It's so simple. I own a company in Ca and this is what I would have done if the union said grant them immunity:
1. No immunity if they dont cooperate and I will ban the team for three years.
2. Remove the title
3. Remove the trophy
4. Remove the awards
5. Remove the banner
6. Remove the rings
The players will not be banned but let's see how the owner will handle this.

Yes.
There was no document for the investigation, at least ones that grant immunity for cooperation, that's what they're getting at. MLBPA wouldn't allow the league to even speak to the guys if there would be any punishment handed out to active players. There would have had to have been a clause in the current CBA stating that players must truthfully cooperate in investigations in order for there to have have been any kind of breech they could go after a lying player for.
I would hope the next CBA has language in it that would allow for punishment in these kinds of cases going forward, but it looks like there will be absolutely nothing done to these players, even if the buzzers are proven for 2019, as it could be taken to court if they go after these guys. At least that's what I'm piecing together from everything that has come out today.
Best we can hope for is stripping the title, and I don't even see Manfred doing that

There was no "immunity" deal in the first place. The players are still lying about it so clearly this is just some bullshit Manfred is spinning for damage control.
This is a very good question. My guess is yes because that's what happened to A-Rod with his steroid scandal in 2013. A-Rod received a much bigger ban than everyone else in the Biogenesis scandal because he was, in the words of the Commissioner's office, "attempting to cover-up his violations of the Program by engaging in a course of conduct intended to obstruct and frustrate the Office of the Commissioner's investigation." So in other words, A-Rod was being uncooperative and maybe even untruthful during the investigation. If it was found that any of the Astros players were lying during the investigation, I'm sure that that would give Manfred the leeway to start suspending players. But that would mean that second investigation would have to occur.
Wait until the fans start openly booing Manfred whenever he's in public.

Vacating the title is the right thing to do but we have to remember that the Red Sox are just as guilty of this in 2018...MLB won't vacate back to back titles...it will hurt the league a lot and they're trying to save face.

He said naturally picking up the signs on the regular TV feed then getting a man on second that's able to see the sign and knows what look for then can rely it to the batter quick enough. That's not as bad as setting up a seperate camera and using computer algorithms and a garbage can to rely messages on pitches in real time. Or potentially the use of buzzers.

The camera the Houston Astros set up is 100% against the rules (hence why they took it down after every game) then they were relying to the batter with a noise rather than the traditional method of having a man on second. There's a still a human element there rather than using a computer algorithm, illegal camera, and drumming.

I was watching ESPN yesterday morning and Stephen A. Smith gave the PERFECT answer to what the Players should do this upcoming Season to the Astros players. He said Pitchers shouldn't throw at them and nobody should slid dirty into 2nd base or collide with the Catcher. Manfred already said whoever does something like that will be pushed without warning. So instead of throwing at them and stuff like that, every team should come to the ballpark and not even acknowledge them. Don't shake their hands or chat with them before the game like players always do. Do converse with them whenever one of them gets on base, the Manager hands the lineup card to the Umpire from his Dugout because he doesn't want to shake hands with anyone on the Astros, and the players should all turn their back when it's time for the National Anthem. No one said players need to lineup along the 1st and 3rd base lines. Let the Astros line up for the National Anthem and then the other team lines up so they're facing the american Flag, but their backs are completely towards the Astros. Just don't even acknowledge them. They're not worth the time. THAT's how you treat the Astros this year without constantly getting ejected, fined and suspended from Regular Season games...

All baseball players should not play baseball till the Astros title is revoke.. that will damage MLB

Alex Cora is the reason why MLB won't strip the Astros. It sets a precedent and if they find Cora and the Red Sox did something similar, then they have to strip two titles and MLB doesn't want that.
The Houston Astros should've known better than to use technology in baseball.It's a policy and they could've gotten disqualified for it.

2 years later and I stand by what I said at the time. The penalty to the team should have been so severe that competing for the next decade should be near impossibke. They should have been banned as a team from post season play for 5 years (ggod luck attracting free agents to a team that isnt allowed in the post season) and had every single draft pick taken for the next 5 years and should have been banned from international FA signings for the next 5 years. Plus a massive fine.
Obviously all awards or trophies from that season should have been taken away.
Make the punishment so severe that no team would even dream of trying something like this going forward.
And before anyone asks, yes, I would feel that should be the Yankees, who I've rooted for since 1987, punishment if they did What Houston did.
Ban ALL of the players who played on THE 2017 team from playing in ANY PLAY-OFF play and ALL-STAR PLAY.
