly sure how much it cost how frequently it departs. But the ferry’s normally stop at Utila before heading onto Roatan which is a much bigger island and has lots of cars.
      Good luck!

    Do they accept usd there or how does money transfer usually work?

    • @Roostersteele
      @Roostersteele  Před měsícem

      Hey Trevor, when paying for larger sum things like excursions, diving, hotel stays etc. they tend to accept USD. But for day to day expenses like food and drink. It’s mostly a cash economy using their local currency. There are 1-2 ATM’s available on the island. Also a lot of places accept PayPal. Cheers!
