I wanted my cleric to have a gun
Clerics aren't proficient in martial weapons
Made myself a variant human, and took the feat that gives you 4 different weapon proficiencies
Now my cleric has gun.
Or you could be a tempest cleric who have prof with martial weapons
"I'm a healer, but..."
in other words, they're a pharmacist but the "p" is silent
Or Gunner feat?.....
A holy avenger who smites foes with his holy bullets
"the only downside of the yuan-ti is that it's neutral evil"
me planning to play rogue: "I see this as an absolute win"
"Ah yes, i shall take the first sip to prove its not poisoned" :)
I play a neutral good bard Yuan Ti that run away from her human eating Yuan-ti tribe. She is now persecuted by her older brother a Black Mamba Naga.
@The Infinity Sock you could go with pure blood yuan to and argue they're only kinda good and more neutral slightly chaotic.
They wanna usurp the abominations. And plan to make use of other races and such to achieve their goal.
Make them a sigma type. Self centered and such still but realizes that the yuan ti might have some flaws within the system that make them weaker then they could be.
Plus put in an inferiority/superiority complex where they think they're actually better then the abominations due to being more human and being able to interact with outside parties. But highly aggressive to other yuan ti that try and make them feel inferior.
it is I was never killed ! I had mage Slayer spell casters hated me ! D,m still hates me I want to play Snake people !
Im surprised Half-Elves aren't on here with their +2/+1/+1, darkvision, can take all human *and* elven racial feats, +2 skills, etc.
Before CL they may have had a spot towards the bottom of the list, and even now they are probably in the top 12 but just don't quite make the top 10 imo.
They were definitely better pre-Tasha's.
I strongly agree. Half-elves are versatile and useful for many reasons. You’re always going to want that charisma, and the extra skills, feats, and stats are great to have. Dark vision is also really handy, I would’ve expected this at least in the top ten above Kobolds or something.
@@nonomen6665 power creep in races is pretty ridiculous, some races get magic resistance, goblin does extra damage on almost every attack equal to its level (even mid level goblin fighters get like +20 guaranteed DPR), simic hybrid is just ridiculous, yuan-ti pureblood are straight up IMMUNE to poison damage, warforged, tortle, shifter etc. are just really good. half-elves are great, but with all the crazy and out-there options, it's kind of hard to put it in the top 10. it is one of the most reliably good though,
@@timob1681 So many of these abilities are per-long rest though?

Sorry. I didn't mean to do that.
The editor notes are good but he really needs to work on his typos. There are many.
You can't take Racial Feats if you take Custom Lineage. This has been clarified by Jeremy Crawford.
I added that part in as an afterthought while doing the final edit of the script, so I didnt double check it. Makes sense, Raw DnD rulings are very direct.
@@TheDDLogs Fair enough. Thanks for responding! Love the content.
I told my group I would allow the racial feats with custom lineage since you're trading all the other racial abilities for that feat.
Ever notice how they never say "Yeah that sounds like an awesome idea, go for it!" It's always "nope no fun"
@@xandermichael836 I think they figure if people think it’s fair they’ll do it anyway but if they say it’s supposed to be raw people will feel like you have to allow it, even if there turns out to be a very broken combination they didn’t foresee
Winged tiefling is just a esthetically one of my favorites. You can take a tiefling specific trait and have 3 resistances which is even more broken.
Infernal resistance?
Brendan Toney Infernal Constitution. It gives you resistance to cold and poison alongside their baseline fire resist. The advantage on saves against being poisoned is also pretty nifty.
to point out the aaracokra being able to kill a tarresque single handedly,
i'd say the tarresque is big and strong enough to pick up giant rocks or even houses and throw it at the aaracokra as improvised weapons. a raven has an int of 2 and they know how to use objects to their advantage so a tarresque with an int of 3 can do so as well
He could just prepare an action on his turn to use his reaction to attack when the Aaracokra attacks too
@@robertosilva2678 Aaracokra is using a ranged weapon so not happening. Also isn't tarrasque just straight up immune to non-magical weapons.
Edit: Yup looked it up. Was also surprised that it doesn't have regeneration in this edition.
Edit 2: watched the video again and realized it specified +1 longbow. Am stoopid I guess.
@@PyryKorh Oh, i forgot that it was a longbow, lol
But if we're going rules it's written the aaracokra can outrange it
i believe with the rules on jumping a tarrasque would probably be able to just jump high enough to grab the aaracokra
Btw, the kobald doesn’t need to be within 5 ft. Just the ally does, you can get pack tactics from ranged attacks
And that’s why my DM hates my kobold warlock
@@enderlord6161 lol
Kobald rogues seem ridiculous to me. Basically advantage and sneak attack guaranteed.
@@albionshero31 RAW rogues can already launch sneak attacks on any enemy within 5 feet of your allies so long as you don't have a disadvantage. So while pack tactics cancels the few times you'd be denied a sneak attack, it's mostly redundant.
Plus, if you're concerned about that, then boy oh boy don't look Inquisitive and their Insightful Fighting !
@@gryffehondor4236 i know but I’m saying not only do they get sneak attack now but they’ll have advantage on the attack, which means more nat 20s so it seems pretty strong, and even when they’re in sunlight then it’s just normal ops for all rogues.
5:18 Pfffftttttt I like this editor.
16:23 aminal friendship
Australian friendship
People sleep on Gnome. It's not Satyr, but they still get magical resistance on all of their mental stats. Particularly Forest Gnome with free Minor Illusion and talking to animals.
I agree with this. I've been playing as a Forest Gnome for one of my campaigns, and I swear he's one of the most fun characters I've played.
Being a "small" Gnome Arcane Trickster allows you to pick yourself up with a Mage Hand and get flying super early.
Being small has so many advantages its crazy, especially if you get "cover" behind your larger party members and drop prone after shooting to get full cover, its borderline broken.
Yeah playing a deep gnome and th fact it has the gnome cunning, superior dark vision, and advantage at stealth when next to rock surroundings is amazing. And if your a spell caster you get mold earth and boom instant cover as your small enough to hide behind it.
Unfortunately the “custom elf” for elven accuracy question has been answered by Jeremy Crawford. RAW you choose custom lineage instead of the other published races, and don’t qualify for racial feats of current published races.

"Which makes it the only race that allows you to start off with an 18 in one of your ability scores."
*Laughs in Changeling*
I was gonna say this. But it's still only in Charisma, not that it's a problem. Custom lineage is just more flexible
If your DM is allowing custom lineage, there's no reason for them to deny you putting that +3 into any stat you want per the new rules in Tasha's.
@@thevisual5426 if you're using custom lineage you have a shitty DM with a shitty table and you may as well pack up early, children
Does nobody know what 3x6 is? I do, IT IS 18.
@@topogigio7031 or you are just playing for fun and this is the way your table have fun...
One race I definitely think is interesting, especially from an roleplay perspective, is the Changeling from Eberron. Being able to freely change your appearance could have a lot of out of combat uses, with the added benefit of it not being an illusion or magic, so it can't be dispelled.
one of my favorite characters is a changeling who uses illusion and other random magic to act as a poltergeist. catapult is brilliant, just go invisible and toss items around a room. hes a sorcerer as well so he can use metamagic on stuff to have some more fun with it.
Can you please redo this video now that “Monsters of the Multiverse” has changed many of these races?
For instance, Eladrin should now be in consideration since their “Fey Step” is no longer a leveled spell which opens up a HUGE amount of options for them…plus the two free weapon and/or tool proficiencies.
LOVE your videos…keep up the great job!
Grovel, cower, and beg: fel trying to have kobolds put higher on the list
Probably would be if it wasn’t for sunlight sensitivity
It's like "I'm a widdle goblin" but for kobolds, and it kinda works.
@@juleslaverdiere695 "PLEASE SIR I AM LEVEL ONE KOBOLD I KNOW NOT WHY I AM RAID THIS DUNGEON OH HO"
"rak you're a level 12 barbarian you are literally the party tank"
"...rodney, you ever think your mother's casserole tasted terrible because you kept interrupting her when she tried to make it?"
I'm surprised the Vedalken isn't on the list. It has advantage on all intelligence, wisdom, and charisma saving throws, it can breathe water for up to one hour, it can live up to 500 years, and it gets a free proficiency from a large skill list and proficiency in a tool, and it adds 1d4 to the check every time it uses that chosen ability/tool.
Reasons why:
1) advantage on int/wis/cha saves for magic is nice, but it ignores dex and con saves, which are the bulk of the damaging spells. There are also several race that get the same trait (gnome) or better (yuan-ti and satyr).
2) One hour of water breathing is incredibly circumstantial and, honestly, if your dm is giving you a situation where you will be underwater for an extended period, they'll likely also provide a way for you to not drown.
3) A long lifespan only really matters in circumstances where magical aging comes into play, which are incredibly rare.
4) Arcana, Medicine, and Performance are largely fluff skills that most people will pick up with a background if they want them. While the other three and the tool proficiency are better, you'll likely already be playing a class that supports them, and while the extra d4 is nice, getting it for only a single skill and tool really hampers it alongside not scaling as well at later levels.
TL;DR: Most of the racial features are either too niche or can be found on stronger races.
As a DM to a Vedalken wizard I feel the need to say that while I don’t think they’re a top ten race, I think they’re definitely in the top 15 to 20. First off, Vedalken cunning and gnome cunning are two different things. Gnomes get advantage on those saves against magic. Vedalken get advantage on ALL int, wis and Cha saves. I admit that being semi amphibious can be campaign dependent, but largely if you have a DM that’s giving you water breathing potions every time you need to dive, I’d argue they’re robbing you of the opportunity to work the problem in the first place. Next, admittedly my party is only level 6 (and only as of last session) but the extra d4 to investigation and took checks has already come in handy on multiple occasions. It’s been the difference between getting most of the information out of a situation and getting all of the information. He’s also saved the party from what could have been a deadly situation without even knowing it with the help of this feature. There’s no denying that this is a solid racial choice if you have a DM that’s willing to let you solve your own problems and have you rolling more than just perception checks throughout their campaign.
I think the main issue with that feature is that those are the three least used saving throws. Idk when the last time I saw a intelligence save but I see Dex saves on most adventures.
I’d agree with this as well. I’m not super versed in all the spells and such but most the saves I’ve needed to make have been dex or con saves. Occasionally there’s a wisdom or charisma save but even then they’re pretty situational
Video suggestion, what about a Top 10 Underpowered/weakest class archetypes ? that would be neat
I like that
And at number 1 we have all monks.
@@selwrynn6702 Nah, Monk gets some good subclasses, like Astral Self. Honestly I'd argue it's in a better place than rangers are, especially with dedicated weapon being a thing.
@@selwrynn6702 y everyone hate monks mine was awesome in Decent into Avernus
@@selwrynn6702 Monks are great I think! They can attack with an unarmed strike as a bonus act. with martial arts and the ttg get an extra attack at 5th level. So, with some restrictions, they can attack 3 times per turn and do a ton of damage. Plus, they get an extra boost to armor class and their subclass stuff.
Logs: "It takes a legendary item."
Me: "Does the rare item of mantle of spell resistance just not exist anymore?"
Okay friend let me just say! Your videos are concise, easy to follow and gives contexts with detailed visual and audio examples. Like what?? Go off king, overall pleasure. Yyyyyyyeeeaaaahhh I’mma subscribe.
I'd be inclined to give goblins a spot on this list; getting (essentially) Cunning Action for free with no class dips leads to a LOT of tactical versatility.
I’m thinking of playing a goblin for my next campaign partly because of this. This trait would be incredibly useful
I would love to see a Top 10 Most Underrated Spells in D&D 5e list. Highlight the spells that are often overlooked and/or disrespected, but actually very useful if used creatively or if used as part of a multi-class build.
This is the first video of yours that I have seen. Just subscribed. Thanks for the great content.
I made the mistake of looking at kobolt art.
And I failed my saving throw against being charmed. 😅

Hearing the voice of Duel Logs doing a DnD list made my day. didnt even know this channel existed. instant sub
Ok, so Wow, yu gi oh and now D&D, I wonder on which other of my hobbies I'll find you doing videos of next.
Love your style man, keep it up :D
23:45 Jeremy Crawford said you can't be a custom Elf and pick up a race specific feat
I knew I recognized that font but then I heard your voice and it all became clear to me
“...poison spray can trip.”
Bro, you gotta hit this spray can. Its on another level.
aerosol cans really are poison too, and hallucinating iirc is the result of your brain reacting to being poisoned
The editor notes are simply genius!!! Best part of the content
hirumared making dnd vids? lets gooo!!!!
Random dnd top 10 video showed up in my feed. Thought I should see that. Start video, Hiru starts talking. I actually did a double take. Guess I found my new favorite DnD channel!
Kobolds basically give the Rogue a free sneak attack
Sneak attack already activates when an ally is within 5 feet. The advantage does make it easier to hit the attack, and if you have disadvantage for whatever reason it can't activate, so the advantage might cancel that out and allow you to activate it. It overall makes sneak attacks more common, but it doesn't give you a free sneak attack.
@@Comrade_Dolphin you're not wrong, but there is something to correct you on
A Sneak Attack requires an advantage on an attack roll, unless there is an ally within 5 of the target and the target isn't incapacitated
Pack Tactics is an advantage for a Kobold specifically
The Groveling ability grants an advantage to a Rogue, which will allow a Sneak Attack to proc, granted that the Rogue HITS
Of course, this is a moot point, in the event that something does grant a disadvantage at the same time as this advantage
Is it free?
Not totally, but it's about as free as it gets

I was so confused clicking on this and hearing Hiru bc I was previously only aware of his WoW content
It’s so weird to hear someone call him hiru because I’ve always known him as DuelLogs which is where this channel name comes from
Hoo i knew it!. I heard this voice before, you are the guy that makes tier lists for Yu-gi-oh cards!
Its been years since i have watch one of your videos.
If youre playing an aasimar, you can take the Angelic Protection feat, which gives you the same advantages vs spells and magical effects that Satyrs get
Warforged are even good to use in a 3.5 setting as well. A BIG plus is running it as a barbarian. Warforges cannot become fatigued like any other race after coming out of a rage.
great video! now ill be waiting for a top 10 human races
Quality vid. Subbed 👍
This exists!? I had no idea this channel also existed
0:48 No problem, editor
For the kobolds sunlight sensitivity is if your dm allows the powerful magic item the “ glasses of sunlight blocking” works really well to counter it
I have heard of this powerful Item it gives you also +100 Style
@@thoro1932 and gives advantage to intimidation when worn at night
It's always seemed silly to me that sunlight sensitivity exists like, how does everyone not just wear a cloak hood and sunglasses. Honestly though you should only need sunglasses unless sunlight is magically afflicting you or something.
Oh shoot I only knew you for Yu-Gi-Oh, now that I know you do DND, subscribed!
oh it's hiru , never knew you had this channel , great vid
( feels weird not hiring you for 20mn talking about the history of some random spell )
Magic resist also comes with the : Mantle of Spell resistance, a (i think) Rare item
I genuinely believe that people overvalue the free feat from VH/CL.
They do not. Or at the very least, 5e doesn't, when it specifically exist as a supposedly-equal alternative option for the Ability Score Increase. Especially for classes like Monk, that need all five of their ASIs to keep pace between DEX attacking, WIS AC and saves, and CON survivability, ignoring if you want to be at all smart, strong, or charismatic. See also: Ranger, Paladin, and Barbarian, that all have to make do with the standard 5 ASIs per build to split between 2-3 stats. Vuman pretty much makes a mockery of the PHB races when compared to a free feat that lets you customize your playstyle even slightly.
@@BeaglzRok1 It's that exact reason why I'm trying to find the right balance with homebrew. I'm trying to come up with a rule where players can get guaranteed feats while leveling up, without sacrificing their ASI. All classes give 5 ASI, with exceptions being Rouge having 6 & Fighters having 7. You are definitely hindering yourself toward late game if you pick up a feat as anything other than those 2 (purely looking combatively. RP heavy games are their own thing).
@@Vort23 From my experience, letting players start with better stats really helps to solve that problem. Point Buy/Array are great for single-stat dependant characters like your typical only-int wizard or only-dex archer rogue/fighter, but they suck for characters like monks, paladins, barbarians, melee clerics... who all need more than just one good stat.
VHuman helps with that, *but* only is that good for martials, who can start with a feat like polearm master, great weapon master, sharpshooter, crossbow expert, or, in the case of the monk, mobile, because these feats are so powerful and integral to the respective builds; and players love to have the base of their builds work as early as possible. If you pick a Mountain Dwarf or Half-Elf as your race, you basicially have an additional ASI compared to the vhuman/custom lineage *and* other racial traits on top of that, but you would need to wait until later to pick the feat you need for your build.
Characters who don't need a feat that much like most spellcasters actually are better off not being vhumans or custom lineages, but rather picking other races with useful features - whether it is a fly speed, damage resistance, racial weapon or armor proficiencies...
I play an elven wizard for example, and Trance has been incredibly useful so far. In Frostmaiden, it should be difficult to find time and space to scribe spells into my book - but not for my elf, who only rests for four hours and spends another 4 hours each long rest scribring spells, while the other characters finish their rest (if he has some scrolls or other books to scribe from), thus not halting the party's progress at all, while always being safe within our Tiny Hut or Galder's Tower. Also, being an Eladrin and thus getting a Misty Step-like teleport for free that actually is *not a spell* and thus allows me to cast a leveled spell on the same turn has been very useful so far.
Also, one of my recent and most awesome moments happened when I was playing an aasimar warlock and using my flying speed, I held our bard in the air above an army of orcs, far out of the reach of their vicious greataxes, while she shattered them to death.
the very idea of this video defies everything holy about dnd.
Waiiiit I recognize this voice. I didn’t know the duel logs guy had a dnd channel! Sick!
Yo the duellog guy has a seconded channel. Instant subscription.
somehow i knew the homebrew catgirl race would find it's way to the top spot...

Changelings (and I believe simic hybrids) are also able to start with an 18 to an ability score
no, just eberron changelings
Another great D&D vid, thanks. Also obligatory nod to the editor again. Love pausing to catch his quick notes. Not to hate on your other channel but it does add nice flavor when the editor knows about the game and talks about it.
On my yugioh channel none of my editors play the game so they cant really add in notes. But my WoW editors add in little notes all the time too since they play the game! But none of them do as many as the DnD editor tho.
@@TheDDLogs Yeah, you've referenced it before. I don't watch the WoW channel anymore. Nothing on you, I've just fallen out of love with WoW. Well with Blizzard generally unfortunately. Still hard into Duel Links, farming the new Gradius Go! skill for what I think will be a great meme. D&D has always been interesting. BTW, are you into 40k? I assume you don't need another channel, but your style of video for that monstrosity seems like a good fit. Anyways, cheers.
the terrasque doesn't TECHNICALLY have a ranged attack, but what's gonna stop it from chucking a building at you realistically? people stick too strictly to stat blocks sometimes.
Flying's great until an intelligent enemy faction starts using more archers, nets, and spellcasters with cc's against your no-cover out in the open flying bird-man.
You left out the best feature for the Aasimar. They get an angel spirit guide
To be honest I am just glad aasimar made the list as that is my favorite race
Or a nagging nanny. It's one of those things that can go seriously pear-shaped depending on your DM
Technically as a DM you should consider the specifics of Volo's that discusses that monstrous races should also have issues with talking to commoners. When I DM I typically make checks higher for persuasion and lower for intimidation for monsterous PCs, unless they are talking to their race. Just keeps things interesting haha.
what if a kobold pc takes the folk hero as a background?
@@chongwillson972 They become a Folk hero to the Kobolds. 😂
@@leodouskyron5671 that's just mostly removing that feature though.
Social situations, this is an excellent point.
Dankwood Goblins might sound OP aF.
But consider that you can't simply go get stuff from the gettin' store. Even if you could it's not Gobi sized or weight.
Honestly I'd rather reward players with good roleplay, training, as well as origin stories, origin stories that could involve a faith and or your works; as well as how those works take an affect on the rest of society.
There's so much lore people don't take into account for, they just assume they can play a flying murder hobo demon than walk into Waterdeep like their rep doesn't precede them or that they don't have a bounty on them in this world or a Divine one for that.
If you look up the Drow on the wikis you'll find they only really have one matriarchial city worshiping Llolth of mention still standing the others were befallen of some tragedy or the matriarchy was overthrown. From what I read about Sshamath: you provided you're willing to accept you're walking into a Drow city with Drow rules all you really need to do is show your Wizzard spell book at the door provided you don't happen to be a surface elf. To my knowledge this has been lore since the nineties, and it made for good role play. Buying a bunch of books from TSR and later WoTC to try and min-max feats stacking your way up to a cookie cutter prestige class that's a glass cannon and only good at one thing, or buying all the new books to seek out a broken rule set to exploit isn't it's not even fun for that matter.
*Kobolds:* Pack Tactics states that you have advantage on "an attack roll", not just "a melee attack roll", so it works with ranged attacks as well, making it even better. Also, if you'd prefer your kobold character to be less pathetic and more like they were in 3.5 (remember "Races of the Dragon"?), just rename "Grovel, Cower, and Beg" to "Cunning Distraction". And don't forget that, for attack rolls, the disadvantage from Sunlight Sensitivity gets cancelled out by the advantage from Pack Tactics.
*Fly Speed:* This has honestly been hyped up so much it's basically a meme at this point. It has no drawbacks as far as the rules go, but in actual practice it's not quite as overpowered as people think. You basically become a target to all ranged attacks and spells; sure, an Aarakocra with a +1 Longbow can theoretically solo a Tarrasque, but he'll get wrecked by a couple of Elves. Also, as mentioned earlier in the video, many if not most adventures take place indoors, where you'll be limited by the height of the ceiling. Fly Speed _is_ a strong ability, that's certainly not in question, but it doesn't deserve _all_ of the hype it gets. (Side note: my group has a house rule that while flying you occupy space as though you were a Large creature because of your wingspan, which means you can't fly in spaces smaller than a 10 foot cube, and also makes you a larger target. This only applies to character races, since creatures like pegasi, gryphons, manticores, etc. already have their wings accounted for.)
*Custom Lineage:* If I remember correctly, the Changeling is the only other race that allows you start with an Ability Score at 18, though that's up for debate. The specific wording is "Your Charisma score increases by 2. In addition, one ability score of your choice increases by 1." It doesn't say "one other ability score", which leads many people to interpret that you can give the +1 to Charisma. And like the Warforged, it's Eberron-specific, so you need your DM's approval anyway.
Yeah I was gonna say, flying in combat I feel like just removes cover (unless you’re flying really far with something like eldrich blast to our range most ranged weapons and spells). However for campaigns where you’re searching for something or someone in the wilderness flying could be pretty OP
The Reborn gives you most of the Warforge perks plus advantage on death saves and lets you add a d6 to ability checks
Plus if you use it to overwrite a race you get a 50 foot fly speed
changeling also can get 18 in charisma at level 1
Was looking for this
Came here for this
Changelings can have a 18 CHA to start out. Solid list! I’d say that some of the Mark of X races are S tier for certain builds - Warding for abj wiz or shadows for double bladed scimitar vengeance pallies etc.
Changelings got an errata, thats not a thing anymore. Also thanks!
Suggestion.... the raw mentioning of this name gave me instant nightmares...
I remember the day when, in the middle of a raid to a noble's mansion, i decided to put a bunch of soldiers against the Wizard, because he was the one causing trouble.
Than, he said: "i cast Mass Suggestion", and the poor soldiers couldn't resist against the spell of a 14th level Wizard (that was his level, if i remember well).
They failed their saving throw, and the elven scholar who now was acting as a real thief spelled, with evil in his mouth: "you guys are needing some exercise. Run a marathon, maybe all the way from Eradius city to the town of Aesus".
With these words, all the guards took off their armor and went to the vestuary, put some exercise clothes, and then, everyone started running....... for like 5 days..........
The best part of it was in the end of the campaign, when the small town where the guards were was dominated by the BBEG, and when they came back there, i made a... little joke.
"In the middle of the piles of corpses and the crowds being arrested, you, Eryn (the Wizard), recognize some voices. 'Man?! What are we doing in Aesus?!! Why are we being arrested? We are guards of Eradius, you can't do this to us!' followed by one of Aela's officers shouting 'take these morons to the block, any human soldier must be executed!'"
In the memories of the players, maybe the poor Eradius soldiers were forgotten, but in my heart, as rhe master... they will always live..... as legends.....
That's kind of nice of you to allow that use of the suggestion as "sounding reasonable." Makes for a funny episode in a campaign xD
...and I just realized Mass Suggestion is not a concentration spell (unlike Suggestion)... that's... interesting o.o
@@lemonZzzzs i didn't even know Suggestion was a concentration spell.
Kinda makes sense tho, if it weren't, people wouls just spam the base spell to manipulate a group, instead of spending such a high level slot. XD
@@heyfell4301 yep! Makes it _very_ limited in its usefulness in my opinion (not casting _any_ other concentration spells for the next 8 hours is tough xD).
Am I imagining it, or do you also make World of Warcraft lore and such videos as well? I swear I have heard your voice before. Regardless of whether I'm right, you definitely get a sub, lol
The cool thing about Theros is everyone is born with a supernatural gift & one you can pick is anvilwrought. Which pretty much adds all unique warforged traits to any other race without really costing that race any special features.
Shadar-Kai is easily top 10 with it’s op blessing of the Raven queen ability which gives it 4 free misty steps a day and each give you resistance to ALL damage until the start of your next turn. Op
I'm surprised that changeling wasn't on the list. That race tends to be my go to for every character creation.
If you want to fly but also want to wear heavy armor, the Owlfolk (UA) can wear heavy armor and still fly. Plus, the flying speed matches your walking speed instead of being set.
also +1 subscriber
Same thing goes to the fairy, though if it's somehow knocked out of the sky then it doesn't get the benefit of slowing it's fall unless it's a monk.
Ahhh you mean the UA that's literally plagiarism of Humblewood?
@@topogigio7031 ??? explanation please ???
@@general.catallion_8054 Google Humblewood. The animal races are complete 1 to 1 ripoffs of their settings' mechanics. It's been wildly popular the last few months especially but came out more than a year ago
@@topogigio7031 The only similarity between the UA and Humblewood is humanoid animals. The Birdfolk from Humblewood can't even fly, they can only glide (and some of them can move upwards as a bonus action, but they can't use it while gliding).
In my first campaign I played a tiefling draconic sorcerer. At level 13, the variant teifling was released and it kinda felt like a slap in the face to have a better version of my 14th level ability be something inherently available to the variant of the race I was playing.
I just realised- Pack tactics with a battlesimth and you could even take the mounted combatant so you can be a kobold lancer on a mechanical animal with advantage on everything
Currently playing a halfling and the lucky trait was really useful last session when I rolled 8 natural 1s throughout the session.
Good to know my favorite race, warforged, are one of the best.
For Kolbold I was thinking about being a Battle Smith to have a mount and the mounted feat, but pact tactics already give you the main thing for that feat so I'll try that with a gnome in a future I think, kolbold armor subclass of artificer
Kobold Paladin? Get Mounted at 4th, Find Steed at 5th, profit. You don't even need Animal Handling with FS, either
"This is the only race that gives immunity to a damage type"
Grung: oh ok, I see how it is
Grungs are technically not official.
To counteract the Kobolds sunlight sensitivity my Kobold Sorceror Vakri came to use a Robe of Eyes, he just shut his real eyes in the robe and when he gained wings at later levels he just put the robe on backwards so it draped over his face.
Kobold advantage sums up:
- Ape strong together
- Door stuck! Door stuck! PLEASE I BEG YOU
I stumbled upon this randomly and immediately recognised the voice. How many channels does this man have??
On Aasimar I like the Protector (Drakewarden is so good with them) most but I have to tip the hat for fallen because fear is a hell of an effect and the Scourge is under rated with a Barbarian build (you take one point of damage and to a lot more to all your targets).
For Descent Into Avernus, our DM allowed my Barbarian to be a Half-Orc/Half-Gnome. He has the Relentless Endurance feature of the Half-Orc as well as the Gnome Cunning feature from the Gnomes so he has advantage on Int, Wis, and Cha saves versus Magic. He was also given the Powerful Build feature that allows him to use a great weapon or large weapon one-handed. Gnome Cunning is very useful in a Barbarian since no one will expect an ugly Barbarian to be able to shrug off spells with Int, Wis, or Cha saves.
In the aquatic campaign I’m running one of my players is a warforged who premix just a living diving suite. He can survive high pressure environments perfect for reap sea exploration however he can’t swim and sinks really fast.
22:57 a changeling can start with a +3 to charisma, RAW.
I believe that was changed so that the extra +1 is to a different score
In my current campaign I play an aarakocra cleric which is fun! For my next run I plan to play a grandpa Loxodon druid I'm super excited to do that
I'm currently playing through my first dnd campaign with an aarakocra artificer, basically a Choizo from metroid
One trick I actually discovered involving flight speed. If you have a Battle Master Fighter with a natural flight speed, according to rules as written, your character never technically stops moving at the end of their turn if they're mid-flight, so you can use the Evasive Footwork ability just to give you a big AC boost until you start attacking lol
The changeling also gets a +3 to any ability score using custom origin, on top of its other amazing abilities
Changeling got an errata to no longer do that.
With the mountain dwarf abd the custom origins you can change its Dwarven weapon proficiency to any tool you want, you can get natural proficiency in 4 ir 5 tools because if you choose a martial class, you get proficiency in all martial weapons anyways.
I’m assuming that when you’re talking about the custom lineage you’re using standard set instead of rolling for stats.
Because if you roll for stats, you could start with an 18 before you even add racial/feat bonuses.
Yes but it can still take you from 15 -> 18 or 17 -> 20 which no other race can do.
Makes sense that some of the later races have a bit of powercreep to them.
With that said, I'm probably never gonna be upset for being an Eladrin Elf. Obvious feat aside, just having a free Misty Step in my backpocket once a day came in handy so often.... and I'm only a level 6 Gloomstalker.
I'd like to shout out High Elves, a basic race that still is broken. It's stat boosts are fine, but a free cantrip, sleep immunity, a four hour long rest that let's you keep watch, dark vision, and tons of proficiencies gives it a crazy amount of versatility, especially when playing dex fighters or battle mage builds.
Pretty sure you can start with an 18 Charisma if you pick the Changeling race as the second ability score increase does not exclude Charisma. But it is pretty bonkers
Some ideas I had floating around:
Worst PC races
Hardest monsters to fight
Ranking the pre written books
Best subclasses
In my games I allow a free feat at character creation specifically so that people don't feel pressured into being a variant human or custom origin race.
I also allow races from a third-party module called Odyssey of the Dragon Lords, which includes Medusa, Siren, a variant Centaur, a variant Minotaur and a variant Satyr which is actually not overpowered.
Now to wait for the top clases 😬
Oh no lol, I can see the complaints already
Kobolds are badass I loved playing them even before the changes
I would like to see you explore the Changeling race in a video. I would like some clarification on its features and traits as one of my new players is playing as them and I don't have E:ROTLW.
