This is so heartbreaking 💔...what kind of a government do we have and why cant the occupiers of these offices have some sense of humanity!

County officials demand bribes in exchange for payment. In some instances asking for bribes before the payments are made! And in most cases take the money and go mute. It is cruel.

Interesting and eye opening conversations you guys are having on the state of things in Kenya in re to doing business with Government institutions.
I think, this Association needs to also Partner with Counselling institutions to offer their members mental health support to corner these cases of depression and suicide due to unpaid bills - a value addition to their members

I agree that the lack of accountability has compromised the payment of pending. I believe we should also have a list of shame whereby responsible individuals are called out. We need to put a face to the mess.

Suppliers should charge government a punitive penalty for delayed payments

That's why they sell a ball point pen for 100/- to government but when the public, which is often very ignorant of the suffering suppliers go through hear about this, they blast suppliers for greed. Besides that add the hyenas that are in government procurement and one is screwed. It is really suppliers now who have to stop their greed and also stand up against corrupt public officers.

That makes all the sense and thus cannot be adopted by the government because in the government, common sense goes to die.

I supplied a public high school Will building materials for their new dorm. The dorm is up, millions of shillings put in and millions owed. It’s now almost 4 years, I’ve received nothing but stories. Am so sick at this point. They keep saying the government hasn’t given schools money.

So when one wins an order to deliver goods worth 10 million you'll pay the thugs and expect deliveries to be made? Kama ni hivyo basi wewe simamia urais 2027 for you'll get my vote pap!

Unfortunately, the government is the largest employer and has the largest buying power in Kenya.
Hence the impunity and corruption, which is reinforced by a syndicate type of system.
Until we wipe out corruption, we will continue to suffer exponentially.

I supplied a certain nyanza county with a friend of mine in 2016 worth over 900k... problems began after completing the job.. after pushing a lot we received 200k..... my business partner died 2 years later and I am yet to receive the balance... Needless to say, I moved on... paid all my debt by myself and swore never to deal with county governments again.
