Thank you very much for your CZcams teachings, I do love your material! Just a quick question about the attacks that the opponent makes in this video and a lot of other Wing Chun vids. It's always seems to be straight punches. Not meaning to sound too critical, but when you know a straight punch is coming continuously, is it not relatively easy to block and counter? I was wondering how wing Chun deals with a more variety of punches, such as jabs, hooks, upper cuts, etc. I can imagine jabs are easy to pak sau as straight blasts. How about hooks and upper cuts coming in at different angles? Once again, I do value your teachings and openness🙏
That's a good question. To stop a hook, you could use a bong sau, pak sau, wu sau, ding, or taan sau. To stop an uppercut, you would use a jum sau, gaan sau, or a jut sau. Thank you for watching.
I'm wondering about impact of wing chun, I.E. when you watch someone like a prime mike Tyson his body is behind his hooks and uppercuts creating a lot of power behind the strike. Where do you generate the power in wing chun is it in the speed of the strike ? Or in combination with speed and catching your aggressor off guard ? Thank you Sifu Lam. Love your videos it's all I have to learn from.
In Wing Chun, power comes from shifting on your heels. In boxing, power comes from rotating the hips; but in Wing Chun, by pivoting your heels, you're utilizing your entire leg as well as your hips, thereby generating even more power. Thanks for asking.
@@GaryLamWingChunKungFu I think I understand 🤝👍thank you in way you opened me to new understanding and I will take time to give thanks to Mr.wong shun Leung in a way I'm learning from you both I wanna keep learning from everyone who loves martial arts Bruce Lee said it best we are one big family through martial arts
@@mrasshole9088 My first Wing Chun instructor was Lok Yu, a student of Yip Man. I studied under Lok Yu for three years. Upon learning that Wong Shun Leung was "the best Wing Chun instructor", I went to Leung's school to see for myself. I was handily thrown around by his students. At that point, I knew I had to make a change. With Lok Yu's permission, I began studying under Wong Shun Leung.
And the opponent can do a backward step bong sau, then a faan lap sau to react this side pak sau. And also a reminder for side pak sau. The attacking hand’s elbow needs to open a bit in this move.😉
@GaryLamWingChunKungFu lol, yeah, I'm on my way. Dude, there are many videos of people teaching this nonsense and when they are getting their asses handed to them. If this hand clapping would ever work, we would see this in many fight promotions like UFC and others, but we don't, EVER! So stop pretending that you are such a bad ass and start practicing some REAL fighting style like Muai Thai or something, not this hand clapping garbage. I did serve in the military and have been trained properly, and in hand to hand combat, you would have zero chance with these jokes you are promoting.
The best world Master class teacher.❤❤❤
Thank you. I always try to give good information in an interesting way.

Remember to keep your elbows down.
@@GaryLamWingChunKungFu yes, elbow down and open it a bit. Just enough to squeeze the opponent's hand away.😉
@@paklee630 Yes.
As soon as full speed street fight happens this nonsensical hands clapping goes out the window. This is good for kung-fu movies from the 80's.
It works. Come by and I'll show you.
