“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also thank you for all your support. Yes I do.. for one no one has heard every singer in the world. So it’s an un-quantifiable statement. If she’d said some of the best singers in the world, would have been more correct. The Philippines has some very talented singers, and if they were in any of a half dozen other western countries they’d be super stars.

Regine Velasquez, dubed as "Asia's songbird" but basically queen of Philippine music. There is no singer here in the Philippines that does not bow at her feet. She is recognized as "THE" vocal talent here. There are so many videos of her, and reactors have fallen in love with her talent so much, that they have literally flown from their countries, to visit the Philippines, just because Regine was holding a major concert. You are going to enjoy her....

It's like she's just there singing effortlessly. She sang ARAW-GABI (Day and Night). Not her original song, but she's the one who revived it (well that was years ago, too), made it a girl's version, and made it popular again. I think the original artists were the APO HIking Society whom the TNT Boys copied in a YFSF performance.

I got a chance to watch her live performance here in LA last yr , she is incredible although her voice is way different from her 20's, but what the heck she is an icon and in my bucket list, that was one for the books, I was able to meet and greet her after the concert now I can die hahaha charot , but seriously she is one of a kind . This is one the most legendary covers of Regine. She is every Filipino's idol when i was younger. She said when she was young her father trained her to sing in a chest deep swimming pool.

Huhu. Still waiting for your reaction and analysis of her broadway medley with Martin Nieverra. If Regine is the Concert Queen, Martin is the Concert King. And having them both in one concert is like Concert Royalty. Although Martin once said that it's tiring to do a concert with Regine because he almost can't keep up with her. They're still my favorites even if they're past their prime. Looking forward to your reaction and analysis soon.

it is from a segment called back to back to back from a show called SOP. it is a sunday noon time show that started in the late 90's and ended in 2010 where the usual highlight of the week is that segment.

Omg Becca you are one of the few reactors more so Vocal Coaches who have described Regine's voice accurately as bright. Regine's voice indeed is profiled as Soprano C Coloratura. She has that feminine bright colorful tonality. That impresses me because people who has that ear for music and singing can destinguish and describe a certain voice correctly. Although I kinda have a feeling though that you werent very impressed by this version which I understand because Regine here is really bored. She was not feeling really well here and this was more of like a vocal show off as supposed to a genuine performance that she really does. This was only in a noon time variety show and she sometimes really sings pokered face and bored. Nevertheless this can give you an idea that her vocal placement here is different to that of the first video you reacted of her which is Piece of Sky. She is one of the few in the Philippines who is capable of different vocal placements. Thus she is respected and even recognized again accross Asia and even the world. Thank you so much and we hope that you react to her What Kind of Fool I Am where she wore red gown. You will see her in her most vulnerable self as a vocalist and you will understand why she is loved and respected royalty as a queen in the country.

She's Philippines best selling artist of all time and has sold more than over a million albums in Asia which makes her a LEGIT ASIA'S SONGBIRD and not just merely branded by her own fans... Also, she's the most beautiful Filipina singer, why? She can pull off any hairstyle, from shortest to the longest style; very reinventive... I doubt other singers from Philippines can do what she does, they might look ugly with a different hairstyle hahaha!

Hi Rebecca! I don't know if someone has shared a background about Regine with the millions of comments. Hahahaha. Anyway, she has a good origin story. She is what we call a "professional constestant" where she competed regularly in singing contests whenever she could until she landed a spot on a famous singing contest on TV back in the 80's/90's called "Bagong Kampeon" (Translation: New Champion). It's sort of X-Factor/The Voice/Idol. She won a season and that's when she got signed and the rest, as they say, is history. She even represented the Philippines in an Asia Song Fest back in the 80's and she won! She was one of a kind back then and paved the way for the diva power belters. She sort of became a "template" that you hear now with the likes of Katrina Velarde and Morisette Amon. Her training was also a point of interest. Her father used to let her do vocal exercises while she is submerged in water up to her neck--in the river, the pool and even in a tank. Now she has left a legacy hence calling her "queen" is just befitting. That segment you reviewed is from a weekly variety show in the early 2000s where they let the more "veteran singers" sing one at a time. And of course, she is always the last to sing because she is queen. (Sorry if I sounded like a narrator in a documentary or something hahaha.)
