  • Who else loves the square design? It is easily my favorite from this brand. The metal versions take it to the next level, even though they are arguably less practical and carry less 'value for money.' This DLC titanium B5000 costs about 15x the price of a classic 5610. And that one can do 95 percent of what this Titanium Camo version can. Logic dictates that is TCM1 is ridiculously overpriced. But when did this become a logical hobby? I don't think it ever was.... you need to go for the watches that hit you in the heart. This one certainly does for me. It's pretty amazing

The Bluetooth feature is awesome for people outside of multiband radio coverage, it keeps perfect time via Bluetooth with no hand holding required, it works just as transparently as multiband.

Beautiful shots Bruce! I'm also an outdoors enthusiast and took a five day island hopping, hiking adventure right when I bought my Ti stealth and bashed around a lot scrambling on rocks, and the DLC is still perfect. Casio should give their DLC a marketable name like Citizen does with their protective surface treatments (Duratect) and even invest into it a bit more. I'm a huge Casio fan boy, but Citizen really nails down value when it comes to Ti and treatments and I'd like to see Casio move in that direction more and give them some competition.
Anyway, my square was by no means a head decision, but alm heart and all that matters to me is the happiness it gives me when I put it on wrist for a hike. I hope you get a chance to check out the stealth because to me it is really gorgeous. I thought I'd like the camo more and planned on getting it, but I was surprised to find myself drawn to the stealth.

Great video Bruce, I know exactly what you mean about the price compared to it's resin cased sister watches. I have a few of the resin ones and a 5610 but have fallen into the rabbit hole for some of the full metal options, they just look incredible but can draw unwanted attention...... I have the full black titanium with the positive display and that one gets the most wrist time of all my G-Shocks. Totally under the radar, at a glance looks like a resin square but feels completely different. It's odd but I don't give a pair of dingo's kidneys what other people think or if they see it as a $50 watch, I know what's on my wrist and that's what matters. Terrific intro footage of the outdoors.

Very nice piece. The square is the only G I like. And I have the wrist to support their gigantic offerings.
I know I overpaid, but I love my Bud square. It is my camping, Summer watch. I figured if I bought one Casio for the collection, it would have to be the Bud one.

Hey Bruce, enjoyed your video. I like what G-Shock is doing with these titanium models. I reckon the price is mostly justified too, if a little steep, it's just a question of perception; they cost significantly less than the MR-G line, yet offer something closer to the original G-Shock DNA with incredibly high quality fit and finish. Incidentally, you might like the new GW-5000U. I just had one imported from Japan last week; it's probably the most comfortable, and true to the original 1983 screw-back, of any of the currently available squares, and modestly priced around the $300 mark. The module has been updated to incorporate many of the benefits of the GMW-B5000 line. I reckon you'd love it. Keep up the good work!

Great review - I had the blue camo (sold it). I have the all black Ti TCM-1 - love it - my absolute favorite bc of the positive display and the stealth nature of it. Best of luck in your search. I had the bling master - sold it as well and got the rose gold which I like better. Have an all SS for a beater (pos display). I also have the 'aged' model which I really like as well. I just love the squares.

Was a G Shock user in my younger more active years - had one on the bar pad of my off road race bike for two seasons and it performed flawlessly, couldn't fault it. As pure a tool you can get imho. Now I'm old and live a much more sedentary life I've little use for one so stick to automatics. Good video tho.

I think it is a great purchase. I have bought b5000g and it is going to be a watch for years. the only think i will have to do with it, is replacing the battery, but it is going to be in 20 years from now. I had swiss analog watch before, and it wasn't accurate, I had to leave it in service (another cost) every 6 years, it didn't have any backlight, it had lume, but we know how it works... i think G-Shock is a good choice for someone who wants to have a watch for long time and every conditions of terrain and weather.
