Exactly. It's weird Dr. Phil he'd endear himself to her by saying it was the mother's fault the family was dysfunctional. Instead of being touched by this, she gets offended he's suggesting SHE'S dysfunctional as if there's nothing wrong with her. That's not someone who's hurting and wants to be heard. That's someone who's entitled and likes negative attention.

Both options I don’t see her doing well with. In foster care the kids and/or the parents need to complete multiple steps to reunify. If those don’t happen then they stay in foster care for the most part. They need to see improvement in parents and the child. Both don’t seem like that’s gonna happen unless they want it.

Absolutely agree. My now ex-husband and I were married for 27 years and we had five children in 8 years. Our marriage was a little bit different than a lot of them because he wouldn't discipline the children I had to do it and I was strict I started disabling when they were two and he would let them have their own way and I would go back and re discipline them. The youngest was 18 when we got divorced. I don't have a very good relationship with them they strongly dislike me but he's their buddy because when they were growing up he was their friend. I guess I was the monster because I disciplined. I wonder if they'll ever see that I did them a favor and I wasn't being mean. I didn't even have to spank them very often but when I did they knew I meant business. Sometimes I think I shouldn't have disciplined them and they would like me now. Oh well

This just doesn’t seem like a family issue to me, rather an individual issue. This little girl is entitled, disrespectful, & self centered. Her mother just seems absolutely exhausted, & ready to throw in the towel (I don’t blame her). She’s threatening peoples lives, she clearly needs mental help asap before someone ends up being hurt.

Exactly. She probably saw that abuse & decided she’d rather be the aggressor than get physically hurt like her mom. I can’t believe no one in her family or on the show have made that connection yet. The fact that her mom didn’t help her process what she witnessed as a kid underscores what a crappy mom she was.

This girl has been failed by her parents but that doesn't excuse her behavior at all. The fact that she can't even hold a conversation in a simple interview without having a violent tantrum. She's frustrating to watch, but she clearly need help. There might be a neurological component to this too.

  • @bmk256

destoni clearly feels unloved and unwanted and as if she’s the only person looking out for herself (she is). the mother seems to only care about being right and valuing herself over her child and the father is in prison and does not love or want her. at times it seems like her mother doesn’t love her either and quite literally implies to destoni that she doesn’t want her. the mom threatens her with foster care which is doubling down on destoni already having deep abandonment and low self esteem issues. if my dad left me, my mom didn’t seem to love me very much either, and my mom was threatening to put me in foster care when fighting with me, i’d sure as hell feel unwanted too. my guess is that destoni has a combination of or at least one of the following: borderline personality disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and/or on the spectrum.

Problem is that this is not a play where she's playing a character on stage and goes back to her normal self after the curtain falls when the play ends.

Spanking is not abuse snow flakes. A take down by the parents is nothing like a take down by a stranger on the street.
